Aiming to be the perfect butler for my lady

Chapter 56- Unworthy

Chapter 56- Unworthy

Kyle was given the role of serving the Princess of the Empire—one of the most important and influential figures. Naturally, he has to maintain a persona befitting the servant of someone serving her.

He stood near the entrance of the Council Room with an indifferent look. The passerby and their gazes didn't bother him as he remained rooted at his spot with his arms crossed behind his back.

'Quite late...' A thought passed Kyle's mind but soon a grin fought its way to his lips as he sensed something advancing toward him at an unnatural pace.

He didn't show any movements and wiped that smirk off instantly. He has to pretend to be oblivion as he awaited for the right time.

"Take this!!" Kyle heard a loud booming voice from above his head as he parted his mouth and looked up in horror.

"Wha!" He raised his hands to cover his face, the perfect pretence to show himself as an unaware fellow who had been suddenly attacked.

The heel of the ambusher connected with Kyle's wrist and the force of the collision blasted away the doors of the council office.

*CRACK*

Naturally, for not adjusting himself according to and allowing his thin bones to face the attack, Kyle heard something breaking in him.

"What are you doing?!" The secretary of the President was the one who reached the site and shouted at the ambusher, who was none other than Logan.

Logan jumped back to the ground with a frown marring his face. However, it wasn't because the Secretary shouted at him, rather it was the lack of response from Kyle that bothered Logan.

'Why didn't he defend himself?' Logan asked in his head while staring at the loosely hanging hand of Kyle which undoubtedly had broken because of his strike.

"Answer me this instance or you would be severely punished!" The normally gentle and girlish Secretary yelled at Logan again—bringing the latter's focus on him finally.

"Calm down, Phil." The red-haired President finally arrived before the group and asked her secretary to take some deep breaths first.

Turning her eyes toward Logan she asked, "Can you tell me the reason, why you attacked Mr. Butler here?" A sense of concern flashed in Isabella's eyes when she looked at Kyle's broken hand and pale complexion.

Alatia moved through the crowd and the experience of the breeze of the peak winter was experienced by everyone present there.

Thankfully, she didn't lose control of her powers like yesterday—Isabella sighed in relief before she heard Logan answering.

"I wanted to have a duel with him."

"And you deemed this a proper way of asking?" Isabella asked...no, she wondered in surprise.

Logan innocently responded, "I knew a duel between a servant and a student isn't allowed unless some special situation arises. That's why...."

Now Isabella was a little exasperated but that didn't show on her face as she asked him in her usual tone, "You remembered that rule but forgot the basic norm? Do you think, attacking an individual out of nowhere can ever be accepted?"

Hearing her reprimand, Logan didn't say anything and lowered his eyes. He accepts that his way of initiating the battle was wrong and once again, it was proven that his old comrades were right.

Logan indeed is a battle junkie who can go to some absurd lengths to have a match with a worthy opponent.

....however, now Logan has to rethink whether Kyle is a worthy opponent. Did his eyes betray him? Was Logan's excitement unneeded?

"President, having someone as brute as Logan in the council is not acceptable. I, as your Vice President, do not approve him." The long black-haired male with golden eyes explicitly declared without an ounce of hesitation.

Given Logan was one of the best combatants from the first years, the statement of the vice president was indeed surprising.

"Someone who cannot himself maintain discipline...how can we hope to have him as a disciplinarian? I also don't approve of him, President." The Disciplinary Committee chief with short army-cut hair spoke.

Isabella sighed as she sensed the hostility the whole council held towards Logan.

She cannot go against them to have Logan in the Council and truth be told, she also didn't like how he acted just now.

"Well, let's continue this talk later. First, Alatia...can you lead Mr. Butler to the infirmary?"

Alatia didn't take a glance at Logan fearing that she might freeze him to death and after nodding she helped Kyle to move.

Once they were gone, Isabella told Logan, "To ensure that nothing like this happens again, I have to punish you."

Logan didn't say anything and just nodded. Now that he was more calm, he realised the severity of the matter and was prepared to accept any punishment which the Council deemed suitable.

[Kyle's POV:]

Being aware of Logan's personality has been so advantageous for me.

The moment I realised that he was interested in battling against me, I devised a plan.

I knew Alatia wanted to join the Disciplinary committee and in the canon, the distance between Logan and her lessened while they were working together.

If Logan had joined the Disciplinary committee then Alatia might have chosen to be a reporter. And I didn't want her to compromise. So to remove Logan from the council and lower his interest in me, I acted weak.

I knew the type of person he was, not today but someday he would have attacked me and the result would have been the same.

"Why are you grinning like this? Stop it." Alatia's cold voice instantly froze my smile.

I forgot that she still was mad.

Inching closer to her I whispered, "You did well by not attacking Logan. That's why I love my Ala so much."

"Do you think I will forgive you every time you say that?"

You say that but those burning ears tell a different story.

When Alatia neared me earlier in front of the council office I told her to not react. It was very important for Alatia to not get into unnecessary conflicts for now.

The upcoming arcs need Alatia as a Disciplinary officer as such I have to keep things in moderation and mould the events accordingly.

"Ala...do you trust me?" My question made her look away before she replied,

"More than I trust myself."

I smiled at her fondly and whispered in a soft tone, "Then leave everything to me. I assure you, that my every step will be heading toward the future we desire."

Holding her hand gently I added, "The future in which the only two of us exist."

A/N:- This hiding the strength thingy won't be consistent. Kyle had to do something to remove the spotlight from him.
