I Sting (Pokemon Poison Type Specialist)

Chapter 146

Chapter 146

Two more days of travelling was all it took for them to reach the signs that indicated where Violet City and the Ruins of Alph were, the intersection between them prompted a decision, one that was already made by their group.

They chose the right side of the forked road, the one where the sign marked by a Unown was pointing towards.

"Do you guys think we'll find a fossil in the ruins?" Whitney turned to the two of them.

"If we want a fossil, I'm pretty sure we're going to have to spend time actually searching for them on the rocks around the area," Grene looked at the pinkette with a dull look, "I am not spending a long time searching for a fossil that I am not going to use,"

"I'm sure there are Fighting Type fossil Pokemon out there right?" Whitney looked at Virah.

"Not as far as we're aware," the researcher shrugged, "so far, the scientific and Pokemaniac communities have only found two shattered fossils that don't belong to the standard Omanyte and Kabuto line,"

"Wait really?" Whitney looked at her, "how so? Isn't that a good sign? Maybe those are Normal or Fighting Types?"

"Not… really," Virah winced, "one of the pieces that they found was a part of some kind of claw, no genetic material unfortunately, but from the studied characteristics, the chances of it being Bug Type are high so don't get your hopes up,"

"Oh," Whitney deflated, "are there more?"

"Yeah," Virah nodded, "we found a piece of some kind of shell but nothing more than that, again, this most likely isn't from a Normal Type, it leans more on Water or Ice,"

"Oh," disappointed, Whitney sighed before turning her eyes in front of her, "still, that Amber thing is a pretty big deal in the fossil community right?"

"Hm? Yeah," Virah opened her Pokewatch, "apparently it belongs to a Flying Type of sorts?" The researcher said, "I haven't done much research on it but we could probably see one if we go to places where fossilized trees are frequently dug up,"

The poison specialist hummed, "this is a big maybe," she said, adding, "and we might also have competition in the form of Pokemaniacs or even rangers so, yeah, not exactly a solid plan but it's worth a shot I think?"

"We should do it," Whitney said.

"I think so too," Grene chimed, "I wanna see what's it about,"

"Fair enough," Virah shrugged, "help me look for signs of Sudowoodoo on the ruins and then we'll go on from there,"

Her friends verbally responded in affirmation and all three of them hastened their pace to the ruins.

It was expectedly crowded when they got there, with Pokemaniacs of all kinds and ages populating the place and filling up abandoned, shattered houses made of limestone.

And it wasn't just them either, Virah had underestimated the amount of people searching for the amber it seems because Lasses, Campers, Youngsters, and various other trainer archetypes were found darting around the place, searching crevices, digging up dirt, and breaking rocks.

"Well then," Virah scratched the back of her head, "it seems that we have more than just Pokemaniacs as competition,"

"Eh it's fine," Whitney moved forward, "it's not like they know where to find the fossils,"

With a shrug, Virah followed after the pinkette and shortly after, Grene tailed after the two of them.

They moved past the crowd with as much efficiency as they realistically could, all the while opening their eyes for any Sudowoodoo, Grene eventually found one using her Aura perception and from there, Virah told them to walk the path it was facing back on.

A bit more walking later and they managed to go to a still crowded area, but not as prominent as that of the places they had went to.

With the box-shaped, ankle-height walls of limestone between, in front of, or next to the ruined limestone houses, Virah could tell that this spot used to be a farm of sorts, with the limestone irrigation lines on the ground being the biggest proof of such a history.

"Huh, there are only Pokemaniacs here," Grene muttered as they stepped into the area.

"I know," Virah nodded, "that's a good sign, now don't let them know that we're searching for the same thing and follow after me in silence,"

Her friends nodded and under the scrutinizing gaze of the glasses wearing, baggy clothed Pokemaniacs, they passed by the area and headed into one of the many entrances of the ruins beneath the ground.

Virah touched the semi-circular tunnel and ran her fingers on the smooth limestone walls, dust. Unsurprising.

When they reached the bottom, Virah grabbed a flashlight and shone it on any spots she was looking at, the walls were barely even weathered and the Unown markings on them barely showed any signs of wear and tear.

She walked near a wall and illuminated the writings, "storage, right, tools shed, left." Virah muttered out the meaning, "we're heading for the storage, most likely, that's where we'll find the Legendary shrines we're looking for,"

"Legendary shrines?" Whitney asked and when she saw Virah make a shushing motion, she closed her mouth before following the direction her friend was pointing at, "oh,"

Virah silently nodded, "pretty much," she says as light came down from the entrance once more, the Pokemaniac shadow seemingly satisfied, now disappearing, "now let's go,"

With nothing but the sounds of their footsteps, they left the general location of the entrance and headed down the path which led to the storage area.

"By the way, we're actually going to one of the shrines," Virah said, she looked back at her friends, their curious look didn't disappear even as they covered their eyes from the sudden light, "I'm confident that there's at least one of those things there,"

"It makes sense, if these people are as religious as the ones we have now, then they'll definitely put important materials on their shrines for worship," Grene nodded.

"That is the thinking I am basing my words on yes," Virah looked forward.

They walked for a while, with Virah looking at the markings of crops such as wheat and barly on top of the door frames of the many rooms they have passed by, they have checked them but found nothing of worth.

She didn't find anything interesting, merely written words, religious practices carved on the walls, as well as Pokemon.

Until, at least, something forced her to stop.

She has looked at the many carved sigils and statues of various Pokemon as they walked and none of them grabbed her attention, let alone made her think twice.

But the carved Pokemon in front of her, one with a serpentine neck with a wavy head of hair, thin, branch-like limbs which end in points, and its most defining feature of all, a strange, pointed oval jewelry on the stomach.

Besides it are two statues that she didn't recognize, one was a quadruped dawning armor with a crown on its stomach, it looked similar to Arceus with one minor change, that being the gemstone on its chest.

Another statue was another long-necked Pokemon that felt way too familiar to Virah but she couldn't figure out why, this one was bipedal, with thick shoulders with gemstones embedded on their center.

Between them and beneath the carved Arceus was a riddle, one that was solved save for one last part, [Here is the shrine of the most powerful deity of all, ******]

Beneath the riddle were a series of blocks with Unown markings that would perfectly fit square-shaped gaps of the blanked part of the riddle.

"Virah?" Whitney's words broke Virah out of her stupor, "what's wrong?"

Instead of answering, Virah stepped forward and as though mind controlled, began rummaging through the gathered blocks, she picked out the proper Unowns, spelling out the name of the God that she recently thought was false and fake.

She laughed hysterically, oh, she was so, so wrong!

Once the name was spelled out, the eyes of the statues shone and a series of glowing lines erupted from the ground before crawling up the walls, the biggest and center most line then split, revealing an untouched room of the ruins.
