Chapter 114: The Crucial Information Brought Back by Little Green
In the guest room of the inn, Charles paced back and forth incessantly.
Although before sending Little Green out, Charles had declared that he had a great deal of trust in Little Green.
However, once Little Green had actually been sent out, Charles found himself filled with regret.
"I sincerely hope nothing happens to Little Green. If she does face any misfortune, I will undoubtedly regret it deeply." Charles muttered to himself, settling back into his original seat after pacing for a while.
Medusa, standing to the side, responded with a smile on her face.
"Master, you need not worry. Little Green will be perfectly fine. Even if she encounters trouble, the ones in real danger will be her adversaries, not her."
Medusa was exceedingly well aware of Little Green's capabilities.
At least within the confines of the trading town, individuals who could pose a substantial threat to Little Green were, in reality, quite scarce.
Aside from Medusa, the only other person who could potentially be a threat was the Serpent General, Zarathustra.
However, in Medusa's perspective, Zarathustra was unlikely to be interested in meddling in Little Green's affairs.
Upon hearing Medusa's words, the expression on Charles's face grew even more grim.
"I am worried about that exact possibility! If Little Green gets into a conflict and actually kills someone, what are we supposed to do then? Can we just run away like we did at Rock Fortress?" Charles exclaimed.
The reason Charles and his companions were able to escape Rock Fortress so effortlessly was due to the fortress being plunged into a state of chaos.
However, the trading town was not as prone to descending into chaos.
After all, as the stronghold of the Serpent general Zarathustra, he would undoubtedly place a high premium on maintaining order here.
If any issues arose in the trading town, Zarathustra might very well intervene personally.
Although Charles's strength had improved compared to before and he was now very close to reaching the sixth tier, he still felt a bit apprehensive about facing Zarathustra, who was at the seventh tier.
"Regardless, Master, you have already sent Little Green out. All we can do now is wait for her return." Medusa said.
Medusa walked over to Charles, gently placing her hands on his shoulders, attempting to calm him down.

Gradually, Charles's mood began to improve.
"You're right. No matter what, all we can do now is patiently wait. Hopefully, Little Green will bring back some crucial information."
After waiting patiently for half an hour, Little Green finally returned to the inn.
"Master, I've discovered some crucial information outside! The Serpent people in the trading town are about to go hunting for the surrounding monsters." Little Green reported.
Upon hearing the news brought by Little Green, a faint smile appeared on Charles's face.
The message that Little Green conveyed was of paramount importance to Charles.
"So, this means that the monsters around the trading town are becoming a significant threat. It seems that the monsters around the trading town must be at the level of The Desert Giant Scorpion." Charles immediately made a preliminary judgment.
"If we offer to help the Serpent people, do you think they would allow us to join the hunt?"
Charles asked Medusa, his mind racing with possibilities.
Medusa hesitated slightly, showing a hint of uncertainty.
"Master, I believe these Serpent people don't trust us. Even if we offer to join their hunt, they wouldn't allow it." Medusa said.
Just as Medusa finished her sentence, Little Green immediately countered.
"Medusa, you're wrong. The Serpent people would definitely welcome us. They're actually recruiting people right on the street to join the hunt." Little Green explained.
"According to the information I got from others, the Serpent people in the trading town have launched several rounds of hunts against the surrounding monsters. However, the monsters haven't suffered any major setbacks."
"The threat to the trading town is actually increasing. The Serpent people are eager for additional help." Little Green continued.
With Little Green's affirmative response, Charles made a swift decision.
"Medusa, you'll stay at the inn. Little Green and I will join the Serpent people's hunting team." Charles said. After finishing his sentence, he left the room with Little Green.
Medusa let out a sigh, and with a wistful tone, began to speak.
"Why does Master prefer to act with Little Green? Could it be that Little Green is more charming than I am?"
Medusa, in actuality, was overthinking the situation to some extent.
The reason Charles was willing to team up with Little Green was merely because Little Green could demonstrate greater prowess in skirmishes. Moreover, Little Green's combat style was more likely to be acknowledged and respected by others.
Although Medusa was indeed stronger than Little Green, her combat skills were too peculiar.
However, the abilities Medusa employed during combat were somewhat too bizarre.
Should Medusa join the Serpent people's hunting squad, the other members of the team would undoubtedly pay significant attention to her. It is highly probable that they might uncover the secrets of Charles and his companions.
Although Medusa felt slightly dissatisfied, she still obeyed Charles's command.
By this time, Charles and Little Green had already arrived at the door of the Desert Caravan leader's room.
Charles knocked heavily on the door. After a moment, the caravan leader opened it.
"What brings you here? Have you encountered some trouble in the trading town and need my help to resolve it?" the caravan leader asked.
The caravan leader thought Charles wouldn't seek him out unless there was trouble.
Charles shook his head. "We haven't run into any trouble. I'm here just to inform you of our upcoming actions."
The caravan leader nodded, eyes fixed on Charles, listening intently.
"My companions and I have decided to join the Serpent people's hunting team.
We will help the Serpent people hunt the surrounding monsters. This way, we can not only gain spoils from the hunt but also earn the Serpent people's favor."
The caravan leader's expression changed dramatically upon hearing Charles's words.
He quickly pulled Charles and Little Green into his room.
"You absolutely cannot do this! Joining the hunting team will put you and your companions in tremendous danger." the caravan leader said in a very serious tone to Charles.
"Why? Do you think the Serpent people will deliberately send us to our deaths? That wouldn't benefit them in any way."
Charles replied, thinking the caravan leader was being overly cautious.
The caravan leader sighed deeply and spoke in a tone laden with regret.
"The Serpent people won't deliberately send you to your deaths. But they also won't provide you any protection during the battles.
I've heard some crucial information from other caravans. Some people who thought themselves very strong also joined the Serpent people's hunting teams.
But during the battles, all of them died. Even the Serpent guards and knights can't ensure their own safety during the hunts.
I'm telling you all this because I consider you a friend. I hope you don't take this risk."
The caravan leader, having reached this point, looked intently at Charles.
He truly regarded Charles as the best friend he had met on the road, so he didn't want Charles to encounter any danger.
After hearing these words, Charles was, in fact, somewhat moved.
Previously, among the people Charles had encountered, there were some good and some bad. However, even the good ones had not offered Charles such substantial assistance.
"I know you're looking out for me, and I appreciate that you want me to stay safe. But I hope you can trust in my abilities."
Though Charles was grateful to the caravan leader, he wasn't going to change his mind because of the leader's advice.
Upon hearing Charles' response, the caravan leader heaved a sigh.
"If you've made up your mind, then I won't say anything more. My caravan has some weapons. If you find any you like, just take them."
Faced with the caravan leader's kindness, Charles chose to decline.
He knew the weapons the caravan leader had were actually quite ordinary. There was no need for him to take them.
"My own weapons are already sufficient. Just wait for my good news. If I acquire any valuable items during my hunt, I may need to trade with your caravan."
The caravan leader nodded upon hearing this.
"One last piece of advice: if you encounter Serpent Knights, don't believe a word they say. They always lie to others."
The caravan leader's reminder left Charles utterly bewildered.
However, he didn't plan to ask any further questions, as he believed that the caravan leader's knowledge was likely limited to this extent.
"I got it, I'll be careful!"
After saying this, Charles left with Little Green.
The caravan leader accompanied them all the way to the inn's entrance.
Watching their departing figures, the caravan leader couldn't help but sigh, "Why do these adventurers always choose to do such risky things? Isn't living a simple, peaceful life good enough?"
