Chapter 17 - Distressed Heart
Chapter 17 - Distressed Heart
"Brother Su, let me take you to your room"
Su Liwei didn’t say anything but nodded and silently followed her to upstairs. The mansion was big with many rooms and stairs. All the way Jing Tian wouldn’t stop talking while Su Liwei only said a word or two. It was not unusual for him. He was naturally a quiet and aloof person. She showed him to the room, opened the door and guided him inside.
"You can leave." He dismissed her while taking off his coat. He was feeling oddly hot.
When he turned, he saw Jing Tian still standing there, staring at him, having no intentions to leave.
"What do you want?"
"Brother Su, you know that I’ve always admired you." She approached him slowly. Only now Su Liwei noticed that she was wearing very... revealing clothes. "Ever since I first set my eyes on you, I knew you were the one for me. I could give up anything for your love. Just for the chance to stand by your side."
"What do you want?" He repeated; his voice grew a bit icy, warning her to not cross the lines. But Jing Tian was too ignorant to trace that warning.
"Have you not realized by now that what I want?... It is you that I want. Why did you treat me coldly in front of everyone? Tell me, Brother Su. What did I do wrong? You always used to treat me kindly in the past. Where did I go wrong?"

"I’m your brother-in-law now. It would be better if you forget the past and keep your distance."
"Brother Su" Her eyes glistened, looking quite moving as if she was heartbroken due to the coldness in his tune. "You never loved JieJie, didn’t you? You said it yourself. That you are only marrying her because of your grandfather’s coercion."
"Whatever I said, doesn’t matter anymore. She is my wife now and you are my sister-in-law."
Jing Tian was shocked.
"You wouldn’t even look at her once you realized what she did! She put a drug in your tea. Did you know that? Would you still be willing to have her as your wife after her desperate ways to get in your bed when you clearly don’t want her?"
"How do you know that?"
"I saw her lurking around the kitchen, talking to a maid. When I interrogated her, she told me that Jing Lihua ordered her to put a drug in your tea or else she would hurt her family."
Su Liwei was silent. He knew exactly what kind of a person Jing Tian was. He wouldn’t be foolish to believe her words. She was only a small chess piece in a bigger game, a piece that no longer had any use for him.
"Do you doubt me, Brother Su? If you do, I can call for the maid..."
"No need, you can leave."
"You don’t believe my words..."
"Whether I believe you or not, gives no reason for you to stay here."
"Are you sure you want me to leave?" Jing Tian stepped forward. "I know you are in pain. You try hard to hide it but you can’t hide it from me. Nobody can know you better than me Su Liwei. If you want me, I’ll have no objection. My heart was always yours. What is it to give you my body?" She raised her hand and touched his arm. "I wouldn’t ask you to take responsibility afterwards."
"You wouldn’t dare to touch me" His voice was cold as ever. Calm yet strong, revealing no emotion at all.
Jing Tian’s heart chilled. Didn’t He Zongying say that no one could resist the temptation of that aphrodisiac?
"B-Brother Su..." She tried to look weak. "Whatever you want, I will..."
"I want you to get out of here, right now."
"But..."
"Get out!" His hold over her wrist tightened to a painful extent before he threw away her arm as if disgusted by her. If her tears were fake before, now they were real.
"I-I..."
"Jing Tian, I’ve never raised a hand on a woman before. Do not make me go against my morals."
His eyes looked quite terrifying. Jing Tian had heard stories, a lot of stories, about him. That how he tortured those who crossed him. Some of the families would even disappear from the world overnight. She didn’t dare to provoke him any further.
Once again finding his solitude, he struggled to keep himself calm anymore. Women always disgusted him. What could a simple drug do to reverse it? But whenever he closed his eyes to sleep, a picture of certain someone would flash across his eyes.
He couldn’t know whether it was the effect of that drug or the chaotic weather, his restrained heart strongly yearned for something. Something far beyond his reach. Something that he knew was forbidden for him. But still, his concern regarding her distressed his calm heart to no end.
She drank the tea, didn’t she?
What was Jing Tian planning to do with her?
