A Beloved Wife in Marriage

Chapter 28

She Blushed, “I Wish I Could, But You’re Here...”

“Go to England and stay there. Don’t come back without my permission!”

England?

Lu Yuan’s chrysanthemums tightened. He felt that the entire world had darkened. He wished he could hug Director Jiang’s thigh and say, “Send me to Africa to mine! I can even mine coal in the mountains!”

As long as it was not that damned place filled with gays!

Unfortunately, Jiang Yanshen instructed the driver to start the car the moment he got in. He did not even give him a glance!

… .

There was a long queue 500 meters away from Jiang City’s toll station.

There was an accident involving a chain collision of five cars, and the roads in both directions were blocked. The sirens of police cars and ambulances kept ringing out.

Lin Qingqian had been stuck here for almost two hours. The young couple in front had lost their patience and kept asking the driver when he could leave.

The driver standing at the door held a cigarette in his mouth and said helplessly, “I don’t know either. Given the scale of the accident, how can the road be cleared so fast! Let’s wait a little longer!”

The young couple complained again.

She did not know when she could leave, but it was too late to enter the city for lunch. Lin Qingqian took out a packet of milk and some bread from her backpack to fill her stomach.

The young couple in front had finished all the fruits they had brought and were a little hungry. The boy turned around and asked, “Um, do you have any more bread? We’ll buy it from you!”

Lin Qingqian took out the remaining bread and milk and distributed it to them. “There’s only one packet of milk and two pieces of bread.”

The boy wanted to pay, but Lin Qingqian stopped him.

The girl said in a sweet voice, “Thank you! Sister, are you going to Jiang City to play?”

Lin Qingqian nodded indifferently.

The girl wanted to say something, but the boy saw that Lin Qingqian didn’t really want to speak, so he stuffed the bread into the girl’s mouth. “Eat quickly. Didn’t you say that you were hungry…”

The girl glared at him coquettishly as she ate the bread and drank the milk that was handed to her.

Lin Qingqian finished eating first and put the trash into the bag. She picked up her phone and looked at the time. It was almost one o’clock.

She had discarded her SIM card before she got into the car and replaced it with an anonymous SIM card. Other than calling and texting, she could do nothing else. Then, she put down her phone and turned to look out the window.

Perhaps because she was too tense and tired, she fell asleep unknowingly.

She had a dream. In her dream, she’d returned to the year when she was in her third year of university. She had just returned from Jiang City and was talking excitedly in Jiang Yanshen’s office about the local customs of Jiang City.

Jiang Yanshen focused on the report in his hand. He did not even give her a glance from beginning to end.

Lin Qingqian was inexplicably a little angry. She stepped forward and snatched away his report. “Jiang Yanshen, I’m talking to you. Did you hear me?”

Jiang Yanshen’s eyes were calm. He was not angry, nor was he very gentle. “If you like Jiang City so much, why don’t you just stay there?”

She blushed. “I wish I could, but you’re here…”

The afternoon sun was especially gentle as it shone on him, as if it had melted the coldness on his body.

Lin Qingqian suddenly opened her eyes and turned to look out of the window. The scene didn’t seem so chaotic anymore, and it wasn’t the same place as before.

She looked at the time on her phone. She had slept for almost an hour.

The girl in front could not help but complain, “Why is the road blocked again? Didn’t you say that it’s all clear?”

“I don’t know.” The driver broke down too. “It looks like some kind of last-minute inspection.”

Lin Qingqian’s heart trembled as a ridiculous thought flashed through her mind. Even though she felt that it was unlikely, because of her desire to live, she became more careful.

She put on a cap and handed the cash she had prepared in advance to the driver. “I’ll get off here.”

The driver was dumbfounded. “But we haven’t even arrived…”

“It’s fine, let me off first!!” Lin Qingqian interrupted him.

Seeing her insistence, the driver opened the door for her to get out.

At around four in the afternoon, the sunlight was no longer as scorching, but the temperature on the asphalt road was still a little high. The drivers who were stuck here chose to stay in the car to enjoy the air conditioner.

Lin Qingqian looked around and her gaze landed on Mount Shu not far away.
