Chapter 224: Pure Bloodline
Chapter 224: Pure Bloodline
The bite almost connected, almost.
For a moment, when the Flying Meatpiles went in for a bite, I felt like I was a goner and my eyes instinctively closed. There were two Flying Meatpiles who went in for the kill, one of them aimed at my head while the other aimed at the Quetzalcoatl. Upon closer look, I could tell that they didn't have fangs, their mouth salivated like mad though.
Long story short, they didn't stand against the barrier I erected in a split second.
One may wonder why I was a bit frightened by the Flying Meatpiles a few moments ago but that was because I didn't have something to defend myself against them. But with the abundance of the virus inside the Quetzalcoatl's body, I could utilize my Virus Qi Core, absorb the virus, and create an impenetrable barrier that would never give out until the Quetzalcoatl is rid of the virus. It was an easy charge and output approach that I totally overlooked a few moments ago.
"How are you feeling?" I called out, striking up a conversation since I felt rather awkward with the Flying Meatpiles constantly biting and drooling over us. "Is your head clearing up a little bit? Or is it a bit hazy?"
"It's a bit ha how did you know that? Are you some sort of Mythical Beast doctor?" The Quetzalcoatl said in admiration.
"Not really, I just experienced being infected by the Virus, that's all. "In any case, I'm almost done. Can you fly as soon as you're healed?" I asked.
The Quetzalcoatl shook her head. "I drained most of my Qi Energy trying to stop the virus from invading my brain... and now I don't have any. You don't have to worry about me, Yongrui. Once you heal me, you can leave me to fend for myself. I'm sure I'll be able to bear it and escape."
Talk about reverse psychology. After she said that, how could I leave her alone? That would be ungentlemanly, won't it?
Oh well, as long as I do my best, we'll be able to manage.
While I continued healing the Quetzalcoatl, I realized that I left the Sky Kingdom defenseless from the monsters. Fortunately, they followed us all the way down here. Had they not done that, I would've been left with no choice but to defend both the Sky Kingdom and the Quetzalcoatl. If that were to happen, I'd have to sacrifice one or the other.
And yes, I've just proven that staying absolutely still while doing something in a life-and-death situation would actually make the mind overthink. I should probably stop doing that, unnecessarily bothering Hui-ying and the System while they're doing all they can to help me.

Once a little less than half an hour has passed, I thanked Hui-ying and took over healing and skills usage. Since it was somewhat bearable, I decided to give Hui-ying and the System a break for now. Who knows when I'll need their help.
"Hui-ying, once I've completely absorbed the Virus Qi Core from the Quetzalcoatl's body, we'd be sitting ducks... what do you think we should do?" I asked.
<Would you like your Virus Qi Core to breakthrough to the First Stage of the Heavenly Realm?>
<Yes/No>
<Congratulations you've achieved a breakthrough!>
"Um, I " Hui-ying muttered. "Wait! How about you form a contract with her?! You know, just like how you formed a contract with the Astral Lion? If that were to happen, then she'll reside inside your soul or something."
"So, in other words, I'll be the only sitting duck here once all the virus is absorbed?"
"Kind of... like that?"
"I see, thanks for the suggestion. Why didn't I think of that? Such a simple solution." I continued.
"You're talking to yourself again, Yongrui... is that what you do when you feel panicked?" The Quetzalcoatl asked.
"Let's just say, I'm conversing with my alter egos. But hear this out, I finally solved our problem."
"Our problem?"
"Once I absorbed all the virus in your body, we'll both be defenseless. If you haven't noticed yet, the virus I'm absorbing from your body is what's keeping these barriers intact." I calmly explained.
"And so, you have to form a contract with me, right? Hurry along then, it's not like I'd outright refuse when I was the first one to suggest the deed." The Quetzalcoatl enthusiastically remarked.
"Right... um, how do you form a contract with a Quetzalcoatl?"
When I asked that, the Quetzalcoatl's relaxed expression turned sour as she stared at me. She then averted her eyes and glanced towards me a second time. She was being wishy-washy about it, so I concluded that maybe, in order to form a contract, she had to do something embarrassing or something along those lines...
"Um, Yongrui, I just remembered something. You can just leave me here to die and save yourself." She continued. "It's impossible to form a contract anyways."
A moment ago, I could tell that she was utterly elated when I brought up the contract. But now, she looked dejected, as if hopelessness took over her. "What do you mean?" I asked out of curiosity. "If you have to do something embarrassing, then we can just do it together? I'm not going to leave you alone?"
You're important for my plan, after all... and you'll be an awesome partner if we were to form a contract.
"Thank you so much, Yongrui. I don't know what your plans are but I can feel that you meant it when you said I'll be an awesome partner... but unfortunately, it's impossible to form a contract. You can just give up on me, Yongrui."
"I forgot you could read minds heh. Why is it impossible? Are there prerequisites that must be meant? I mean, is there a prerequisite that's impossible to accomplish?"
The Quetzalcoatl nodded.
"What is it then, tell me?"
"You remember how I told you that I came from the Higher Plane? And that we are allied with the Tang Clan?"
"And then the Yan Clan drove you away? What of it?"
"Well, I just remembered... but only someone from a pure bloodline of the Tang Clan could form a contract with us Quetzalcoatl's... that's one of the two prerequisites, the first one being that I should agree with forming a contract."
"And? What about it?"
"Just as I said, only someone from a pure "
"Yes, what about it? I'm from the Tang Clan, anyone would do, right? As long as they are from a pure bloodline?"
