Her Power and Favor Span the World

Chapter 17: Prepare for Anger

Chapter 17

Yuwen Hao, the fourth son of Emperor Mingyuan, and his wife went in after that. The next ones to go in were Yuwen Hao and Yuan Qingling.

Yuan Qingling slowly took deep breaths, adjusted her emotions, and ignored all the discomfort in her body.

On such a matter of life and death, she could not afford to be reckless.

Chang Gonggong said, "King Chu, Queen Chu, please go in."

Yuan Qingling got up with Yuwen Hao. He walked ahead and lifted the curtain, entering the innermost area.

Yuwen Hao knelt by the bedside, and Yuan Qingling knelt behind him. She swiftly took out a medicine box, and after the box hit the floor, it grew bigger. Yuan Qingling had no time to wonder why the medicine box would do that. She quickly took out an anesthetic and filled a syringe with it.

Immersed in grief, Yuwen Hao did not notice her actions. He choked out, "Grandfather Emperor..."

Yuan Qingling grabbed his hand. He instinctively turned back, a look of disgust rising in his eyes. Yuan Qingling had already injected the anesthetic into the inside of his wrist.

He was shocked. Rage flared up in his eyes as he looked at Yuan Qingling. Yuan Qingling let go of him and said, "Grandfather Emperor, your granddaughter-in-law kowtows to you..."

She counted silently in her heart: one second, two seconds, three seconds...

Yuwen Hao's body went limp, but his eyes were still wide open.

Yuan Qingling was shocked. Keaine should have quickly put him under anesthesia, leaving him unconscious. But he was just paralyzed while struggling to remain conscious.

The Retired Emperor also noticed something was wrong. His gaze, which had been unfocused, slowly concentrated on Yuan Qingling.

Yuan Qingling continued speaking as if kowtowing. Then she took out a syringe she had made herself. She diluted dopamine with glucose and pushed up the Retired Emperor's sleeve to find a vein. She leaned in close to the Retired Emperor's ear and said, "Elder, don't be afraid. I'm here to save you."

Seeing Yuan Qingling inject the Retired Emperor, the little dog Fu Bao suddenly started barking. Yuan Qingling was afraid of alerting the people outside, so she quickly lowered her voice and said, "Help me. I'm saving your master. Go cause a distraction outside."

She could understand Fu Bao, but didn't know if Fu Bao could understand her.

Sure enough, Fu Bao dashed outside and started jumping around wildly, even jumping onto the table and knocking over stools. No one dared to restrain Fu Bao before the Retired Emperor had passed away, so they could only let it go crazy for a bit.

Yuwen Hao had not been fully anesthetized. He glared at Yuan Qingling, the flames of fury burning in his eyes as if he wanted to reduce her to ash.

Yuan Qingling didn't dare meet his gaze. Her heart was in her throat. She was almost certain that if anyone came in and saw this scene, she would be sentenced to death, and it might even implicate the original owner's clan.

One minute passed, then two, then three, then four. The syringe was nearly empty. Outside, footsteps quietly approached. In a panic, Yuan Qingling said, "Grandfather Emperor, don't worry. Your granddaughter-in-law will definitely bear the Prince two or three sons, definitely."

The injection was complete.

She quickly put away the syringe and picked up the medicine box. As it left the floor, it swiftly shrank down again. She hid it in her sleeve.

She whispered in the Retired Emperor's ear, "You will improve shortly. Please allow me to remain in the palace so I can continue the medication."

She didn't wait for a reaction. Lifting the curtain, she went out and cried, "The Prince is overcome with grief and cannot stand up."

Chang Gonggong hurried in and indeed saw Yuwen Hao half-kneeling, half-sitting on the ground, appearing to have collapsed from excessive sorrow.

The Emperor also saw this. He sighed softly, and his gaze toward Yuwen Hao became much gentler. He ordered people to go in and help Yuwen Hao to a side hall to rest.

As Yuwen Hao's queen, Yuan Qingling naturally had to follow and care for him.

She was prepared to face however he would rage at her when he woke up. The Retired Emperor still needed treatment, so she had to keep him quiet, no matter the method.

And she could not keep letting him beat her.
