Chapter 51: Posturing, The Right Way.
Chapter 51: Posturing, The Right Way.
Laz stopped just before he set his foot on the fire escape. As he thought about it, he realized that maybe he shouldn't just pop out and start swinging. After all, considering his size and face, he definitely wasn't going to look scary in the slightest. Luckily, he learned one very important lesson from Tony. When your going to do commit a crime, don't let them see your face.
He quickly slipped his mask on from out of his backpack and slid the backpack aside. He had almost forgotten he was carrying it since the recent changes he had been going through made it's weight practically unnoticeable.
As he took a minute to adjust it, he couldn't help but wondering how he would look at the moment. He wasn't exactly dressed up like a hired thug as he was wearing faded jeans and an old Journey tee shirt his dad had left in the apartment he was now living in. It didn't exactly scream intimidation.
Depending on what he was going to get paid, Laz felt he should probably get some new clothes. He probably would need to dress the part if anyone was going to take him seriously.
In the time it took for Laz to slide the mask on and ponder his fashion sense, Kennedy had been surrounded by the three wannabe mobsters. They looked like they walked out of a bad 50's Noir movie and smelled like they were competing in who could wear the most body spray without gassing themselves to death. Kennedy couldn't help but take a step back and cover her mouth. She couldn't help but feel nauseated by these over dressed assholes.
"Hey little girl, did you forget what we told you?" The slightly shorter and somewhat balding man in the lead asked while looking at Kennedy with a rather twisted smile.
"Well, if it isn't Angelo. No, I didn't forget, I just don't give a shit about you and your two jerking buddies here," Kennedy replied while taking a few more steps back. She couldn't help but wonder why anyone would want to smell that strongly.
"Hey boss! This little thing has quite the mouth on her huh?" said the rather large and roundish guy on Angelo's left.
"Yeah boss. It would be a shame to let such an active mouth go to waste. How's about we take a little interest before chasing her out of town, huh?" Added the tall and slightly muscular man on Angelo's right while sporting a evil glint in his eye.
Angelo thought about it for a second before looking straight at Kennedy.
"Well, what do you say little thing? How's about giving me and my guys a bit of service before you get the fuck out of here? I might even throw in a couple of bucks if i'm really satisfied."

Kennedy wasn't exactly dressed like a teenager at the moment and these guys probably thought she was quite a bit older than 16, but they probably wouldn't have cared either way. For guys like this, they got what they wanted, especially because they were part of a rather large gang in the nearby city.
Kennedy had been backing up out of reflex as the guys were getting closer and closer. Although she could have just ran, her still normal instincts were taking hold despite her trying to calm herself down. She couldn't help but wonder where her backup was since it seemed like he was taking his sweet time before handling these guys.
As the guys were almost within touching distance of Kennedy, they suddenly heard an impact and felt the ground shake slightly, followed by the cracking of pavement. Laz had just jumped from the top of the building and landed in a half kneeling position with his palm smacking down, causing his stance to have a tripod-like support.
'Are you fricking kidding me?' was Kennedy's only thought. 'He could have just jumped down normally after having come down slowly, but no. This little kid decided to pull off a superhero landing.'
Although she was a bit angry at his delay and posturing, she couldn't help but laugh quietly as well. Despite the stupidity of it, it was actually kind of cute. Too many people care way too much about their image.
'No matter how strong he is, he has to be hurting a hell of a lot right now.'
And Kennedy was right. As Laz was squatting in the center of the circle of cracked payment, he wanted nothing more than to scream out.
'Fuck, fuck, fuckity fuck...' Laz couldn't help but swear in his head while he gritted his teeth and endured. That was definitely one of the dumbest things he had done, even if it had seemed like a good idea at the time. He was trying to make an impression to scare the guys, or to impress Kennedy. He wasn't exactly sure which.
The only plus side he could find while he tried to stand up slowly was that he hadn't broken anything, which was amazing in itself.
Ironically, he hadn't landed within distance of the street light so Angelo and friends had no idea what he looked like. More than that, they couldn't tell that he was in a boat load of pain right now either..
