Chapter 13: The meeting dances, but it doesn't go anywhere.

Hmm, Im looking forward to the cultural festival!

Shijoin-san said with a sense of excitement during a break in the after-school study session, which has already become a routine

Its that time of the year again.

It sounds very nostalgic when I say it, but to be honest, I cant say I have very good memories of the culture festival.

In my previous life, I only remember watching enviously as Ginji and I went around the school every year as a couple, munching on snacks from the food and drink stands.

So Shijoin-san likes cultural festivals.

Yes! I love all kinds of festivals!

Shijoin-san, who responded with a cheerful smile, seemed to be floating like a child, how cute!

This kind of pure and innocent expression suits her very well.

I I couldnt go to fairs or anything similar to  that when I was a kid

I see

Her parents seemed to be generous, not constraining their daughter as one would expect from a prominent family, but I guess they had a lot going on at home and her parents were unable to take her anywhere.

Its not just like festivals, I also really like the lively atmosphere of them. Moreover, during the cultural festival, the school becomes a festive place, and the classes come together to create their own fun! I think thats very exciting!

.

As I watched Shijoin-san talking happily, I felt somewhat refreshed.

For me, school events were always a painful experience.

The athletic meets were the worst, and I also attended the Rinkan Gakkou and choir competitions with a bitter expression. The school festival was better than that, but still not very exciting.

[TN: in English It translates to Camp schoolbut thats not exactly what it is.

is pronounced Rinkan-gakkou and is a three-day trip to the countryside by kids who live in the city, to let them experience country living. Japanese country living, of course.]

(Enjoying school events ? Thats right. Thats exactly what I didnt get to do last time, enjoy my youth.)

Yeah, Im starting to look forward to the festival too. For some reason, Im getting a little excited.

Thats good to hear! I dont know what kind of festival it will turn out to be, but lets do our best together!

Then, the indifferent me was now in full cultural festival mode, and I was ready to enjoy myself this time.

or at least, thats what I used to believe.

So lets make it more flashy! Thats not interesting enough!

Oh, come on! Thats why I told you to stop being so selfish!

You cant just force one persons opinion! Talk it over with everyone!

Numerous voices echoed through the classroom.

Right now, our class is having a meeting to decide what to present.

At first glance, it seemed like a very lively discussion but in reality, it was a disaster.

(How long are we going to argue about this, ? Its been almost a week!)

Yes, at first both I and the rest of the class had looked at this situation optimistically .

At the most, I thought they would pick up possible candidates for the event and decide on the content I never imagined that it would turn out to be a long, drawn-out meeting.

The reason for this is because of these guys who are shouting now.

I dont care which one you choose, but a plain one wont be interesting! Just make it something with a bang!

Akasaki is an idiot who likes to be flashy but is always trying to stir things up without saying anything specific.

Hes making a lot of noise from his seat.

Im too lazy for food stalls and haunted houses! Lets just have a random exhibit! I dont want to deal with all the preparation!

Noroda, who has a habit of insisting on making things easy and hassle-free, was leaning back in his chair, looking lazy.

Calm down, everyone! Please listen to other peoples opinions and think carefully!

Kazamihara, a member of the executive committee who is acting as a moderator, is standing on the podium and is so focused on cooperation that she cant make any decisions.

I had some ideas of what I wanted to present, but these guys were making so much ruckus that I couldnt go any further.

( This is totally The meeting dances, but it doesnt go anywhere. )

There are times when both sides have different opinions but when it becomes so prolonged, it turns into a state of in-fighting.

This was a common problem in company meetings in my previous life, especially when other peoples opinions become more of an afterthought and the person becomes obsessed with making his or her argument.

(Because you start to think that pulling back and accepting the other persons opinion would be considered a defeat. )

Normally, the moderator would be in charge of coordinating opinions to prevent this from happening, but unfortunately, Kazamihara, a member of the executive committee, only said, Discuss it properly! She had no actual coordination skills.

Damn, , Im sick of this shit. Just decide whatever it is and get it done.

Ginji, who is sitting next to me, mutters tiredly.

My other classmates are also fed up with the prolonged meetings, and everyone is now just looking at the situation languidly.

Still, hey, Ginji, , is there anyone else who can speak up besides the people who are only expressing their opinions now?  At this rate, we wont have enough time for the actual preparation

Anyone? No, there are a few guys, but in a situation like this, no one wants to mess with them anymore. If you interfere now, youll have to deal with those guys who are getting heated up. So I guess well just keep our mouths shut and let things happen.

Well, yeah.

(Im starting to remember gradually. Oh, by the way, at that time, things didnt come to an agreement in the end, and we ended up having a simple exhibition as Noroda insisted. )

Of course, there was no way that the quality of the exhibition that was decided in such a poor manner would be good, and our class ended up being deserted.

In my previous life, I only thought, Im glad it was easier.

Suddenly, I turned my gaze towards Shijoin-sans seat.

My favorite girl was clearly depressed by the exhaustive meeting, which was far from exciting.

She was saddened by the fact that the cultural festival she had been looking forward to was now under a gloomy cloud.

.

If things continue as they are, it will be a completely dull and lethargic event, a far cry from the exciting event that Shijoin-san had hoped for with the class.

Then how do you get it done?

(There is a way but )

It will take a little bit of preparation, but it is probably possible to get out of this situation.

But that requires me to be prepared to do the job.

I have to take actions that I never thought I would take in my previous life in high school.

(Its okay. I dont have a choice. If I dont do something, Shijoin-sans face will be stained with sadness. I dont want that.)

And so I made up my mind.

To do the exact opposite of what a gloomy guy would do, in a sense, and to make it work in the end.
