Chapter 9: Goblin (2)
Chapter 9: Goblin (2)
After getting myself settled, I decided to search the forest after the last portion of the wolf was eaten. I spent four days of eating it. Considering my appetite, it was really big. The next morning after that, I was ready for my adventure.
The only question is, where do I go? To the south where the lake extends? To the west where the mountains are high? To the north that's full of trees? Or to the east where the end knows no bounds?
---If there is a place beyond the forest, I want to see that.
The forest is huge that even if I climb a tree, I can't see the end! All that I can see is trees, mountains and land! If there is a place or even an end to the forest, I would definitely want to see that!
"One day, I will find out about this world."
Ops, my thoughts moved away from the topic. I can't really decide because if monsters that are far stronger than me right now appear in those regions, I'll die no matter how high my regenerative properties are. I also couldn't evolve last time I beat the wolf so I still don't have the strength to overpower stronger monsters. If I meet another of that kind of wolf again, I'll have to fight with my life on the line.
Sitting in the cave with my arms crossed, I started to think about the path and my destination. Come to think of it, despite being a newborn, I was pretty knowledgeable on things. It's like things answered themselves on their own if a question pops on my head and I knew what to do if something happens. It feels natural so I didn't question it but... Why was that?
I can't think of an answer except for the instincts of a goblin. There's no one or nothing that can answer me right now so I'll leave the speculation at that. This leaves an itch that I cannot scratch though. I hope I find the answer soon.
The answer to my other question is that I should go south. For the reason, I need water. I can just follow the lake and if I encounter a strong monster while moving, I can just avoid it while looking for a place that suits my tastes. I also need the area to have some strong monsters so I can properly evolve this time.
"With that, I'll go to the south."
I picked up the horn of the wolf and stood up. I looked at my other weapon, the horn of the reindeer. It was in a bad shape, its sharpness' missing. It was dulled after the fight with the wolf. I probably can't use it anymore.
"Wanwan, you stay here."

Wanwan gives no verbal answer but wags his tail. He doesn't stop eating the delicious meat of the rabbit that I hunted this morning. I walked to the entrance and got out of the cave.
The sunlight hits my skin, the warm wind passing through the leaves. The smell of the plants hits my nose and the elegant dancing of the flowers and trees makes this land much more beautiful.
I walked to the forest and went to my usual hunting place. I can hunt about anything in here. They are weaker than me after all. My light green skin doesn't clearly show how strong I am! I can't help but be doubtful about my color.
I look at my skin just to feel pity for myself. Why did my color turn lighter? I sigh.
"Huuuu."
Anyways, I'm getting hungry. The food I've eaten this day is just the rabbit after all. Thinking about the various monsters and animals that I've eaten, saliva drops from my mouth.
---Hmmm, what should I eat? I guess I'll go to the trees of the monkeys and have them as my food.
I made up my mind for today's lunch and quicken my pace. I have to make preparations first before going to a place that I don't know. Food, water and the path that I will take, these are the essentials for my trip. I have to be careful. I don't want to lose my hard earned life now.
---I also want to meet some goblins on my way there. I hope I do meet some. Maybe they can help me with my questions.
I think that I'll be able to meet goblins in the south. I was close to the south when I first came to, the place where I met the wolf and the jaguar. Considering that, I'm probably from that region.
---Ah! Maybe the goblins from my tribe are light skinned? If so, that'll answer my skin being light green!
Realizing that an answer to my question and to my origin at that is connected to that place, I couldn't contain my excitement. My heart beats faster and a smile naturally forms on my face.
Having decided on my first step, I walked to my destination.
****
"Chief! Chief!"
A goblin that is bigger than the others came running to a settlement of crude houses. House they may be called but it is just trees packed together to form private lodgings.
"Huh? Kik"
The one called chief eyed the running goblin with a scornful look. He is darker and bigger than the others. His physique contains muscles trained to the extreme and hair is also growing on his head. Clearly, he is an evolved Goblin, a Goblin Baronet.
"What is it? Kik! Kik!"
The goblin came to a stop in front of this Goblin. His look was that of one full of happiness. He then exclaimed.
"The wolf from the front is gone! Many of our men have not seen the wolf recently so I checked but the wolf is not there!"
The chief opened his eyes wide. He couldn't keep his shock and excitement at the thought of his hated foe disappearing.
"Is it dead?! Is it?!"
"Don't know. It's just these days, no signs or tracks of the wolf have been seen. Maybe he moved his home?"
"Kik! Kik! Kik! Finally! You, go to the other goblin villages and tell them that I the great Raen, from the Black Race, have come to rule over them!"
He pointed to the other goblins stationed to his side with a grin. He was so happy right now that he could forgive his useless subordinates that failed to bring the wolf's head.
'If he moved somewhere else, I can finally rule! I will get my revenge from that impudent Vorg! Who does he think he is to exile me! Kik! Kik!'
His smile grew deeper, his ambitions showing on his face. His canine fangs exposed.
"I will be the King!"
And so, his hatred for Vorg, the clan leader of the Black Race burned fiercer than ever. His revenge however will not come to pass.
