CHAPTER 481 – Rise in Power
December had descended upon the city, casting its festive spell across the streets and alleys.
The urban landscape hummed with life, a vibrant contrast to the chilly air that hinted at the impending winter.
Everywhere, shops had donned their holiday attire, bedecked in glittering lights and ornaments, intentionally proclaiming that the season of joy had arrived.
The night sky was a canvas of celestial wonders. The moon hung like a luminous jewel in the sky, casting its silvery glow upon the earth below.
Stars twinkled like distant diamonds, lending an ethereal beauty to the nocturnal symphony. The air, while crisp and cold, was yet to fully embrace the icy grasp of winter, allowing residents to wander the streets in light clothing without shivering.
Yet, amidst the vivacity of the city, there existed a fairly large room in a house cocooned in darkness and isolation. The room emanated an air of intimacy and secrecy, where two figures sat across from each other at a dimly lit table.
The contrast between the women was stark but complementary, one draped in a form-fitting black dress that exuded an air of mystery, while the other adorned herself in a white gown that seemed to radiate a serene elegance.
Both of the ladies looked beautiful and elegant despite the difference in attire.
The older woman, Shen Chan-Juan, leaned forward, her gaze fixed intently on her companion.
Her voice, seasoned by the years, carried a touch of dry amusement as she inquired, "So, you're suggesting that I embark on a quest to find you a suitable man?"

Yu An, the younger woman, met her aunt's gaze steadily. "Yes," she affirmed with a resolute nod. "I don't know how long I'll have to wait until you can do this. I understand your age is a factor, but I trust your expertise."
A sigh escaped Shen Chan-Juan's lips, her fingers tracing an invisible pattern on the table. "You do realize that I'm not exactly a spring chicken anymore, right?"
Yu An nodded. "I am well aware of your age, Auntie." Yu An's lips curved into a knowing smile. "Age is but a number. And when it comes to matters of the heart, your experience is invaluable."
She smiled at her niece's reply before she continued. "I am also not the kind of person who goes around looking for men to date. It's just... difficult to meet someone who is suitable."
"Well, if anyone knows, it's you. You've dated so many different types over the years."
Shen Chan-Juan chuckled softly before leaning in, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "You do remember, Yu An, that most of my relationships have been short-lived? They were never meant to last. Besides, none were ever serious or even remotely met my standards."
Yu An shook her head gently. "You're too modest, Auntie. There were some who left an impact, but we both know how those stories concluded – breaking of hearts. We decided that it was better to keep things as they are than to risk getting hurt that way again. So…"
"So?"
"We stopped dating altogether. Instead, we focused more on ourselves and what matters the most to us."
Shen Chan-Juan's eyes softened as she regarded Yu An. "You've always been wise beyond your years."
A smile graced Yu An's lips. "That's because I have the best mentor."
Their camaraderie was evident, an unspoken understanding between two kindred spirits. Yet, there was a palpable shift in the air as Shen Chan-Juan's expression grew more serious.
" I'm glad you mentioned that Yu An. We both know what our ultimate goal is here," the older lady commented.
Yu An's gaze intensified, her eyes alight with determination. "Indeed. How could I forget, Auntie. We're here to make our mark and to disrupt the landscape of the entertainment and business sector."
Shen Chan-Juan leaned in, her voice dripping with a hint of mischief as she corrected. "But remember, dear, the objective isn't just to find men."
"Nah. Auntie, you seem to forget who rules all of these sectors. "Men are just a means to an end—a means to infiltrate the powerful circles of Stellar Domain. It is time to socialize and familiarize ourselves with them," Yu An replied with a teasing smile.
A spark of understanding ignited in Shen Chan-Juan's eyes. "You're not just looking for business, are you? You want to get married?"
A mischievous glint danced in Yu An's eyes. "Eventually, yes if I meet a man of worthy standards ready to catch my eyes and no."
Shen Chan-Juan lifted her brow quizzically. "Let's just say I'm pursuing something much grander, Yu An explained.
Shen Chan-Juan leaned back, a satisfied grin tugging at her lips. "You got eyes on someone important in mind?"
Yu An's smile held a secret, a playful mystery. "Oh, indeed. A certain Young Master has caught my attention."
The intrigue in Shen Chan-Juan's expression was palpable. "Do tell, who is this fortunate young master?"
Yu An leaned in, her voice a conspiratorial whisper. "Sun Yichen."
Shen Chan-Juan's reaction was instantaneous, her jaw dropping in disbelief. "What? You are going after Sun Yichen?" she gasped. "Are you out of your damn mind?"
Yu An's laughter was light and carefree as she shrugged her aunt's worry off. "Who knows? Perhaps sanity is overrated, Auntie. It's boring simply put. I'm a proud mixture of normal for the sane world and I prefer a touch of madness to seize what I desire."
Shen Chan-Juan's eyes held a mixture of concern and curiosity. "But he's engaged!"
Yu An's shrug was nonchalant, her smile enigmatic. "Not yet. And besides, there's a bigger fish waiting to be caught."
Intrigued by Yu An's audacity and new catch, Shen Chan-Juan leaned closer. "Tell me more about this intriguing target. What makes him so special?"
A cryptic smile graced Yu An's lips. "It's not something easily explained, Auntie. Bu I do know that there's a connection between us that defies words. As for his name, I'll leave that for you to decipher."
