Chapter 258
Li Yi quickly bought the items Feng Qingyi needed. "Miss, I've got the saltpeter. Is this enough?"
Feng Qingyi was stunned by the large bag Li Yi was carrying. "Why did you buy so much?"
"This stuff is practically worthless. It's everywhere outside the city," Li Yi explained.
Feng Qingyi: "Please help me carry it to the backyard, and then find a large basin and some smaller ones."
"Alright, I'll go borrow a big basin from the pig butcher down the street!" Li Yi hurried off.
Feng Qingyi held her forehead, "It doesn't need to be that big!"
Xu Linghe asked, "Qingyi, what's the saltpeter for?"
Feng Qingyi replied, "You'll see in a moment. There are actually other ways to make ice, but using saltpeter is more convenient."
Li Yi returned with the butcher, carrying a large basin into the backyard. Several waiters from the Tea House gathered around, curious to see what was happening.
Li Yi also found some smaller basins from the kitchen. "Miss, will these do?"
Feng Qingyi nodded, "They're fine. Please help fill the large basin halfway with water."
Everyone followed Feng Qingyi's instructions, and soon the basin was filled with water.
Feng Qingyi then had them fill the smaller basins with water and place them inside the large one.
"Can this really make ice?" Li Yi asked.
Feng Qingyi smiled, "Of course it can. Linghe, let's put the saltpeter into the large basin together."
Xu Linghe nodded, "Alright."

They added the saltpeter to the large basin, where it quickly dissolved in the water.
Feng Qingyi checked the water in the small basins, "Let's add a bit more."
"It's really turning into ice! This is amazing!"
"Look, the water in these basins has all turned to ice. I never knew making ice could be so easy!"
Xu Linghe touched the ice in the basin, "Qingyi, you're incredible!"
Feng Qingyi: "It's just basic knowledge. You can try it at home too."
"We can take these ice blocks to the kitchen for now. Let's find a larger container to make bigger ice blocks for the main hall to cool it down."
The waiters quickly found suitable containers and successfully made larger ice blocks following the same method. They then carried the ice to the main hall.
Feng Qingyi and Xu Linghe sat in the hall to feel the difference. It was indeed much cooler than before, especially when the wind blew.
Feng Qingyi stared at the large block of ice, lost in thought. It seemed they would need to create some special containers for the ice.
"Qingyi, what are you thinking about?" Xu Linghe asked.
"Nothing much, just thinking we should make more containers to hold the ice, and spread them around," Feng Qingyi said.
Xu Linghe: "I think this is already quite good. I've seen other places just put one block of ice in the center."
Feng Qingyi considered, "Putting it in the center would interfere with people's movement. It's better to make suitable containers so we can place more ice blocks around."
"That works. If you know what style you want, we can have them made now," Xu Linghe suggested.
Feng Qingyi found pen and paper at the counter and drew designs for ice containers. She then asked Li Yi to find someone to make them.
"Linghe, come with me to the kitchen. I'll make you something delicious to drink."
Xu Linghe stood up eagerly, "Great! Let's go quickly. I remember you mentioned this before."
"Let's see what we can use in the kitchen first."
They arrived in the kitchen, which wasn't as hot as expected due to the ice blocks placed there.
Feng Qingyi spotted some oranges on the table. "There are oranges here. Let's make orange oolong tea."
"Alright, do you need my help?" Xu Linghe asked.
Feng Qingyi looked around, "You don't have a juicer here, so we'll have to juice by hand. Could you peel these oranges and cut the flesh into small pieces on a plate?"
"Sure." Xu Linghe took a few oranges and began peeling and slicing them.
Meanwhile, Feng Qingyi brewed some oolong tea and set it aside to cool.
Once Xu Linghe had finished cutting the oranges, Feng Qingyi found a mortar and pestle. She placed the chopped fruit in the mortar and began grinding to extract the juice.
Soon, they had orange juice. Feng Qingyi poured it into glasses, added a little oolong tea on top, and dropped in some ice cubes.
Xu Linghe looked at the color in the glass, "It doesn't look very appetizing."
Feng Qingyi handed her a glass, "Try it. If it's too sour, we can add some sugar."
Xu Linghe took the glass skeptically and took a sip. "It's actually quite good!"
Feng Qingyi poured a glass for herself as well. "I find it a bit sour. I'll add some sugar to mine."
"I like sour drinks. This is perfect for me as it is," Xu Linghe said.
Feng Qingyi: "Then drink up. It's perfect for summer."
Xu Linghe asked, "Are you planning to sell this tea?"
Feng Qingyi shook her head, "I just made this for fun. If we were to sell it, we'd need to prepare some things. These tea cups aren't suitable for such drinks."
"What do you need? You could write it down and have the waiters buy it," Xu Linghe suggested.
Feng Qingyi: "Some things aren't available here. I need to go back home for a bit. Would you like to come with me?"
"To your place?" Xu Linghe asked.
Feng Qingyi nodded, "Yes, would you like to go?"
Xu Linghe: "Of course! I saw glimpses of your life in that vision before. I'd love to see it for real."
Feng Qingyi: "Then let's go to the private room upstairs. We can return from there."
Xu Linghe took Feng Qingyi's hand, "Let's go then!"
Feng Qingyi once again brought Xu Linghe to the villa. After freshening up, Feng Qingyi took her to the supermarket.
In the supermarket, Xu Linghe was curious about everything, looking here and there like an inquisitive child.
Feng Qingyi followed her shopping list, selecting the items they needed to buy.
Xu Linghe wandered around, "Qingyi, there are so many fruits here! Can we buy them all?"
Feng Qingyi nodded, "If there's anything you want, feel free to choose."
"Then I won't hold back!" Xu Linghe picked several large watermelons and put them in the shopping cart.
Feng Qingyi: "As long as you can carry them back, you can buy as many as you want."
"Don't worry, I'm very strong," Xu Linghe said confidently.
The two filled a shopping cart with items. After paying, they each carried two large bags back to the private room in the Tea House.
After moving everything into the kitchen, Feng Qingyi prepared to make cold drinks.
"Qingyi, what are you making now?"
Feng Qingyi: "Some fruit teas. Once they're ready, we can all taste them and choose the best ones to sell."
"Let me help you," Xu Linghe volunteered.
Feng Qingyi nodded, "Alright, you can help cut the fruits."
