Chapter 26: Graduation Season
Chapter 26: Graduation Season
On his way to his dormitory, Kimura Muyang sweated profusely. Even though he did flaunt his position to Hiyori because he was kind of caught up in the moment, the thought of Hiyori beating him to a pulp like how she did to Shinji scared him to death because Hiyori clearly glared at him before he left earlier.
After racking his brain for a while to find a good excuse, Kimura Muyang finally gave up as he couldn’t find any decent one. He could finally relax after giving it up altogether. He decided to cross the bridge when it comes to it.
After returning to the dormitory and Kimura Muyang sat on the bed as he recalled Shiun’s instructions: “Do it at least an hour for three times a day. It may be tough at first, but no pain, no gain, right?”
Kimura Muyang gritted his teeth as he psyched himself up. He recalled what his teacher said about how the plum blossomed after surviving extremely cold temperatures in his previous life. It did sound annoying, but he knew his teacher was right.
“Play your melody, Shiun.”
As the Zanpakuto in his hand changed shape, Kimura Muyang immediately used its ability, and the lightning slowly circulated throughout his body. Almost immediately, his whole body was sore and numb at the same time.
Had it not for his obsession to attain more strength, Kimura Muyang would’ve long given up because an average person wouldn’t be able to withstand this tingling sensation that was even more unbearable than simple pain.
Kimura Muyang made sure that all his muscles were accustomed to this training before strengthening his bones.
Even though it was because this was his first time using this kind of training method, he could feel that his body became even tougher despite faint. This sense of achievement alone could keep Kimura Muyang going.
As his body grew accustomed to the intensity of the lightning, he gradually increased the intensity to toughen his body even more. Eventually, Kimura Muyang could feel his muscles twitching, and as if some impurities inside him were purified by the lightning, he could feel the muscles in his body becoming more flexible and brimming with vitality.
After an hour, Kimura Muyang stood back up and relaxed his muscles for a while. Even though he could barely feel any pain, his whole body was completely numb and sore. However, that was nothing if it meant getting much stronger than he currently was.
Kimura Muyang couldn’t help but smile wryly once he coped a feel on his hair that became rigid and spiky once again. Was it inevitable for him to have the same hairstyle as Love? He could only pray that his hair would return to normal after a shower.
Fortunately, after rinsing his hair, it returned to normal, and he breathed a sigh of relief for that. Otherwise, he would’ve gone and got a buzzcut for sure.

Time flew. For Shinigami, who had a long lifespan, the flow of time felt even faster for them compared to normal humans, so 6 months felt like a blink of an eye for them, and It was the time for graduation for some of Shin’ō Academy’s students.
“Hey, Kimura. The graduation ceremony will be held soon. What are you doing still enjoying yourself in the pond?”
Aranmaru Shishin rebuked irritatedly, “Do you even know how many Captains will be attending today’s graduation ceremony? Not only 8th Division Captain Kyōraku, 12th Division Captain Hikifune, 13th Division Captain Ukitake, but also 11th Division Captain Kuruyashiki is coming! This is unheard of. There used to be only three captains attending the graduation ceremony at most. Not to mention this time, Captain Kuruyashiki is attending too! “
When it came to Captain Kuruyashiki, Aranmaru Shishin sure was passionate. It seemed that he truly admired him.
Kimura Muyang resurfaced from the pond and looked at Aranmaru Shishin with a helpless face, “You’ll be joining the 11th Division anyway, right? You’ll be able to see him all the time from now on, so what are you all excited about?”
At some point, Kimura Muyang was curious to find out what would happen if he trained using Shiun’s power underwater. To his surprise, it worked like wonder. Aside from the fact that his hair didn’t turn spiky like usual, the effect from the training also improved, probably because the lightning was applied both internally externally.
However, this method also had its downsides. For example, there was no fish to be found in the pond where Kimura Muyang was in. That was because all of them already electrocuted to death during his first training there.
After putting on his clothes and placed his Zanpakuto on his sash, Kimura Muyang finally said: “Alright, alright. It’d be fine as long as I go, right?”. He then made his way to the school.
“I’ve asked this before, Kimura, but I don’t understand why you would spend everyday training in the water.”
“I already told you that it’s more effective if I trained underwater.”
“Tsk.” Aranmaru Shishin clicked his tongue because Kimura Muyang’s explanation was as half-assed as always and then immediately asked: “Speaking of which, why didn’t you train in Kidō instead? Had you spent all those time underwater learning Kidō, you might’ve become the best Kidō user among us, students, even though your Kidō right now isn’t bad. That way, you would’ve gained the upper hand to join the Division you want.”
“It doesn’t matter. I still got plenty of time, anyway. I can learn Kidō anytime in the future, so I’d rather focus on training my Zanjutsu and Zanpakuto for now.” Kimura Muyang replied. It would take a while before the plot started anyway. He still got more than 200 years, so he wasn’t particularly worried about Kidō or even picking Division…
“Didn’t I tell you?” Kimura Muyang said as he turned to Aranmaru Shishin.
“What?”
“Captain Hikifune offered me to become the 12th Division Lieutenant.”
“What!?” Aranmaru Shishin said incredulously, “Lieutenant? Being offered to become a Lieutenant as soon as you graduated! Since when did you…?”
“Probably half a year ago.” Aranmaru Shishin just smiled wryly as he froze in the spot while Kimura Muyang kept walking. “Hurry up. Otherwise, you might not be able to see Captain Kuruyashiki.”
“Ah!” Hearing Kimura Muyang’s words, Aranmaru Shishin quickly caught up. However, the surprised look was still clear on his face: “Kimura, you really are something else, even the Captains may be overshadowed today by your fame.”
“You’re definitely exaggerating right now.”
“I’m not. Serving as a Lieutenant right after graduation was unheard of, after all.”
“Haha~~haha~~” Kimura Muyang laughed awkwardly. This time he was the one who froze after hearing Aranmaru Shishin’s words. He didn’t want to be the center of attention for sure, especially on a day where a lot of people would come like today.

“Wow, there are so many people. Is there no classes today?”
“Kimura, don’t tell me you forgot? On graduation day, everyone would assemble in this square, expecting the Captains’ arrival.”
“Well, this is my first year, so I don’t know about the past years.”
“You really are….” Aranmaru Shishin was at a loss for words as he looked at Kimura Muyang helplessly, “Forget it, you didn’t come to class most of the time, anyway.”
“Look, the second one on the left is Captain Kuruyashiki. I really want to serve and fight side to side with him.” Aranmaru Shishin looked at the tall man standing proudly along with other Captains with admiring eyes.
