Chapter 463 - 463. Supreme Mugwump
Chapter 463 – 463. Supreme Mugwump
Hogwarts,
Dumbledore was the chairman of the managing committee of Hogwarts schools, while Magnus was the overall boss of the Board of Governors who managed the funds.
Dumbledore started the meeting and got to the point, "Everyone, it's delightful to have you all here. This meeting is of utmost importance for us as a new Hogwarts is about to open in Falkland islands. It shall cater to students from South America. But, since our experienced teachers are already busy, Professor Flitwick acting as the Headmaster in Africa's Hogwarts, we have a place empty for the Headmaster of South America one.
"We have Professor Slughorn but he wishes not to leave, so my hands are tied. The Board of Governors and I have come to the conclusion that promotion is due. Professor McGonagall, we need your management expertise in setting up the new Hogwarts. Professor Severus Prince, you are promoted to the office of Headmaster of Brunei Hogwarts, I wish you good fortune in running and bringing the name of Hogwarts to new heights."
Severus, however, felt that this was Magnus' work behind the scenes, "Professor, won't the wizarding world talk? I am just 22 years old this year,"
At this, Slughorn chortled, "Severus, you were one of my most treasured and talented Potions students. His Majesty Pendragon defeated a thousand beasts at the age of 13, ascended the throne at the age of 19, defeated the Dark Lord at 21 and became the strongest wizard in the world. Your best friend is the greatest example of age being just a number."
Dumbledore very much agreed with him, "Professor Slughorn, Flitwick and I believe in you, that is why you are getting this heavy responsibility. We know you can do it, you have the talent and discipline to do it. And you understand His Majesty's ideology and dreams of the ideal world the best among us, if anyone, it should be you who leads the next generation of students to that ideal world."
Severus, who had taken the job of teaching just as a means of finding a reason to do something, for the first time, felt he was right. Teaching was the right call. He was meant to do this, what Dumbledor said was right, he was a member of the Round Table, he has a responsibility to further Magnus' ideology.
He nodded respectfully, "Then I accept this appointment,"

Slughorn picked up his glass of wine, "Let's cheers to that."
The next agenda was to find a suitable person for the Deputy Headmaster position, "Any suggestions, professor Severus? I now allow the Headmasters to choose their second in command as it's important to form a synergy."
Severus thought about it for a while. Emma came to his mind but she was busy these days, there was also Narcissa but her image was at rock bottom, it didn't matter if she was innocent, her reputation was tarnished and it would take years to recover. Ragnar was a mad beast and should be kept away from schools. Magnus was the busiest.
"I… I think I have someone in mind. Regulus Black, he's smart and strong as a wizard. Him or Hagrid," Severus named.
Dumbledore quickly denied Hagrid, "No no, I am not letting Hagrid leave. He's far too important here. Regulus Black, it is then."
The discussion soon came to an end with the new appointments being made. Severus drove off his car to meet Regulus at 12 Grimmauld Place.
…
To say that the standard of living in the United Kingdom was high would be an understatement. Magnus's policies, timely investments and help from Saudi Arabia during the oil crisis allowed the nation to sustain high growth constantly.
Unemployment was at 0.6%, Homelessness was at 0% because of Ragnar's cheap plastic cement. Literacy was 100%. The number of kids pursuing a higher college degree was high, with that increased demand for more specialised jobs. Thankfully, there were enough in the market.
Silicon Valley Magnus constructed at Plymouth was a major hub for various tech companies, and every day a new company would register there. Not to mention, overall entrepreneurship was at an all-time high, people were interested in setting up new businesses.
Of course, not all of them succeed, but even if 100 out of 1000 registered each month do good, that's a lot of employment for a population of 75 million people.
Meanwhile, in the United States, the core problem for all social and economical inequalities turned out to be caused by politics. For years, only two parties ruled nations, now, no matter how much they try to show to the people that they were different, the truth was, they shared the same bed. It was like a Christmas present that the Americans got every four years but just in different packaging.
Hence, when a person like Harrison Ford took office, who was the most powerful American wizard and a centrist, things started to fall into place. Human greed was something that required checks and balances for it to not outgrow human morals. That's what he provided.
…
1982 went by in a breeze, everyone was busy. Be it Emma, Ragnar, Severus, Adam or Grace. They all had personal projects they wanted to complete. Even the three little gremlins were growing fine and taking their muggle studies seriously.
Magnus continued his world tour as he travelled the globe. He could randomly appear anywhere around the world and leave a mark. He'd create bridges, make tunnels, help in earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides or hurricanes, he was the embodiment of what wizards can accomplish for the betterment of the world if they wish to.
Then finally, in 1983, the ICW, International Confederation of Wizards invited Magnus officially to become the Supreme Mugwump, the leader of the ICW, which is like the United Nations but for wizarding governments.
Magnus accepted with open arms. Finishing his work in Mongolia, he flew all the way to Germany, where the confederation was to be held this year.
He arrived on the back of the giant great dragon. There was no public photo of Duck, hence there were only rumours around the world about Magnus' Dragon, but today, the strongest wizards from around the world saw it first hand. This dragon was indeed different, perhaps it was correct to say this was a true dragon, others were bastardised versions.
Magnus was wearing wizarding robes that grandma Martha made for him, they were reddish-black with golden linings and sewing. It was made of shiny silk and had fur around the collar. He also had his staff held firm in his right hand and the sword, Excalibur, rested on his back in the sheath.
As soon as he landed on the ground from Duck's back, wizards of all ages and social standing greeted him with much worship and respect. "We welcome you to the confederation, your majesty."
"We were waiting for your arrival with much excitement,"
"It's an honour to be in your presence, your majesty."
Such words echoed throughout the corridors of the building. Magnus smiled and gave a nod at all. This was the moment, the proof that he stood at the top, the de-facto leader of all wizardkind. It didn't need to be said, but the smart ones understood it.
At a ceremony, he was made the Supreme Mugwump and allowed to give his first address, "I am honoured today to be standing here. But to be completely honest, I am not so proud of what this organisation has achieved. Just like how useless the muggle's United Nations was before I fixed it, ICW also failed to do what its task was.
"The ICW did nothing and just sat and watched as the British Magical community was being destroyed and slowly being taken over by an evil wicked man. If I had not killed him, he would have succeeded. As wizards, we are in a constant struggle with ourselves, because the dark side may be strong, but the paths lead from the ashes of our society.
"A society we worked so hard to build, then is it not sensible to also protect it? Dark Wizards like Voldemort constantly push to create a mad world, we don't want that, and yet we don't fight. So today, I believe that we all should take a pledge to never look the other way when we see evil. Fight it or inform me, we must keep our world safe, for when the destruction occurs, it cares not if it's the blood of a muggle or a wizard spilling.
Remember, when Rome was burning, Nero was playing the lute. Now it's up to us if it's Nero who inspires us or Merlin."
His speech ended with a warning, a dire warning that made them look into their hearts.
