Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Why Should I Pay Taxes?
Upon hearing this information, Anthony was unable to maintain the composure he had just a moment ago; his fists clenched unconsciously, and large beads of sweat continuously slid down his forehead.
It would have been one thing if the Tax Inspectorate had only found out about his ex-wife and brother-in-law.
But now they had even dug up information on Holt, Warren, and even the nitty-gritty details of a few of his co-conspirators.
Everyone knew how formidable the IRS was, and today, he had finally experienced it firsthand—indeed, they were nothing like those idiots at the police station!
"Inspector sir, as a casino employee, I have to deal with countless people every day, and it's inevitable that I'll forget some faces,"
"But now that you mention it, I do remember them, three friends involved in the robbery. Please give me a bit of time to talk to them and see if they are clear about the matter!"
Anthony was well aware that the people from the IRS were not to be trifled with.
They wielded great power; even the President was afraid of them.
Moreover, now that they held so much evidence, continuing to resist would not end well for him.
So, he was prepared to compromise.
Of course, he was ready to compromise, but he couldn't make a unilateral decision; he had to discuss it with his co-conspirators first.
"Agreed!"
David glanced at his watch and then said, "But I need a result before five o'clock this afternoon, Mr. Anthony. You are a smart man and should know what to do."
"Don't worry, Inspector sir, I understand!"
...
In front of Encar Casino.
With the manager's escort, Nisen and David walked out and got into the car.
"David, did you investigate this case?"
Nisen couldn't wait to blurt it out.

From Anthony's behavior just now, it was certain that Paul, Holt, Warren, these names weren't just made up on the spot!
These individuals were most likely Anthony's co-conspirators!
Otherwise, he wouldn't be so flustered!
But Nisen was a bit perplexed; he had gone through great lengths and had only found issues concerning Anthony's ex-wife and brother-in-law.
How did David uncover the details about these three associates?
"I did look into it and was lucky to find some clues,"
David said with a smile, not denying it.
"Well, you've really kept me in the dark, I didn't expect you to have your sights set on this case too!"
"But tell me, how did you find out the details about those three guys?"
That was what Nisen was most eager to know.
"You have your methods, and I have mine!"
"This... ok..."
Nisen hesitated to speak further but seemed to understand the implication and finally decided not to pursue the matter further.
In the IRS system, each Inspector has their own tax investigation methods.
These methods might involve a lot of unsavory and even illegal activities.
So it was understandable that David didn't want to disclose them.
Of course, the IRS didn't care about that; as long as the tax revenue was secured without causing a big fuss, the means didn't matter!
...
On Fremont Street in the old town district, outside a bungalow.
Rushing from Encar Casino, Anthony frowned slightly upon hearing the deafening music coming from inside the house.
"Fucking blissfully unaware when there's a crisis at hand!"
Anthony cursed and kicked the door open.
At this moment inside the house, a dozen men and women were still immersed in the music, completely unaware of the intrusion.
It wasn't until the music stopped the next second that these people began to come to their senses.
When they realized that Anthony was the one who had caused all this trouble, they immediately started cursing him on the spot.
"Bang!"
Anthony had no patience for them; he picked up the gun from the table and fired a shot at the ceiling, instantly sending everyone scrambling for cover.
"Get the fuck out of here, all of you!"
No one dared to stick around, and they immediately leapt towards the door.
Soon, the only person left was a black man lying on the sofa.
Anthony walked over and kept slapping the man's face, relentlessly calling, 'Wake up'.
Just then, two men walked in through the door.
One was somewhat skinny, the other was wearing a checked shirt and looked somewhat fierce, with a bulging waist.
"Anthony, you called us here in such a hurry, what's the situation?"
The man in the checked shirt asked.
"Get Holt awake first!"
The man in the checked shirt glanced at Holt on the sofa, then without another word, went into the washroom.
A couple of minutes later, he came out with a bucket of water, went over to Holt, grabbed his head, and shoved it into the bucket.
"Cough cough cough…"
After a fit of violent coughing, Holt struggled to throw off the man in the checked shirt's arm, looking around in a daze.
"Anthony, Warren, Paul, what are you guys doing here!"
"Snap out of it, we've got a big problem!"
Upon hearing Anthony's words, both Warren and Paul's expressions darkened, and Holt, still in a confused state, also began to sober up somewhat.
"Anthony, what's going on?"
Anthony first walked to the door to close it, then came back, lowered his voice, and said, "The armored truck heist has been exposed!"
"What, the cops found out?"
All three were shocked, asking in unison.
"No, it's the IRS people!"
Hearing those three words, IRS, their minds momentarily short-circuited.
But quickly, Warren was the first to snap back, both relieved and incredulous in his response, "We robbed armoured truck money, what the hell does it have to do with them?"
Anthony spread his hands helplessly and replied, "It does have to do with them, here's the thing…"
Anthony then recounted the matter concerning the tax evasion legislation, one by one.
After listening, all three were dumbfounded.
They had risked everything to plan this heist, and now that they finally got their hands on the money, you're telling me we have to pay taxes to the IRS?
This was just too absurd!
"I'm not fucking paying, why the hell should I!"
Warren, a gang member and a native of Mexico, not a born-and-bred citizen of the United States, had a volatile temper and didn't have a complete understanding of the IRS.
All he knew was that this money was something he risked his life to rob, and now someone else wants a cut?
Not even if the supreme god himself showed up!
"Why? Because they can freeze our accounts at any time, send armed men to take us down at any time!"
Anthony glanced at Warren, who was completely oblivious to the seriousness of the situation.
"Don't be rash, Warren. This situation is indeed outrageous and frustrating, but this is the United States, and the IRS is not to be trifed with. If they are onto us, our best bet is to compromise,"
Paul, a true-born American, was well aware of the power of the IRS and was ready to throw in the towel.
