Hang-up One Second to Achieve Lv.999

Chapter 14

C14 – Read a Whole Book

Qi Ning looked at Ye Lin with a self-assured smile and said, “Of course I can’t just do that. If I did, you fools still wouldn’t believe me.”

His words sent a wave of shock through the classroom.

“You dare to call us fools?”

“I suggest you tone down the arrogance!”

Voices of protest and anger echoed throughout the room.

Yet, Qi Ning remained serenely composed.

“Do you want to join me in another class?” he whispered to Pang Yuejuan.

Pang Yuejuan glanced timidly at her classmates and shook her head, clearly overwhelmed.

“What are you getting at?” Ye Lin’s heart fluttered with unease as she observed Qi Ning’s confident demeanor.

Qi Ning just smiled.

He explained, “I have no ulterior motive. Since you all consider yourselves geniuses and accuse me of holding you back, let’s find out today who is really slowing us down.”

With that, he strode confidently to the front of the room.

Wen Shangwei watched Qi Ning’s assured stance and felt it was almost surreal.

“What exactly are you planning to do?” Wen Shangwei asked in a hushed tone.

Qi Ning responded with a simple, knowing smile.

“If you’re so sure you’re the best in our class at politics, then let’s play a game,” he proposed.

The classroom buzzed with renewed commotion at his suggestion.

“A game? We’re supposed to be having a lesson,” Ye Lin said, her anxiety growing because she had no clue what Qi Ning was up to.

Wen Shangwei watched Qi Ning with a mix of curiosity and amusement.

“The game is quite straightforward,” Qi Ning continued, gesturing to the political science textbook. “Pick any line from any page, and I’ll recite the entire content. Are you in?”

He then turned his gaze to Ye Lin, who was rendered speechless.

Not only was Ye Lin speechless, but Wen Shangwei and the rest of the students were equally astounded.

They couldn’t believe Qi Ning had made such a bold challenge.

“Are you serious about this?” Wen Shangwei asked, his eyes wide with disbelief.

Wen Shangwei’s concern wasn’t about Qi Ning’s ability to recite the text. He was more worried that Qi Ning’s actions might turn the entire class against him.

Qi Ning spoke with a cool composure, “They’ve never seen me as a person. To them, I’m just garbage. So why should I bother preserving their dignity?”

His resolve was palpable as he spoke.

Wen Shangwei put himself in Qi Ning’s shoes and concluded that at Qi Ning’s age, he certainly would have acted similarly.

But one major question lingered.

Had Qi Ning truly memorized the entire book?

The skepticism was evident on Wen Shangwei’s face, prompting Qi Ning to chuckle.

Having taught senior politics for years, he couldn’t assure anyone he remembered every detail from the textbooks. Yet, Qi Ning’s confident smile suggested he might have indeed committed it all to memory.

“It’s incredibly hard to believe,” Wen Shangwei thought to himself.

Meanwhile, Ye Lin was beginning to waver.

Her greatest concern was not whether Qi Ning could recite the material, but whether she could.

As someone who took great pride in her reputation, the thought of being embarrassed here today made her dread the repercussions that would surely follow.
