The audience grew restless, staring intently at the field.
It was clear that Ice Qiya was still present, and it would be competing in the second match as well.
The exclusive, adrenaline-pumping BGM did not play again, and Yi Ao did not engage in any countdown interaction this time.
The audience from the Guwu region had lost the enthusiasm to cheer phrases like, "Go, Ice Qiya!" "I love you, Ice Qiya!" or "Qiao Sang, I believe in you!" especially when they knew Ice Qiya was about to be crushed in the upcoming match.
After a brief silence, Yi Ao announced the start of the match.
Zhang Xueming looked at the Ice Qiya still on the field. Shocked, she felt insulted. At this stage of the regional competition, every match was crucial.
If the opponent didn’t have a high-level pet, that would be one thing. But knowing the opponent had a high-level pet beast and still choosing Ice Qiya, despite being aware of her next pick, Ice Sea Lion, was undoubtedly insulting.
Lubao made the first move, shooting a Water Gun.
Zhang Xueming's expression was icy as she commanded, "Icy Wind."
Hearing its trainer's command, Ice Sea Lion opened its mouth, releasing a visible chill that quickly spread outwards.
The chill engulfed the incoming Water Gun, freezing it into an ice-covered projectile in an instant.

The frozen water column hit the ground and shattered into countless fragments.
An Icy Wind from a high-level pet beast was a force to be reckoned with...
Qiao Sang calmly said, "Bubble Beam."
Lubao opened her mouth, releasing over a hundred bubbles into the air.
Zhang Xueming frowned, unable to discern Qiao Sang's intentions.
In her view, even if Ice Sea Lion stood still and let the Bubble Beam hit it, it wouldn’t cause any damage.
Since the skill was so weak, Zhang Xueming gave no counter commands.
Contestants who made it to the regional competition didn’t need to issue commands for every move. The pets, trained over long periods, could rely on their battle instincts to decide on the appropriate skills and timing.
However, without a trainer's instructions and facing such a seemingly harmless opponent, Ice Sea Lion appeared lazy and uninspired, lacking any fighting spirit.
It wasn’t until the hundred-plus bubbles had traveled a fair distance that Ice Sea Lion finally launched an attack.
This wasn’t negligence, but more like a situation where an adult fighting a child would casually wait until the child, wielding a fragile twig, rushed forward before nonchalantly countering with a single move.
Ice Sea Lion reacted slowly but attacked swiftly.
A white beam infused with icy energy shot out of Ice Sea Lion’s mouth, heading directly for Lubao.
The beam pierced through the bubbles, freezing them solid along its path and advancing unhindered.
An Ice Beam, a mid-tier ice skill, could damage the opponent and potentially freeze them.
Qiao Sang remained composed.
She was fully aware of the disparity between Lubao and Ice Sea Lion.
The gap between mid-level and high-level pet beasts wasn’t just for show.
Her previous pet, Yabao, had been able to challenge high-level beasts because of his teleportation and his mastery of a high-damage, wide-range ultimate skill, Meteor Rain.
Similarly, Little Treasure’s victory over Stronghold Sky Owl had relied on his teleportation skill and mastery of Shadow Control, along with the owl's lack of synchronization with its trainer.
But Lubao was different.
Her most powerful skill was for healing, and her offensive abilities were either low-tier or mid-tier.
Given Lubao's defense, she would likely fall after a single hit.
Ice Sea Lion, being Zhang Xueming’s starter beast, had excellent synergy with its trainer.
Defeat was inevitable.
Her only goal was to ensure Lubao didn’t lose too quickly to avoid dealing a severe blow to her morale.
Lubao reacted quickly. As the white beam broke through the bubbles, she leaped and disappeared from view.
The anticipated scene of Ice Qiya being injured didn’t occur, and the audience breathed a small sigh of relief.
“So that’s why it used Bubble Beam, to create water! I was wondering why it used that skill.”
“Actually, I noticed earlier. The bubbles were too scattered, and some even dropped to the ground immediately after forming.”
The bubbles were transparent, but under the holographic blue ocean and lighting effects, they appeared colorful, making their scattered trajectory noticeable to some.
“At least Ice Qiya can melt in water.”
“Speaking of Melting Water, I watched a match where a Water Toad ran out of energy in the final round, and its trainer told it to spit into the ground and jump into the spit. Genius move.”
“Being able to melt into water is impressive. I heard the Melting Water trait needs to reach Grade A to melt into any liquid.”
“Ugh, I can’t bear to watch anymore. I wish the match would just end here…”
So it was about melting water... Zhang Xueming realized the purpose of Bubble Beam and decisively commanded:
“Freeze the field!”
Upon hearing its trainer, Ice Sea Lion blew away the fur covering its mouth.
Once the fur parted, it opened its mouth wide, releasing a massive wave of cold air.
The chill spread rapidly, covering the field in a layer of ice.
As the ground froze, Lubao had no choice but to leap out of the small puddle it was hiding in when the cold reached the center of the field.
“Ice Beam!”
There it was! Zhang Xueming’s eyes lit up as she shouted the moment Lubao emerged.
Ice Sea Lion immediately ceased its chilling breath and redirected its energy.
In the next instant, a white beam shot toward Lubao.
Still airborne, Lubao looked up, her pupils reflecting the approaching beam.
Her pupils contracted as she forced her muscles to respond, unleashing unprecedented speed to change direction mid-air and jump to safety.
Ice Sea Lion, however, adjusted its aim to follow Lubao’s movements.
Boom!
As Lubao landed, the white beam hit directly.
“Luuu!”
Lubao was struck head-on and sent flying over ten meters.
The entire venue erupted in chaos.
Eighty percent of the audience stood in outrage, with some in the front rows even rushing toward the field, only to be stopped by diligent security staff.
“Damn! Damn it! Ice Qiya! Don’t give up!”
“That was way too ruthless! If anything happens to Ice Qiya, I won’t let it slide!”
“Why did Qiao Sang send Ice Qiya into a match she knew it would lose? Did she do it on purpose?!”
“Ice Sea Lion! Zhang Xueming! I’ll remember this! I’ll remember you both!”
Some emotionally fragile spectators covered their eyes, unable to bear the sight of Ice Qiyaa injured and lying on the ground.
In Section B, first row.
“Fei fei…”
Emerald Python stared at the field, its expression full of worry.

T/N: Sorry for not updating till now.🥺 I was busy with our movie filming (a final project for a subject of ours) because not only was I the scriptwriter, I was also one of the antogonists in it. And the very next two days after an overnight filming, I became busy with musical theater practice (another final project for another subject🫠). And then after that, I was down with a severe fever. I'm kind of okay right now so I managed to update. (Why are we doing these kind of projects, I'm an educ student😭 I'm not for the arts.) Ps. Sorry for ranting. But overall, here's the updates!☺️
