Chapter 1497 Underground Room

Chapter 1497  Underground Room

Just from a quick glance, he couldn't see anything of value inside of the building, but this wasn't enough to discourage him, as he very well understood that anything valuable that might have been left behind in the past should have been hidden to some extent.

Of course, to ensure that he didn't accidentally end up triggering some kind of ancient formation that might be present inside of the ruins, he didn't dare to use his divine sense or domain to quickly search through the ruins. Instead opting to slowly look through the ruins himself so he would have a better chance of spotting any dangerous traps before he ended up triggering them.

The little divine sense he had used earlier when he had first stepped into this ancient city had mostly been concentrated around the streets and avoided any of the buildings inside of the city for this exact reason.

If there happened to be a formation in place protecting the entire city, he would have already discovered it and more importantly, he would not have any way to counter it.

With that in mind, there was still a chance that there was a formation in place, just that it didn't trigger unless the ancient city itself was damaged, though the chance for that was low considering the ancient city should have ended up in its current state after having been attacked in the past…

Rustle~

Moving through the rubble, Chu Yang suddenly froze on the spot as he heard the sound of movement coming from a small corner of the rubble.

"Hm? A demon beast…?"

Looking closer at where the sound of movement came from, he quickly discovered a small demon beast peeking out through the rubble before quickly darting away into another pile of rocks to hide. Clearly having been scared off by his appearance.

Considering that the strength of the demon beast in question was only around the early stage of the Qi Condensation Relam, this kind of reaction was understandable, but its presence alone indicated to Chu Yang that the ancient city ruins were not completely safe from demon beasts. Alerting him to the fact that there might be other, stronger demon beasts hidden among the ancient ruins that he had not yet managed to run into.

Although… Given that he had already searched through most of the city, the only location where any powerful demon beast could be hidden would be inside of the building, he currently found himself inside of.

Even if this was reassuring to some extent, it was also worrying, as he soon finished searching through the entire building without finding anything outside of a stairwell leading down into what he could only presume to be some kind of underground section of the building or possibly even an entire underground city hidden below ground.

There was a good chance of it being either of the two, but the more important thing was that he had clearly seen a few other demon beasts coming from the stairwell while he had made his way through the rubble of the building and exploring it in its entirety.

Meaning that the origin of the demon beasts inside of the ancient city came from the underground section of the city. Any stronger demon beasts he found would undoubtedly come from down there.

"At least let there not be any demon beast in the Soul Ascension Realm or above…" Muttering this to himself as he found himself standing in front of the stairwell leading down into the last unexplored section of the ancient city, Chu Yang cautiously took a step forward as he descended into the darkness below. Unaware of what dangers could be lurking down there…

"Huh? This is…"

However, as he arrived at the bottom of the stairwell, he could not help letting out a somewhat confused sound. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

The reason being that the underground part of the city that he had expected to be some kind of large underground section similar to an underground cave with demon beasts lurking in the shadows was not at all like that. Instead, all he was met with upon reaching the bottom of the stairwell was a small room decorated with finely cut stones lining the walls and a few small crystals providing the room with light for him to see.

Not only did this confuse him as to where the demon beasts he had encountered so far had come from, but it also made him wonder what kind of secret this small room served. After all, for it to be under what he guessed to be the most important building in the ancient city, it should serve some kind of purpose in the past before the ancient city collapsed.

The only problem, he could not find any clue as to what kind of purpose the small room might have served in the past. The reason for this was rather simple, as outside of the finely decorated walls, there was nothing inside of the small room outside of the flat stone floor.

Looking around, he couldn't even find any signs of there ever having been anything inside of the small room. Making him believe that whatever purpose this room had served in the past and the thing that should have been stored in the room in the past, had long since been taken away or decayed to the point that there were no traces left behind in the small room.

To make the situation even more confusing than it already was, a corner of the pristine room was occupied by a dozen or so demon beasts similar to the once he had spotted during his search through the ancient ruins above ground.

The only difference he could find with these demon beasts and the others he had encountered so far was the fact that these demon beasts didn't seem to be afraid of him as they continued moving around in the small space, they had carved out for themselves inside the small room.

No… It's not because they aren't afraid of me, but instead more like they can't see me…

Narrowing both of his eyes as he noticed something clearly off about the small bundle of demon beasts inside the small room, Chu Yang could not help frowning to himself as he stopped himself from taking another step forward into the small room.

Whoosh~

Deciding to use his divine sense to investigate before stepping inside himself, he found nothing out of the ordinary.

However, given that he now focused on the demon beasts inside and saw that they were acting out of the ordinary, he still didn't feel safe entering the small room. Instead, continuing to use his divine sense to find anything out of the ordinary outside of the demon beasts inside of the small room.

In the end, he noticed that outside of the demon beasts and the fact that they now seemed to be avoiding moving around certain locations inside the small room and even feared walking through certain parts of the small, he also noticed that a small section of the pristine and intricately decorated wall had cracked.

The crack in question was almost completely invisible to the naked eye and would have been impossible to notice without using his divine sense to thoroughly investigate the small room.

In the end, it was through this small crack in the wall that he noticed a barely visible formation symbol through the crack in the wall

"A formation? And one that is inscribed into the walls of the small room. If I had recklessly entered the small room, I would likely have been trapped inside the formation…"

Feeling a shiver run down his spine upon realizing that the small room was actually some kind of formation, it was not hard to imagine his fate if he had ended up entering the small room without any preparations.

Is the situation inside the small room actually different from what I see?

Along with the realization that the small room should in fact be some kind of ancient formation, he also realized that the situation inside of the small room should be vastly different from what he was seeing at the moment.

At the very least, it looked like the demon beasts inside should be real, but everything outside of that shouldn't be real. The places the demon beasts were avoiding were most probably dangerous areas inside of the formation that he couldn't see at the moment.

The demon beasts he had encountered outside should have been the ones among the group of demon beasts that had managed to successfully escape through the formation and reach the outside.

Whoosh~!

With that in mind, Chu Yang immediately turned around and left the underground space. Intending to catch one of these demon beasts and have them help him find the safe way to enter this small underground room without accidently triggering the formation inside and killing himself the moment he stepped into the small underground room.
