Chapter 24
Chapter 24
Jing Yao smiled and leaned in front of Zhu Ling. “Didn’t you tell me not to be so obedient and not to send Liang Xun a message?”
Zhu Ling pushed her smile away. “How would I know that you would have such a serious reaction? Can you stand it if you take a taxi back and meet a chauffeur like that just now?”
Jing Yao didn’t say anything and just smiled at her.
Zhu Ling glared at her.
Jing Yao indeed did not have the ability to continue shopping. She was also afraid of meeting another chauffeur like the one just now, but she did not want to trouble Liang Xun anymore. Anyway, she had an appointment with Ji Wei tonight. She would sit at the mall and go to the appointment directly.
Seeing that she did not take out her cell phone to send a message for a long time, Zhu Ling asked for the reason in confusion.
Jing Yao told Zhu Ling her thoughts.
Zhu Ling looked at her speechlessly. “He has a chauffeur. It’s not like he’s coming himself. It’s just a matter of words. What’s the trouble?”
Jing Yao shook her head. “Isn’t troubling the chauffeur equivalent to troubling him? What if he happens to need a car?”
Zhu Ling poked her forehead. “You’re already so virtuous after just getting married.”
Zhu Ling was not afraid of troubling Liang Xun. She sent a message to his brother and asked him to send Liang Xun’s WeChat to her.
Zhu Sui was scared out of his wits by her message. He advised her: [Sister, can we change to someone else? In the past, I said that I would introduce the two of you to each other. You said that you weren’t interested and that men would only delay your progress. Why is it like this now? But Liang Xun really isn’t possible. He’s a married man now.]
“…” Zhu Ling.

Zhu Ling: [Cut the crap. Send me Liang Xun’s WeChat. I’m with Jing Yao now. Get him to send someone to pick her up.]
Zhu Sui heaved a sigh of relief and sent Liang Xun’s WeChat contact to her.
Zhu Ling immediately applied for a friend request.
Liang Xun was still waiting for Jing Yao’s reply, but he didn’t receive Jing Yao’s reply. Instead, he received Zhu Ling’s friend request.
Liang Xun agreed. Before he could greet her, Zhu Ling had already said concisely, “Come here to pick up Jing Yao.”
Then, she posted the location of the mall right on the heels of that.
It was lunch break. Liang Xun got up, put on his coat, and rushed to the mall without delay.
Half an hour later, Liang Xun called Jing Yao and told her that he had arrived.
Jing Yao brought Zhu Ling to the entrance of the mall with a puzzled expression.
Even after she got into the car, Jing Yao still couldn’t figure out why Liang Xun suddenly came to pick her up. It was the same in the company this morning.
Zhu Ling was about to resign from the company. Worried that Jing Yao would feel uncomfortable after sitting in the car for too long, she rejected Liang Xun’s suggestion and took a taxi.
“Shall I send you back?” Liang Xun asked.
Jing Yao hurriedly shook her head. “I don’t want to go back. Let’s find a cafe and sit down. I have an appointment tonight.”
Liang Xun pursed his lips, his heart aching. She had lunch with her best friend and had an appointment at night. They did not even have time to eat together on the second day of their marriage.
“Do you know where the appointment is? I’ll send you to the vicinity,” Liang Xun said as he suppressed the jealousy in his heart.
“No. Do you know which hotpot nearby is delicious?” said Jing Yao.
“Hotpot?” Liang Xun’s voice deepened and his expression did not look too good.
Jing Yao sensed the emotions in his words and immediately opened her eyes. Then, she suddenly remembered that she had to pay attention to her diet in her current situation.
She looked at Liang Xun carefully and asked, “Can I eat hotpot?”
Liang Xun thought about the things to take note of that Zhu Sui had sent him and instructed, “You can eat a little of it, but you can’t eat the spicy pot.”
Jing Yao lowered her eyes. “Then what’s the point?”
Seeing her pitiful look, Liang Xun raised his hand and touched her head. He said gently, “Bear with it. You’re the one who will feel uncomfortable after eating it.”
Jing Yao didn’t say anything. The car drove slowly on the road. Liang Xun’s driving skills were so good that Jing Yao wanted to sleep.
But just as she was about to fall asleep, her cell phone rang. Jing Yao picked it up with a frown and didn’t see who the caller was.
“Jing Yao, where are you? Did you terminate your contract with the company? Where did you get the money? Are you…”
Jing Yao hung up quickly.
However, Zhang Li’s sharp voice seemed to be ringing in her ears after she hung up.
Jing Yao immediately covered her mouth as she felt like vomiting.
When Liang Xun saw that, he slowed down the already slow car even more.
After hanging up, the phone rang again less than a minute later. Jing Yao glanced at it and found that it was still Zhang Li. She hung up quickly again.
However, Zhang Li was especially persistent. She called again and again.
In the end, Jing Yao turned off her phone. After throwing her cell phone into her bag, she sat there in a daze, her eyes still a little red.
Liang Xun looked at her with heartache. He wondered whom she had received a call from to be so frightened.
