Fantasy: The Great Emperor Comes Back

Chapter 9

C9 – Mo Yangning Was on the Sixth Level

In his past life, Mo Changyou might not have extensively studied Divine Patterns, but as a Monarch, his mastery was beyond Grade Nine. Imprinting Divine Patterns required an immense amount of Spirit Energy and mental focus, so the Divine Patterns Mo Changyou could currently wield were merely ordinary Grade Two.

Mo Changyou conjured a subtle Divine Pattern. A sequence of golden runes materialized before him. He then activated the Divine Inscription Formation of the gravity field, and in a flash, the entire fifth level lit up. A colossal Divine Inscription Formation ascended. Mo Yunyun and Mo Yangning turned to Mo Changyou with looks of confusion.

“You aim to shatter the Gravity Field of the Azure Dragon Pagoda? You’re in over your head,” Mo Yangning scoffed.

The Gravity Field of the Azure Dragon Pagoda was deemed unbreakable. Grade Four Divine Rune Masters had once come to Black Rock City to attempt its unraveling, only to meet with failure.

Mo Yunyun glanced at Mo Changyou and shook her head, her eyes brimming with disappointment. “Looking for a shortcut?” she thought, seeing Mo Changyou as nothing more than a schemer and a wastrel.

Mo Yangning had a point. Shattering the entire Gravity Field was out of the question. But what if Mo Changyou only disrupted the Gravity Field beneath his feet?

A slight smile graced Mo Changyou’s lips. With golden Divine Patterns swirling into formation at his feet, the oppressive gravity that weighed like a mountain vanished in an instant.

As the Gravity Field faded away, Mo Changyou strode forward, confronting an Energy Condensation Level 4 Puppet with his Dragon Tiger Fist. Bolstered by the Battle Symbol Spell, the might of his fist rivaled that of a Sovereign Stage technique. The massive puppet quivered upon impact and was promptly hurled against the wall.

“This Energy Condensation Level 4 puppet is incredibly strong. It’s even made my fist ache,” Mo Changyou mused aloud.

A hundred thousand years ago, during the Emperors’ Era, the second realm wasn’t nearly as formidable as it is today. If Mo Yangning overheard Mo Changyou’s musings, he’d likely be infuriated to the point of spitting blood. The Level 4 puppet and the Gravity Field were enough to cause even the Energy Condensation Level 5 Mo Yangning considerable distress.

Mo Changyou effortlessly overcame the puppets at Energy Condensation Level 4, surpassing Mo Yangning in the process.

“Isn’t he just at Energy Condensation Level 2? How did he get here?” Mo Yangning pondered to himself.

He sensed something had changed in Mo Changyou.

Before, he had sent Mo Ao to lure Mo Changyou to the back mountain, hoping the Qian family would take care of him. Not only did Mo Changyou survive, but he also dared to take on the challenge of the Azure Dragon Pagoda.

Beneath the oppressive force of the Gravity Field, Mo Yangning watched Mo Changyou with growing frustration.

“I’m not able to reach the sixth floor. What makes you think you qualify?”

Mo Yangning’s face twisted into a snarl as he watched Mo Changyou and launched a punch. Flames erupted fiercely in that instant!

“You are not someone I can be surpassed by!” Mo Yangning unleashed his fiery punch, sending a massive hand of flames towards Mo Changyou’s back.

The formidable power of Energy Condensation Level 5 was fully displayed.

Nobody would have expected Mo Yangning, a figure of Energy Condensation Level 5 stature, to ambush Mo Changyou, who was at Level 2, at that moment.

In an instant, Mo Changyou spun around and countered with a powerful punch.

A golden dragon phantom coiled around Mo Changyou’s right arm, surging forward as they collided. The overwhelming force of Energy Condensation Level 5 sent Mo Changyou flying back, slamming into the Azure Dragon Pagoda’s wall, his arm throbbing with pain.

Mo Changyou himself hadn’t anticipated Mo Yangning’s sneak attack.

“You’re aiming for the sixth floor? Even though I have no idea how you defeated those Level 4 Puppets, you’ll just have to stand aside and watch until I’ve gone through,” Mo Yangning said with a chilling sneer before stepping forward.

At Energy Condensation Level 2, Mo Changyou was not in a position to surpass him.

Mo Yunyun glanced back at him. She knew that initiating a confrontation within the pagoda was against the rules, yet in her eyes, Mo Changyou wasn’t worth intervening for. She made her way toward the entrance to the sixth floor.

Unnoticed by all, Mo Changyou’s blood-red eyes snapped open.

At this moment, outside, the sixth level’s red star burst into light!

“The sixth level has been illuminated!”

The disciples outside were thrilled. It had been nearly two decades since anyone had managed to light up the sixth level. They watched the Azure Dragon Pagoda with fervor.

An old ancestor had once proclaimed that those who could reach the sixth level were deemed worthy of becoming Inscription Experts. Clearly, the individual who had ascended to the sixth level had proven their worth!

The Tower Guardian Elder gazed toward the sixth level, smiling and nodding in approval. His joy was unmistakable.

“Could it be Mo Yunyun or Mo Yangning?” he wondered aloud.

Even more astonishing was that, in the following moment, one of the two red dots on the fifth level suddenly went out. This meant that now, only two people remained within the entire Azure Dragon Pagoda.

“It’s definitely Mo Yunyun and Mo Yangning. The one on the fifth level is making their way to the sixth. They’re just one step away!” exclaimed a disciple.

“Someone fetch the Third Elder quickly. I have a feeling Young Master Beiming is about to ascend to the sixth level,” another disciple called out. Mo Yangning was the Third Elder’s own son. The observing elder silently agreed, nodding to himself.
