Dark Berserker: Rise of the Forgotten Progenitor

Chapter 25: Shadow Merge

Chapter 25: Shadow Merge

Lia lay on a queen-sized bed with her raven hair spread haphazardly. She wore her usual black gown, but this one was transparent, revealing her magnetic milky white skin that glistened with a tantalizing allure of sexuality.

Lia's gem-like eyes flickered as she thought about her master. He did not make her his maid but to cling onto him and make sure she sees his face every day, Lia assumed the position of his personal maid.

'I wonder what he's doing?' she queried inwardly. Pressing her plump pink lips, her exquisitely carved brows knitted and her creases formed on her flawless forehead.

"Ugh! I can't bear this torture!" she screamed and vanished. The next moment, she appeared in the throne room and gazed at the throne with a boiling surge of longing.

It became much harder now that she had seen her Lord again, only for him to leave. A decade meant nothing to her, but now a second seemed to burn her skin.

'I want him,' she whispered, her voice drifting through the air until it dispersed. It was an unimaginable sight to some for a woman; exceptionally beautiful and also of a supreme race yearned for a man who had barely reached the mortal tier (Ist).

Suddenly, her eyes dilated for a text to appear on her retina.

[your extreme passion for your Lord has touched THE MOTHER, and you have been granted the skill: Shadow merge!]

[Shadow merge: your confinement to the Night castle would be removed for thirty minutes every day and you will be teleported to the shadow of your lord]

[A special gift custom-made for Lia Hecate Athelstone. Prerequisite: your tier will be suppressed to the Esteemed Tier (Tier 3)]

"Do not mention my mother's name, for I have long rejected it." Lia's brows furrowed and her icy tone matched her frosty gaze.

[your name has been boldly written with her origin blood and THE MOTHER only recognizes this name.]

Due to her tier, Lia could sometimes receive answers from the system and, as usual, the system was blunt, which always made her furious.

"Ahh! I hate that woman!" Lia yelled with burning eyes. Her eye literally burned with red flames and a powerful aura billowed off her, causing the candles to flicker.

"Lia, go fast, for his life is in danger," a pleasant motherly voice rang in the delicate walls of her eardrums and Lia's thought quickly restructured from boiling hatred and anger to unimaginable worry and fear.

Bam! Cristian rolled for a respectful distance. He blocked the fire wolf's sneak attack, but his unstable position put him in this current situation.

"Shit!" he cursed when he saw Sheila's wobbly figure. The diagram faded as Sheila finally lost the last drop of her mana and fell to the ground.

Graa!!

A loud howl rang, and the wolves howled in response. Cristian turned and saw the Dark Lord enlarge, his clothes ripped as his muscles got bigger and hairs rapidly grew out.

His mouth protruded, and his teeth became thick and sharp. Even from the distance, Cristian could hear his bones cracking as his knees bent backward and two furry ears came out from the top of his head.

The man turned into a full-fledged lycanthrope, and his roars made his ears quake. The Lycan shot forward with extreme speed, its ghastly red eyes zeroed on Sheila, and Cristian sighted it.

Swinging his sword without skill or determined movements, the fire wolf had no choice but to back away from this mad berserker.

Graa!

Flames spurted from its mouth toward him. The heat alone made his skin tingle, but he was determined to damage this irritating wolf! From the corner of his eyes, he could see the Lycan approaching.

But its eyes weren't on him. Cristian knew the Dark Lord wanted nothing more than to tear Sheila apart because she had been the major cause of his problem.

If there was no Sheila, then this town would have become a feeding den, and a good number of his wolves might evolve.

The scene of Cristian running towards the burning flames shone in Sheila's blurry eyes and she raised her hands, only to realize not even a shred of mana remained.

Powerlessly, she watched him recklessly head toward the flames, but before he met with it; he leaped, stretched his hands, and grabbed the arm of the Lycan, which Sheila just saw for the first time.

In the same motion, his blade left opened a large gash on the fire wolf's back and the beast whimpered.

Bam!

Both Cristian and the Lycan fell to the ground, and as they rolled, a contest of strength erupted. Cristian's eyes glowed with burning green flames, for he activated eyes of truth and mind.

But all he could hear was 'KILL!!'

Instead of manipulating his thoughts, it became the opposite, for the insane mantra clouded his mind.

With no other choice, his eyes stopped glowing, both man and beast separated, and he reached out for Burning Fury a few meters away.

However, the Dark Lord lunged toward him. A bloody claw mark appeared on Cristian's hard abs, and blackish-red blood seeped out, ruining his white top.

Fueled with pain and unshackled fury, he balled his hands and launched a devastating punch that sent the Dark Lord to the ground.

He grunted deeply and dragged his feet to his sword. As his fingers wrapped around the hilt, Cristian felt strength return to his exhausted body, but he forgot about the wolf that sought vengeance.

Emerging from the flames, a two-meter-tall fire wolf took his weary state to its advantage and opened its massive jaws.

"Ahh!"

His loud voice dripping with both agony and volcanic fury pierced through the night as the fire wolf bit his shoulder.

Its fangs sunk into his flesh, almost touching his bones. "You've doomed yourself." His tone sounded demonic, causing the wolf's eyes to widen, but it was too late.

It tapped into the source of decay itself and there was only one result.

The Dark Lord's smile vanish when he saw his treasured wolf leave the warrior and stagger, its flames reduced and kept on reducing as the beast whimpered.

An internal war between affinities raged inside its body, but compared to its inferior flames, Decay belonged to a class of its own. A rank not even paragons could determine.

"Firestorm!!" the Dark wolf screamed when the warrior who should be dead got up from his knees and slashed off his beast's head.

Flames raged in the background, illuminating Cristian's haggard looks as he breathed roughly. His green eyes stared at the beast, which gradually decayed. The moment he killed it, Decay took over and devoured its meal.

[Congratulations Cristian/ Vladimir Athelstone for you have slayed a rare beast! Strength + 5, Agility + 5, Stamina +5]

"AHH!... MEDUSA!" the Dark Lord screamed like a deranged man. His eyes gleamed with insanity, for that was the only wolf that had gained access to evolution for over a decade!

Along with his voice, an icy chill spread through the battlefield, quenching the flames, and a magnetic hiss echoed from the depths of the forest.
