Chapter 412: Christopher Charlemagne

Chapter 412: Christopher Charlemagne

It wasn't a day after the conference that the group went to the ships to go to the East. The Raven Justice was the one who commanded the entire fleet himself.

No one dared to question his power too. The Raven Justice was one of the most powerful figure in Avancia. His powers are great, and so was his name.

Born out of wedlock, Christopher Charlemagne was treated like every other illegitimate son. He lived a life lower than any peasant who was dying of hunger and thirst.

His father was Lord Johannes Charlemagne, and his mother was their maid. Lord Johannes assaulted the woman and had gotten her pregnant. When she was asked how she got pregnant, Lord Johannes accused her of seduction.

He waited until his child was born. He wanted to decide what will happen to the maid by the gender of the child. If he's a boy, she gets to live, but if not, the lady dies.

When Christopher came out, his mother was so happy after seeing what's in between his legs. It was a boy, so he gets to live.

Lord Johannes wanted Christopher to become his heir, but his wife was against it. She ordered the guards to execute the maid for her crimes of seduction. When the lord heard of this, he was so angry that he almost chopped his wife's head off.

She couldn't bring him an heir. All their children were women, and he only wanted the happiness of having a male heir. And now that the proper male heir was born, she decided to kill the woman who gave him the happiness.

Lord Johannes locked his wife in the dungeos for a couple of days, making the woman get angrier towards Christopher even more. While the boy was growing up, she was unforgiving to him.

She made him do the tasks three servants would do at once. Her anger only fumed when Lord Johannes had a particular fondness of his son. He saw Christopher as a boy who could take over his domains and bring it prosperity.

It was when Christopher was almost at the ripe age to become lord when the wife broke. She saw him getting along with the people, even her daughters.

Out of anger, the wife then decided to poison their children one by one. The lord, and even Christopher himself, had bonded with them. The sisters were kind to their brother, even helping him with some of the tasks while their mother wasn't looking.

The lord was angry at whoever poisoned his daughters. When he was searching for the culprit, Christopher's name was brought up by none other than the wife herself.

"He killed them out of jealousy!" she yelled, pointing her finger at Christopher who was shaking his head.

"My lord, I could never do that to my sisters," Christopher explained. "I may be treated harshly by Madam, but my sisters are kind to me. I could never do such a thing."

Lord Johannes believed Christopher, but his subjects did not. The wife had threatened to kill all the ones who try to support Christopher's side. They pitied the boy, but what can they do? The woman they were up against was way too powerful.

Christopher was sentenced to death. He was set to be executed in the courtyard where everyone can see his head rolling after he was killed.

Something happened at the execution site that saved Christopher. After this incident, he himself investigated the wife and found out she had been commiting terrible crimes.

Apart from the murder of her daughters, she also took young women in her chambers, locking them up and sucking out their blood with the use of metal tools. Christopher was angered by this information that he himself chopped the woman's head off in her own execution site.

Since then, Christopher declined the Lordship in their city and decided to work as a justice officer. He worked as a guard, then he was promoted as a police officer, and then as a head of a station. It didn't take long before he became the Raven Justice himself, fighting with pride and power.

"Is everyone on board?" Christopher asked Frederick. The red haired man bowed to him, making him sigh in relief and raise his hand. "Prepare for travel! We are on our way to the Eastern kingdom, Shyako. The war is about to start."

Meanwhile in Shyako, Elliot was gazing at the skies. It was nightfall. Guan Yin told them to rest since it was dangerous to travel at night.

Licht's men had set up traps in the forests nearby. He knew they were going to Kkeun, and he was more than willing to stop them. Licht was a ruler who is ruthless and doesn't care if his prey dies before he interrogates them.

After all, he was a necromancer. His men can salvage their body, and he can bring them back to life if he wants information.

While Elliot was looking at the stars, his thoughts let him wander in the Manual. Irus was right, he was only a prisoner of it.

Irus wasn't the one who was controlling the book, nor was he the one who created it. He wasn't even the one that's giving out the powers. What he said at the battle agains the Armageddon was a lie.

The Manual had a mind and set of powers of its own, and Irus was not involved in that. Elliot then sighed. There were still too many questions left to be answered. And the more time ticks, the less chances he got from answering them.

Once Malice sets to full power, everything will perish. Nothing will be left behind after the woman unleashes he wrath upon them.

Elliot felt the grass beside him move. He gazed to the side and saw Lance there, about to lay down beside him.

"You're still thinking," Lance said. "Although before, you're not a fan of that, you suddenly became a thinker."

"I have to," Elliot said. "If I don't think, I will never help anyone. My hopes and dreams of becoming the strongest Adventurer, and all my efforts so far will go to waste if I don't think."

"Ah," Lance chuckled. "Don't aim to be strong, Elliot. Aim to be good."

"I am already good," Elliot snickered. "My loyalty to you guys will never fail."

"Whatever you say, old man," Lance teased.

Elliot suddenly sat up, "But wait, so you're from the East?"

"I think so," Lance shrugged. "When I hid from the crowd the other day, no one saw me as a foreigner. The people from Shyaka would, of course, know that I'm not from there, but he guards didn't. And no one dared to lock me up in the dungeons or something."

"But what about your mother?" Elliot asked. "Isn't she a Forest Folk?"

"Forest Folks all originated from the East," Lance said. "The ones in the West that dwells in forests are fairies and faes."

"That's why their features were different," Elliot said. "I just thought Forest Folks have narrower eyes and paler skin."

"Yeah," Lance snickered. "Get back here. Let's enjoy the stars. We don't know what'll happen tomorrow."

Elliot nodded and went back to lay on the grass. He took a deep breath and spoke, "Whatever might happen, let's never leave each other's side."
