Chapter 22
C22 – Demon Suppressing Ring!
Peng Gengkun feigned deafness and pressed on, “If you lose, will you surrender your life to me?”
Yan Xinheng let out a cold chuckle.
“I’m not going to lose,” he declared, tilting his head slightly. “I may not be the strongest among the elite disciples, but I’m certainly in the upper echelon. You’ve got a decent Movement Technique, but beating me won’t be a walk in the park.”
Yan Xinheng then proposed, “You’re looking to gain something from this, so if I lose, I’ll hand over a Grade Two Martial Arts tome to you.”
With that, he tossed a small booklet onto a plaque just outside the Death Match Arena, which featured a groove on either side for placing bets.
Peng Gengkun recognized the setup immediately and placed an ordinary-looking ring in one of the grooves. From a distance, onlookers couldn’t discern whether it was a Space Ring or not.
The two combatants then stepped into the Death Match Arena, faced each other, and bowed in respect.
Without delay, Peng Gengkun unleashed the Shocking Wind Step, launching a barrage of attacks at Yan Xinheng.
Even without employing Martial Arts, his strikes left several marks on Yan Xinheng’s body.
The spectacle took the onlookers by surprise. The elite disciples marveled at Peng Gengkun’s speed, while the Inner Sect disciples recognized that Yan Xinheng was on the back foot. Several Elders offered their insights on Peng Gengkun’s Movement Technique and Yan Xinheng’s defensive tactics.

On the Death Match Arena, Peng Gengkun’s swift movements landed a hit on Yan Xinheng’s back, sending him stumbling forward.
“I know you wouldn’t step into the Death Match Arena unless you had a strategy to counter me,” Peng Gengkun stated. “So go ahead, show me everything you’ve got.”
Yan Xinheng smirked in response. “I accepted this challenge because I’m confident in my ability to handle you. But I had planned to unveil my other techniques a bit later. Since you’re so eager, I’ll give you a preview.”
With that, Yan Xinheng summoned his Astral Energy and launched an assault on Peng Gengkun.
Despite being unable to see, Peng Gengkun still received a notification from the system.
But before he could deploy his Movement Technique to evade, Yan Xinheng’s Astral Energy had already ensnared him.
Peng Gengkun was taken aback. He attempted to use the Shocking Wind Step powered by his own Astral Energy, but no matter what he tried, he couldn’t escape Yan Xinheng’s binding force.
“No wonder he had the confidence to enter the Death Match Arena; he truly has a counter for me. Even though I’m clueless about the martial arts he’s employing, once his Astral Energy has me in its grip, I’m rendered helpless to break free.”
Suddenly, Peng Gengkun noticed Yan Xinheng’s other hand manipulating the Astral Energy, preparing to launch a Martial Arts technique.
Peng Gengkun exclaimed in alarm, “This is bad. It looks like he’s gearing up to finish me off with a powerful Martial Arts move.”
Peng Gengkun was deeply shaken. He immediately channeled his Astral Energy, striving to shatter Yan Xinheng’s hold. If he could just extricate himself from Yan Xinheng’s Astral Energy, he would be free to execute his own martial arts. With the power of Leviathan-roc Astral Energy, Peng Gengkun could not only counterattack but potentially turn the tables and defeat Yan Xinheng.
Yet the Astral Energy proved to be exceptionally resilient, and Peng Gengkun found himself unable to break free.
Outside the Death Match Arena, several Elders exchanged glances and murmured among themselves, “It looks like we’re about to see the outcome.”
“Indeed. The disciple has a decent Movement Technique, but he was caught off-guard. Now that he’s ensnared by the Astral Energy, he’s immobilized.”
“If I’m not mistaken, the disciple wielding the Astral Energy is sure to be promoted to the Inner Sect. When that happens, I intend to take him under my wing.”
Chang Jipeng was present among the Elders. At that moment, Chang Jipeng had subdued his presence, appearing less intimidating. However, the energy within him had already coalesced. If one could peer into Chang Jipeng’s Qi Sea, they would find a serene infant nestled within.
Chang Jipeng had attained the Martial Disciple Stage, having fused the Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind Spiritual Energies with his Martial Soul to create a Soul Embryo.
At that moment, the group of Elders subtly acknowledged Chang Jipeng as their leader.
Upon seeing Peng Gengkun, Chang Jipeng’s face darkened.
“This disciple has procured Shadow Soul Grass for me, enabling me to advance to the Intermediate Rank Martial Disciple in just one week. I can’t bear the thought of him dying like this! Yet, here in the Death Match Arena, my hands are tied—even as an Elder, I must not intervene.”
Chang Jipeng was reflecting on this when his expression shifted abruptly.
“There could still be a twist in the tale!”
The Inner Sect disciples were abuzz with talk about the match, and Xi Yingzhu was unexpectedly among them. She watched in astonishment as Yan Xinheng ensnared Peng Gengkun with ropes of Astral Energy, her surprise quickly giving way to indignation. She turned her gaze sharply towards the other Inner Sect disciples.
“You dare to do such a thing!” Xi Yingzhu exclaimed, her eyes wide with disbelief.
“And why would you say that?” Wei Mingzhi feigned ignorance, replying, “The ones who made a move were clearly elite disciples. What does that have to do with me?”
With a huff, Xi Yingzhu retorted, “The Demon Suppressing Ring wielded by those elite disciples belongs to the Wei family. You think I wouldn’t recognize it?”
Wei Mingzhi responded with a sly grin, “The Wei family recently lost a martial arts tome. Little did we know it would end up in the hands of a fellow sect member. Once this duel concludes, I must extend my heartfelt thanks to Yan Xinheng!”
Xi Yingzhu fell silent.
“You’ve managed to reach the Intermediate Rank of Qi Refining, which shows you have some talent. But sadly, today will be your end, and no one can save you.”
Lost in thought, Xi Yingzhu was jolted by a voice from behind her.
“Don’t count anyone out until the final moment has passed. There may yet be a turn of events.”
Xi Yingzhu spun around, taken aback, and saw a young man dressed in yellow robes approaching at a leisurely pace.
All the Inner Sect disciples present paid their respects to the newcomer. Even Xi Yingzhu bowed her head and offered a respectful greeting, “I pay my respects, Little Prince.”
The Little Prince offered a smile and turned his attention to the center of the Death Match Arena, declaring, “Let the match begin.”
At his words, everyone’s gaze snapped back to the arena in anticipation.
Little Prince was far from ordinary; he stood out as one of the elite disciples within the Inner Sect!
With a roster of over five hundred disciples, the Inner Sect only revealed its top ten at the end of each year. Little Prince consistently ranked among this prestigious group!
If Little Prince declared that the battle had yet to conclude, then it was clear—the fight was far from over!
