Chapter 237: Just Because You’re Broke Doesn’t Mean I Am Too
"W-What did you s-s-say sir? Did I hear correctly? You want to purchase a diamond-tier membership?"
"Yes please, a diamond-tier membership."
Hearing Shye's confirmation sounded like heavenly tunes to the cashier's ears, leaving her dumbstruck for a few moments.
Throughout their seven years working as cashiers at Constantine Consumables, the two of them had never had the fortune of encountering a customer interested in purchasing a diamond-tier membership.
The highest-tier membership for which they were able to earn a commission was platinum-tier, an occurrence that took place several years ago when they were stationed at a different branch.
They sure as hell lived comfortably that entire year.
Since then, they could count themselves fortunate if they came across a customer interested in purchasing a gold-tier membership.
As for Shye, he was unaware that this diamond-tier membership purchase inadvertently assisted an average-ranking manager to rapidly ascend the ranks, earning a promotion to a branch with a higher status than Balkrow's.
All he cared about was to give the three bastards beside him the trouble and humiliation they were asking for.
The bastards think that he, who just won eighty times his initial bet of 12,000 silver coins would be poor?
Laughable!
"O-Of course, sir! Let me quickly calculate the total price," the cashier handling his transaction eagerly responded, her heart racing with anticipation as she envisioned the comfortable life awaiting her in the days ahead.
Naturally, the cashier who was processing the trio's transactions was in the same state of elation, causing her to make a few small mistakes while computing the total price of the trio's purchases, making the transaction take longer than usual.
She was also entitled to half the commission after all so she could hardly focus on the trio's mediocre transaction, bringing further anger and humiliation upon the hearts of the three troublemakers.

"BULLSHIT!! You?! Purchase a diamond-tier membership!? Who do you think you're kidding? Quit pretending to be someone you're not!" the trio's leader—owner of the gold-tier membership card—raged.
He would never believe that someone who appeared so young, perhaps only two years into their career at most, could possess the means to purchase a diamond-tier membership, especially when he, an adventurer of eight years, couldn't afford it himself.
"After eight years as an adventurer, I still couldn't afford a diamond membership. And now you're claiming that you, a mere kid, could? Utterly delusional!" the man added.
However, Shye simply laughed at him, making sure that his laugh was extra condescending as he waited for the cashier to finish computing the total price of his purchases, including the membership fees.
With his teeth gnashed in utter fury, the man desired to speak once more.
However, the cashier had already completed her computations, accidentally blurting out the total price in a loud voice due to her excitement.
"Sir, the total price would be 230,000 silver coins!" exclaimed the cashier unintentionally, causing the onlookers to gasp and the trio beside him to laugh in glee.
230,000 silver coins was an astronomical amount and he doubted that the young inexperienced adventurer from Raven's Blade could afford it.
Anticipating a spectacle, the trio assumed relaxed postures, crossing their arms over their chests while wearing mocking smiles as they observed Shye.
They believed that the young inexperienced bastard overestimated his wallet and underestimated the prices.
Shye's appearance of being "stunned," while he was actually just withdrawing money from the system, boosted the trio's confidence, leading them to mock him once again.
"Hahahahaha! What's wrong?! Did an additional zero catch you off guard?! Come, show us how you pay 230,000 silver coins!"
As a response, Shye merely smirked at them.
He knew that he would probably be targeted as a fat sheep after this, however, he stopped caring ever since a few minutes ago upon deeper comprehension of old man Sanada's request.
That's right…he must be flashy…highkey…
Even if it meant that he would be in danger more frequently than the average Joe, so be it.
It was a price he had to pay for the benefits he obtained from the flashy adventurer system.
Heck, the system even had "flashy" in its name so what took him so long to realize how he was expected to act by the old man?
His current easily agitated emotions probably came with the system upgrade as he couldn't think of any other reason than that.
'I guess I have to meet the old man once more to ask him a few questions…' he thought, decisively pulling out small sacks of silver coins one after the other with an annoying smirk on his face.
Every sack he took out prompted the mouths of the onlookers, including the dastardly trio, to open a bit wider.
After taking out 24 sacks, Shye stopped, looking at the cashier with a smile.
"Here, 240,000 silver coins, the extra ten thousand silver coins are for you and your friend." Shye said, "Please do count them."
"R-Right away sir!" the cashier, feeling both nervous and excited, replied.
At this point, the three idiots were utterly stupefied for the entire duration of the cashier counting the money.
"T-This is indeed 240,000 silver coins…Thank you so much for the tip, young sir." the cashier said, both of them deeply bowing towards Shye in gratefulness.
"No worries," Shye replied, a kind smile plastered on his face.
"Sir, please follow me inside, it is customary for our corporation's managers to meet diamond members." the cashier said, motioning for Shye to follow her through a door after processing Shye's payment.
His diamond membership card would likely be given to him by the manager himself.
Storing his purchases inside the system's inventory, Shye looked at the three troublemakers with a mocking smile.
"Heh, just because you can't afford it doesn't mean that others are as poor as you" Shye insulted, proceeding to ignore the three idiots who couldn't say anything but "YOU!!" as he followed the other cashier through a door to meet the Balkrow Branch manager of Constantine Consumables.
