Beast Taming: Starting From Zero

Chapter 198: Is There Enough Time?

Although the Water Snail is a low-level pet beast, it possesses radar-like characteristics.

Its antennae function like a radio locator, capable of emitting around 100 electric pulses per minute into the surrounding underwater environment.

The electromagnetic waves generated by these discharges bounce off nearby objects and return as radio echoes, allowing it to perceive its surroundings just like a radar.

Even though the Water Luriana has the ability to blend into water, it is still an extraordinary creature.

Unlike regular flowing water, any slight disturbance can be roughly detected.

"Wake up!" The chubby security guard, desperate, pinched the Water Snail between his thumb and forefinger, giving it a firm shake.

Finding the Water Luriana without causing a commotion is impossible without relying on this little guy’s radar ability. But now it's passed out drunk, what a mess!

The guard had just confirmed that the Water Luriana was somewhere in this complex. If he didn’t hurry to locate it, who knew when it would slip away again?

After shaking it for a long time, the Water Snail remained unresponsive. Frustrated, the guard kicked the sleeping, skinny man next to him.

Damn it, all because of this drunk fool!

---

In the early morning, Qiao Sang set off for school, holding Little Treasure while riding on Yabao's back.

A figure watched from the shadows as Qiao Sang left the complex, then turned and headed toward Room 1705.

It was none other than the chubby security guard, eyeing the Water Luriana.

"After we get inside, start by checking near the pool, got it?" The guard whispered as he looked ahead, his lips barely moving.

He seemed to be talking to himself, but a closer look would reveal the head of the Water Snail peeking out from his collar.

"Drip."

The Water Snail nodded in understanding.

"If it’s not by the pool, check the house for any other water sources." The guard instructed.

The villas in the complex each had pools in their yards. The Water Snail had sneaked into a few homes before and knew the layout, but it would have to search thoroughly for any other water sources inside the house.

"Drip." The Water Snail obediently nodded.

"And no causing trouble this time. Stop eating everything in sight. It’s not like I don’t feed you enough." The guard grumbled, recalling the events of the previous day.

The Water Snail said nothing.

The guard walked past Room 1705 without stopping, acting nonchalant. However, the Water Snail stealthily slipped down and crawled toward the house.

The villa’s wall wasn’t high, so the Water Snail easily climbed over it.

It remembered its trainer’s instructions clearly: Start by checking the pool.

Bang!

Bang!

BANG, BANG!

A series of loud noises echoed from the courtyard.

Startled, the Water Snail froze. Normally, its trainer would wait until the residents were gone before sending it in. But this time, someone was still there.

Could this be... trust?

The Water Snail was moved, and its gaze hardened with determination.

If its trainer trusted it that much, it couldn’t afford to get caught!

As it carefully crawled into the courtyard and raised its head, its eyes widened, its body going stiff as if petrified.

More than a dozen enormous pet beasts that looked identical were baring their teeth, flames forming in front of them.

The entire courtyard was filled with heat.

BANG!

BANG!

The explosions shook the ground beneath it.

"Drip…" The Water Snail trembled uncontrollably. Terrifying…

"Drip…”

It started to doubt its trainer’s sanity. Why would they send it to such a terrifying place?

The Water Drip slowly backed away, preparing to turn around, when it suddenly locked eyes with one of the huge, ferocious creatures.

"DRIP!!"

The Water Snail held its breath, shut its eyes, and fainted.

On the way to school, Yabao suddenly stopped.

Seeing this, Qiao Sang asked, “Is the home clone gone?”

Yabao had recently resumed his practice of controlling his clone from a distance. Since he could now freely move around in the mornings, he was trying to balance training with staying close to Qiao Sang.

With the new school term approaching, Qiao Sang was holding on to her dream of having Yabao's main body with her at school while the clone trained at home.

"Yap." Yabao shook his head.

“Then why did you stop?” Qiao Sang asked curiously.

"Yap?" Yabao tilted his head. He wasn’t sure, he just felt like something might be wrong with his clone.

Qiao Sang didn’t dwell on it and continued toward school.

Once at the training field, she noticed that Wang Yao’s face was swollen, as if she’d been hit.

Qiao Sang couldn’t help but approach her.

“What happened to your face?”

Wang Yao looked at her with a resentful expression.

“It’s because of you.”

“Because of me?” Qiao Sang was baffled. How was this her fault?

“You told me that Little Treasur got emotional after someone threw a hot at it and took its ring, right?” Wang Yao sighed.

“So, I tried it at home with Fire Chain Python. I tossed its food while it was eating, and it smacked me with its tail.”

“Huh?” Qiao Sang was momentarily speechless.

Only the brave would dare take food from a fire-type pet beast!

If she were to throw out Yabao’s food in front of him, Yabao would probably… well, he probably wouldn’t slap her with his tail.

“You and Fire Chain Python don’t have that kind of bond.” Qiao Sang concluded.

Wang Yao: ...

---

During free training, watching Yabao spin in circles under Little Treasure’s psychic control left Wang Yao and others speechless.

A ghost-type pet beast with psychic powers...

Ha…

Hahahahaha…

Little Treasure mastering high-level skills was one thing, but now it also had psychic powers?

Right?

It’s a nightmare!

This was a dual powerhouse of ghost and psychic types. When it came time to battle, what was the point? Might as well surrender!

What kind of monster was this, evolving Fire Fang Dog into Flame Hound, not to mention contracting with a ridiculously overpowered Little Treasure…

Qiao Sang read her book, unaware of everyone’s stares.

Sitting beside her, Zheng Baolong watched Flame Hound and Little Treasure training, laughing as he said, “Qiao Sang, I think I get your idea, but regardless of whether Flame Hound's clone can use psychic power while its main body uses Fire Whirl...”

“Have you considered the timing?”

Qiao Sang looked up from her book.
