Fantasy: The Great Emperor Comes Back

Chapter 18

C18 – Continue to Shock Everyone

In less than a hundred breaths, he reached the ninth floor again?” The elders who had been scoffing at Mo Changyou were now frozen in shock.

Their mouths hung open, disbelief etched across their faces.

Even the disciples were astounded. Mo Changyou hadn’t even used a third of the allotted time.

“How did he manage that?” some of the elders wondered, starting to doubt whether there was a malfunction in the Azure Dragon Pagoda.

Yet, at that moment, the Azure Dragon Pagoda lit up once more, its exit radiating with a brilliant golden glow.

Mo Changyou emerged once again, as if a deity had descended, carrying a young man who seemed nearly unconscious. With a swift motion, he flung the youth to the ground.

“I just made a trip to the Azure Dragon Pagoda and happened to find your son trapped inside. I’ve brought him out,” Mo Changyou said, dropping the young man at the feet of the Third Elder.

Mo Yangning, his mouth smeared with blood, looked severely injured, as helpless as a beaten dog in Mo Changyou’s presence.

“How did this happen?” Mo Yanglin’s once arrogant expression was now twisted with shock and a surge of indignant rage.

If not for Mo Changyou’s intervention, his son might still be lying there.

“Third Elder, it’s time to acknowledge your error,” Mo Changyou said, his gaze fixed on the elder before him.

The agreement was clear: if Mo Changyou reached the ninth level within fifteen minutes, the Third Elder was obliged to concede and apologize.

“How dare you! My father is an elder of the Mo family, the guardian of our family’s economic veins. How can you demand an apology from him?” A cold snort interrupted the moment.

A young man clad in green, clutching his sword, looked at Mo Changyou with scorn.

He exuded the strength of someone at Energy Condensation Level 8, and his posture hinted at a readiness to strike.

This was Mo Yanglin’s eldest son, Mo Yangtian, a prominent contender for the top spot in the Mo family’s youth competition.

Though his talent might not match Mo Yangning’s, his age and ample resources for cultivation made him a formidable presence, one who had often thrown his weight around within the Mo family.

“Mo Changyou, although you did indeed fulfill your agreement with the Third Elder within fifteen minutes, the Third Elder is a person of high esteem. How could he possibly apologize to you? When the time comes, just take an additional two hundred spirit stones and let the matter rest,” the elder who had previously spoken in support of Mo Yanglin interjected.

Despite himself, Mo Changyou couldn’t help but think, “How utterly shameless.”

Mo Yangtian, with his sword in hand, continued to speak. He gave Mo Changyou a cold glance and huffed disdainfully.

Many elders shook their heads in private. A mere Energy Condensation Level 3 youngster expecting the Third Elder to bow his head? Unlikely.

Given the Third Elder’s influence within the Mo family, an apology was out of the question. But he was now confronted by Mo Changyou.

”Mo Yangtian? Are you intending to defy the Mo family’s rules? Who gave you permission to speak before me? Any agreement made in the presence of the Patriarch must be honored in his presence, to uphold the Patriarch’s authority. Those who defy this will either be banished from the Mo family or crippled and left for dead in the wilderness!” Mo Changyou stated calmly, pausing deliberately between each word. He then turned and gave a respectful nod to Mo Lianshen.

“You!” Mo Yangtian was at a loss for words. As a member of the Mo family, he was well aware of the family rules. Yet, he had always been the one enforcing them on others. When had the tables turned on him?

Mo Lianshen observed his nephew and nodded slightly, quite pleased.

It was undeniable that Mo Changyou’s rhetoric had a more profound impact than if he had physically overpowered Mo Yangtian.

He had managed to leave Mo Yangtian without a leg to stand on, speechless.

”How is he so articulate?” Mo Lianshen wondered quietly to himself, looking at Mo Changyou with newfound appreciation.

“I witnessed it myself; the Third Elder indeed made that promise. The Mo family’s rules are sacred and our dignity is not to be challenged. Third Elder, you must fulfill the promise you made,” Mo Lianshen declared.

Mo Yanglin gazed intently at Mo Changyou and the surrounding disciples, his eyes brimming with dark shadows and a dense killing intent swirling within them.

Were it not for his fear of Mo Lianshen’s formidable strength, he would have unhesitatingly gone forth to twist off Mo Changyou’s head.

Yet, Mo Yanglin was a formidable figure himself, with an ironclad will. Narrowing his eyes ever so slightly, he bowed respectfully to Mo Changyou.

“I was wrong earlier,” he admitted, effectively conceding.

The elders of the Mo family were taken aback by this gesture.

Everyone was well aware of the Third Elder’s immense influence within the Mo family; even the Patriarch, Mo Lianshen, struggled to contend with him. Who could have imagined that Mo Changyou would compel him to yield today?

Mo Yanglin’s face was a mask of darkness, his brow furrowed as he shot a glance at Mo Changyou. The lethal intent in his gaze was palpable, almost spilling out tangibly, striking fear into those who witnessed it.

However, Mo Changyou merely nodded with a hint of satisfaction.

“I accept your apology, Third Elder,” Mo Changyou stated calmly, his eyes catching the murderous glint in the Third Elder’s eyes and a trace of amusement playing across his lips.

In that moment, many elders couldn’t help but think to themselves, “Mo Changyou still has the audacity to provoke him. His fate seems sealed.”
