Chapter 19: Florida Man, Self-Identified as Wizard, Pulls Out Firearms When Requested to Demonstrate His Sorcery
After Felix returned, the trip resumed. Since Jane was still under the weather, Adam took charge as the coachman and sat next to Felix. Masterfully, he controlled the reins and directed the horses along the narrow dirt road.
Mentally exhausted from the fight, Felix took a break. He opened his system windows in secret to complete the daily quests, killing time as they traveled.

Two of the four quests were already completed. Not wanting to waste his daily energy creating useless guns, Felix created an M1903 Springfield, spending 100 energy points. To complete the third quest, he made 50 rounds for the WWI rifle and 500 rounds for 9mm handguns. Although he still had 100 more energy points, Felix decided to save them for emergencies in case he needed an extra rifle.

Checking his rewards, Felix saw that the potions and new crates were already in his inventory. He ignored the supply crate and the potions, focusing on inspecting the ammunition crate first. He now had two crates: the first appeared after Felix purchased a clothing supply crate from the store, and the second was today's quest reward.
The inventory menu displayed the two items in separate slots due to the different ammunition types.

The number of rounds made Felix inwardly drool. He wished he could return to a shooting range or his backyard to play with this free ammunition. Looking at the sheer number of cartridges, Felix wondered if he could sell them to the army or local shops for some quick cash.
Recalling that he had already transmigrated to a fantasy medieval world, Felix felt crestfallen. He glanced at Adam, contemplating if he should sell his guns to the Lundop House.
"Is there something on your mind, sir?" Adam asked.
Felix snickered. "Nah, I just feel bad for your daughter."
"Oh? Do you fancy her?" Adam widened his eyes.
"Not really, but I like her hardworking attitude."
Adam faintly smiled. Since Jane never had an opportunity to find a suitor, she got stuck in the mansion doing dirty work. As a father, Adam wished his adopted daughter could find happiness or quit working as a counter-assassin.
"Are you serving any lord, sir?" Adam asked.
"No. I'm homeless."
"…Homeless?" Adam was slightly taken aback. Still, he got to the point. "How about you join the Lundop House as a guard? The lord can provide you with shelter and free meals in exchange for your services."
Felix lightly sighed and declined the offer. "I'd rather find a place to settle down and open a store. I don't like being an employee and selling my time for a fixed salary."
Adam found Felix's life philosophy interesting, as his mindset resembled that of top entrepreneurs in the empire. He wondered if Felix would walk the path of a merchant as well.
"What kind of shop are you planning to open, sir?" Adam probed for information, testing if he should entrust his daughter's future to this man.
Felix leaned back and looked at the sky, speaking his mind, "A weapon store."
"…A weapon store?" Adam was surprised. "What kind of weapon store, sir? A blacksmith? An armory?"
"Neither. Just a… gun store."
"Gun… store?" Adam was puzzled but interested. "What is a gun?"
Felix realized he had blurted out something he shouldn't have. He changed his vocabulary. "More like an artifact store. I'm planning to sell expensive artifacts."
Adam's eyes gleamed. However, when he recalled the financial trouble of Terra City and the Lundop House, he stopped fantasizing about acquiring luxurious artifacts for Roland. Still, it didn't hurt to ask.
"Can I see the artifacts that you're planning to sell?" Adam requested.
"Sure."
Felix ejected a WWI bolt rifle from his inventory for Adam to see. A brand new brown rifle materialized and landed in Felix's hands. Demonstrating the effectiveness of the gun, Felix loaded five rounds from a stripper clip into the chamber and fired at a nearby tree while they were riding in the carriage.
*BANG*
The thunderous sound spooked Adam and everyone in the carriage. The four horses neighed and panicked, startled by the loud noise.
As for Felix, his shoulder felt the force behind the rifle, causing him to flinch. He was also surprised by how loud this rifle was since he had never used it before. Still maintaining a poker face, Felix pulled the bolt, ejecting the used shell.
There were still four more rounds in the chamber. For safety, Felix stored it back in his inventory before Adam could ask to try it.
"Yeah, that was the artifact." Felix shrugged, pretending nothing had happened.
Adam gazed at Felix in astonishment. He glanced at the small tree Felix had shot earlier. It was a young golden chain tree, blooming with yellow flowers, yet it was broken in half!
Seeing its destructive power, Adam wondered if it could be used against mages. He asked Felix, "Can it kill mages?"
Felix pursed his lips and imagined scenarios. Using fantasy stories as references, he slightly shook his head.
"If they can use barriers or physical enhancement spells, I can't say. I haven't tried it yet."
"…I see."
Coincidentally, mages in this world could also deploy elemental barriers or cast physical enhancement spells. Adam was also aware of this. Thus, he nodded in agreement and commented.
"Those specialized mages are indeed durable. Even aura knights find it troublesome to deal with them. Say, have you ever fought aura knights or mages before?"
Felix thought of his first transmigration when he was summoned to a throne room and met the king. He remembered that he killed several knights with his modern handgun, and they weren't that strong.
"I don't know if they were proper knights, but they went down easily. Maybe they didn't expect it."
Surprised by Felix's testimony, Adam had an inspiration. He asked Felix to confirm if his theory would work. "So, you are planning to open a shop, right? Hypothetically, if you manage to find a house or a place to live, will you remain there permanently and open your store?"
Felix didn't care which city or affiliation he would be with. He just needed a place to call home and live quietly. "Maybe."
Adam grinned widely. He secretly thought of a way to convince his lord to allocate a residence in their city for Felix, hoping to acquire his assistance.
Meanwhile, Felix was tired of the random conversation as he was mentally exhausted. As he was about to shut his eyes for an afternoon nap, a loud beeping sound echoed in his mind. Felix snapped open his eyes and looked at the system window. Jessica also notified him.
