Hikari: Rise Of The Weapons Master

Chapter 3 Hikari Online

"Why are you standing there and looking at me as though I am about to die? Come here big brother and let me punch some sense into you." Mia said with a grin while cracking her knuckles.

Zack quickly pulled himself together and gave his sister a small smile. He slowly walked towards her bed and stood at her side.

"You think your punch can do anything to me?" He asked with a small smile as Mia chuckled before she broke eye contact with her brother.

"Zack, don't try to save me. You can go ahead and live your own life. Go to a university, try finding love and live a good life. Mom and dad left us enough money for all that."

It had been two days after their parents had died and Zack had decided to play Hikari to save Mia. But now that he was in front of his sister, he knew that no matter what, he would save her.

And if he got extra money, that was a bonus.

"Sis, don't talk like you are about to die," He lightly hit his side on her head with the side of his right hand. "I will find a way to cure you."

"You do know that it takes 70 million for the treatment? Even if you sell our house and everything inside it, we will still not reach that amount," The black-haired girl shook her head. "It would be better to let me die here since I am not even related to you by blood."

"But you are related to me by our bond." He said with a smile and patted her head. Mia pouted at her brother but her heart was warm.

A few months after Zack had been born, his parents had decided to have another baby. But the baby had been born stillborn. Both of his parents had been in shock but they had slowly started recovering.

When he had been two years old, his parents had adopted a girl three months younger than him. The girl had been dropped at the door of an orphanage at a young age and his parents had thought that even if their child had died, they could take care of someone else's child.

And since the child had no name, they decided to name her Mia. That was the name they had thought for their baby if the baby had been a female.

"Fine, then do what you want. The doctor says that my condition is still controllable and I would be discharged in three days. But he also said that I should get treated within three months or things would start getting worse." Mia added as her brother nodded.

"I will gather enough money by then." The black-haired boy then turned around and started moving out of the room.

"Zack," But he stopped when he heard his sister calling him. "Just don't do anything illegal."

"Don't worry sis, I will never do anything like that." He replied without turning back and walked out of the room.

But after closing the door behind his back, Zack stood there for a few minutes. A few drops of tears trickled down his cheeks yet he didn't make a sound.

After all, they were tears of joy.

He could still do everything correctly.

After calling a cab, Zack went back to his house and went to the kitchen. He ate some food and entered his room. He had already locked the entire house and now closed the door of his room.

'The food pills would be released in two weeks time while the VR pods with nutrition providing system should be released in about two to three months.' His mind was already thinking about what was going to happen in the future.

He then sat down on the bed and looked at the VR glasses. The world had no idea what was going to happen in a few days.

Hikari was going to explode through the roof and all four companies founders were going to become rich enough to talk with the government about real-life currency exchange.

If Zack remembered correctly, this would happen in a month's time and those at the top of the rankings would get the prize money then.

But the game's popularity didn't fall after that event ended. It instead multiplied by three times. This was because the game developers from Japan introduced the system of arena and tournaments.

But that would happen a month later and Zack knew that there was no point in thinking about that right now. He then started scrolling through his phone watch.

Most of the articles were talking about Hikari and how the game was going to be released soon. He spent most of his time doing random things before the time finally arrived.

As soon as the clock went on 12, Zack went ahead and wore the VR glasses while he tied the smartwatch on his left hand. The watch monitored the body's condition and was linked to the VR glasses.

So if anything happened to the body, the watch would directly alert the person since it was connected to the glasses.

He then laid on the bed as the terms of condition, legal conditions, etc. started appearing. Zack scrolled through and accepted all of them before the real thing came.

"Link start." He muttered and closed his eyes as his brain was connected to the VR glasses.

"Lin Fan," Zack spoke.

He could see the system interface in front of him. Since he was directly inside the game, he looked exactly like he did in the real world.

But for now, the important thing was that he needed to create an appearance that no one could recognize in the outer world.

That was why he had paid an extra 300 dollars just to get the custom character creation card. When money was linked with real life, people will finally start understanding the importance of this card and there would be a shortage of custom character creation cards.

The players at higher levels had gotten many of these from completing quests and they would start selling them for high sums of money.

That was what Zack planned to do. As for why he chose his name to be Lin fan, it was because one of the developers had been a web novel nerd.

And Lin Fan was one of his favorite characters. And the first person to take this name would get a secret benefit.

This was revealed on the forums by the guy who had taken this name. Apparently, he had gotten a 50% exp boost because of this feature.

< Please choose your appearance: >

After some thinking, Zack decided to use the appearance of his previous avatar. White hair and purple eyes.

He had purple eyes in real life too. Before the war, rarely anyone in the world had purple eyes. But some kind of mutation happened during the world war three and currently, 2% of the world had purple eyes.

Hikari had a total of 25 beginning job classes that a player playing for the first time could choose from. The person however might get confused by the sheer number of job classes.

But since a person could choose a sub-job class, later on, people didn't care to choose carefully. But little did they know that some sub-job classes could be taken from their main job classes.

Zack had initially chosen the mage job class but after acquiring Gugnir, his main job class has been forcefully changed to self-healer, which was a unique job class only a few people could have.

But that was not all, his sub-job class feature has also been blocked and this prevented him from doing anything about it.

But this time he was not going to make that mistake now.

"Mage."

Zack could have chosen other job classes and could have been a jack of all trades but in Hikari, being a jack of trade was only fun in the beginning.

After reaching a certain level, you could do nothing about it. Being a mage had its benefits. If you were skilled enough, you could make your mage class become a battle mage and could use both physical combat and magic.

But after that came one of the most important choices in the game.

[ Please choose one of the sides in Hikari:

Light side

Dark side

Neutral side ]

This was the thing that decided one of the most major outcomes of the game. Each side had its own benefits but Zack knew what he had to do.

"Light side." He said with a sigh as his avatar was finally created. He was tempted to choose the neutral side like he had done earlier but people didn't trust those who were on the neutral side since they could be friends one minute and become enemies the next second.

Congratulations on being the 49th person to create an avatar in Hikari! As a special thank you gift, you will receive ten random loot boxes.

[ Thank you for playing the game.

Enjoy your playing time Lin Fan. ]
