Chapter 365 - 365 Swap (2)
365 Swap (2)
“I’m not sure… The embassy’s security is too tight. The Shadow Servants we summoned can’t even approach it. However, according to the magister who followed us, he sensed traces of a large-scale Teleportation spell being activated.”
The embassy was an important tool used by the empire to keep various places under their control. There were usually large-scale teleportation nexuses inside, and they could easily send a reduced number of powerful anti-insurgency disciplinary troops to the hinterland of the major cities.
“Get your people to continue guarding that place… Other than that?” Remides continued asking.
“About ten minutes ago, two ambassadors left the embassy and went in the direction of White Bone Castle. However, there are too many people outside White Bone Castle now. The Shadow Servants sent to follow them disappeared not long after. I’m not sure…”
Before he could finish speaking, an electric light flashed beside him, and a High Elf with a silver moon pattern woven from silver threads on his robe teleported over.
“Governor, the results of the investigation on the matter you commissioned are out… It was traced to the location where the Karma arrow last appeared—White Bone Castle.”
According to Elise, the series of events in the underground root system of the World Tree and the sudden echo of the speech were all storms caused by the brief intersection of two timelines.
The eye of the erupting storm was inside White Bone Castle.
In that case, they had to make a trip to White Bone Castle no matter what…
“But, Governor…” After hearing Remides’s request, the High Elf mage said with a troubled expression, “Although it won’t be a problem for you to break through White Bone Castle’s barrier without Floral around, it will cause too much commotion. The mob stirred up by the Oak Council outside will also surge in.”
With that said, he paused. “Moreover, the guards guarding the Canopy Temple can’t hold on much longer. When the time comes, we might need you to return.”
“It’s fine. I left Teleportation coordinates inside.”

At this moment, a slightly hoarse voice echoed behind Remides. She turned around in disbelief.
“Presiding Judge?” Remides said in surprise, forgetting that she had left the Doomsday Watchers. “Why are you…”
William waved his hand and said, “There’s no time to explain so much now. Briefly explain what happened after I left.”
…
After hearing Remides and Elise’s concise explanation, William pondered for a moment and said, “Although many details aren’t clear, I roughly understand the situation. Remides, can I trouble you to bring your troops back to the Canopy Temple? Floral’s soul is theoretically still buried in that tree. Just to be safe, I need your help to guard that place.”
As he spoke, he took out a few azure gems and used them as a medium to open a portal to the Dawn Fortress’s public teleportation nexus.
“Nizemar, go back and inform Blake and Cass immediately that the special operation on the Lake of Entropy is to be carried out as soon as possible. Also, remember to tell them…” William hesitated. “That they have to come back alive.”
Nizemar nodded vigorously before stepping through the portal and disappearing.
After Nizemar left, William retracted the gem mediums and planned on casting another spell to open the teleportation beacon that led to White Bone Castle.
Remides stopped William. “Mr. Kane, may I ask if the Lady of Starvation plans on descending through the rebirth ritual?”
William looked at her in surprise and wondered how she knew this.
Remides probably shouldn’t have known that the Void Sovereign could descend through a rebirth ritual.
However, he still nodded.
Upon seeing this, Remides said, “Then, I have something to tell you…”
…
A strange voice echoed in the hall. “So Sigmond came under the Church’s special mission… If I had believed you from the beginning, I would have been used as cannon fodder by you and died a miserable death.”
“But our goals are the same. We both want to kill Remides. It’s enough as long as we clarify this,” another cold and inorganic voice replied. Then, the person continued, “But I didn’t expect you to override Floral and obtain the authority of White Bone Castle’s Mage King Kingdom’s spell nexus. It looks like the Astral Council invested a lot in the early stages just to kill Ava State’s Shadow Queen.”
Other than the bishop of the Second Order, the other two empire envoys—who had come to persuade Floral to join them in the siege of Remides—were in White Bone Castle’s conference hall.
The Astral Council member sat on the Withering Throne with all kinds of runes floating around him.
The person who replied was wrapped in a robe and stood under the throne.
“What are you talking about? It’s just the textbooks Floral used for studying magic. She must have left some back doors in the Astral Council and used some small tricks to barely accomplish it. Unlike your Obliteration Tower, which directly sent out a next-generation construct like you. Speaking of which, I’m very curious. Do things like you that are completely made of bronze need to eat?”the person from the Astral Council asked.
The other party shook his head and continued asking, “Alright, this is indeed a meaningless topic. Then, let me change the question. Is it absolutely necessary to get rid of that High Elf ruler?”
“It’s necessary… It’s not about her status as Ava State’s governor, but all the Judges have to be eliminated,” the person wrapped in the robe said.
The Astral Council member was about to say something when his gaze suddenly turned to a corner of the hall.
A few azure gems circled there. With a burst of lightning, a portal quickly opened.
“She’s here. From the looks of it, Sigmond failed to kill her,” the robed person whispered.
“Isn’t that good? We’re better at this than him,” the Astral Council member said. Then, he shouted at the shadowy floating humanoid in the portal,
“Madam Remides, welcome to your land of death. We are honored to…”
However, before he could finish speaking, the other party passed through the portal and walked into the hall, stumping the latter half of his sentence.
It wasn’t Remides, but a male Stormer.
“Sorry, there’s been a swap,” the person said after looking around. “Moreover, I’m in a hurry, so I won’t hold back.”