If anything, his slowness in standing straight gave an otherworldly and mysterious aura to his actions. The three thugs couldn't help but take a step back at the sight. Obviously this guy had fallen a long way to have cracked the pavement like that and they weren't just thinking off the top of a building.
'Did he just fall out of a airplane or some shit?' The three thugs couldn't help but look up, as though wanting to spot the plane with their own eyes no matter how impossible it would have been.
Their search proved fruitless though so they turned back to the dark silhouette in the alley. Although it had finally risen to a complete standing position, it was still half leaning with it's head down. Angelo and friends couldn't help but feel scared at this moment. Nothing in their lives could have prepared them for this kind of situation. When did people stand up after falling from an airplane.
Kennedy was doing her best not to ruin the mood, but it was very, very hard. She knew that all of this was happening because he injured himself. She found that she wasn't actually worried about him since had he been in trouble, he would have told her. Instead, she almost wished she had a good chair and some popcorn since these types of shows are few and far between. All this lead to her almost being unable to hold back the laughter.
No matter how much this young man tried to posture, she could see through it in a moment. But it was so much fun being around him.
Laz wasn't exactly amused at the moment. He felt his muscles clamped up like a vice as he tried to stand and he couldn't move how he wanted to, hence why he was so stiff in moving. He was looking down since his neck was as stiff as hell and he was partly leaning since he leg was in a similar state. Apparently, he shouldn't try this again.
Lifting his leg, Laz scrunched his face as he put all is effort into it, picking it all the way up to waist level height before slamming it back down. At least this way he was able to stretch it and loosen it up. He then tensed himself and brought his head up, causing the sound of crackling thunder to echo through the alley. He was finally able to move he head freely and with little thought, looked at the three thugs standing a few dozens of feet in front of him.
This whole event might had been painful for Laz and hysterical for Kennedy, but it was soul numbingly frightening for the street thugs who had no idea what was going on. They were almost hugging themselves with how close together they had huddled, as though they could find safety in each other's arms. They were looking at the black shadow as though it were a demon that had appeared in front of them with no clue what to say or do.
Laz was somewhat at a loss as well. 'Should I just attack them or say something heroic first? I don't want to seem stupid, but it's not like I can disguise my voice. Plus, Kennedy looks like shes about to lose it.'
This was indeed the truth. Kennedy's radiant eyes, slightly reflecting the light from the street lamp were moving back and forth between the two groups as though she didn't want to miss a minute of this. Laz could see her lips twitch any number of times as she tried to keep a serious look on her face.
Laz was actually getting more and more frustrated though since he couldn't decide what to do. He wasn't trying to be overly dramatic, but he was trying to be a bit showy for Kennedy. He found that he somewhat enjoyed the way she looked when she smiled.
Even he didn't know why he was feeling this way, but it seemed like after having met a bit with Malene and having to deal with her rather childish behavior, he somewhat preferred women like Kennedy more. They were a bit easier to deal with since they were way more forward be it a good or bad.
Due to his frustration and agitation, his blood started to boil a bit and with it, his eyes began to shine a bright red. In the darkness of the shadows, he now looked especially menacing. For those looking at him however, they had completely different feelings.
Angelo, meatball, and muscle head couldn't help but shiver in fear. Although none of them would admit it, one of them had pissed themselves at this moment. Angelo was probably the most impressive of the three of them at this moment. He managed to collect himself enough to pull a 9mm out of his jacket and aim it at the monster in the alley.
This action also caused the other two to calm down slightly and pull out their own guns, taking aim at the unknown creature.
Kennedy's reaction was much different. She felt her heartbeat increase drastically as she looked into those blood red, bright eyes. She almost felt like her body was on fire and she wanted nothing more than to get closer to that demonic light, drowning herself in the blaze. She showed almost no trace of the mature big sister currently and instead was giving off an aggression like an aroused beast. Deadly and dangerous, yet strangely exotic. Her breathing quicken and she could feel small beads of sweat dripping down her entire body. If she wasn't out in public, she would have wanted nothing more than to touch herself and drown herself in peasure as she was already so close to orgasiming. It was hell to hold it back.
Luckily, Laz's gaze only remained on her for a moment before turning back to the three thugs.
