Infinite Potential System

Chapter 214: Familiar Amulet, Restocking

William walked with haste down the street, hoping to avoid confrontation with Harold or anyone else that was interested in his Starmetal Shortswords. He felt awkward that he had to run over such a trivial item, but what could he do?

If I sell these Shortswords, I can make a little bit of money and get the people that are tailing me off my back. If they really want to chase me after that, I'll find another way to get rid of them...

William checked the time, seeing that it was barely two in the afternoon. You're a bit early, but I'll allow it I suppose. Good job you two.

Nine Potential Points in a few minutes wasn't bad at all. William hoped they would scavenge some materials for him as well, but he had forgotten to give that order with the threat of enemy Cultivators looming over his head.

He walked into a nearby Equipment Shop. Hidden behind glass cases and cupboards on the left side were various weapons made of iron, steel, or other materials that William could only identify because of his Forging Talent.

On the other side of the shop were similarly designed armors, while a set of four display cases holding many pendants were grouped together in the center of the room.

At the front desk was another display case, which held the highest-quality equipment in the store, among a few other necessary goods like torches, Mana Regeneration Pills, and whetstones for sharpening one's weapons.

There was no presence of the weaker materials like copper or bronze, leaving William a bit surprised at the standards of the shop. It greatly exceeded what William had seen even in the Five Element's Sect, which was a renowned Sect known for its high-quality gear.

"What do you think? The quality of our gear is unmatched, even in the Azures Continent." the shopkeeper smiled from the other side of the counter. His face was squarish and plain, while his hands were rough and calloused from decades of blacksmithing.

William nodded and walked straight to the pendants and appraised them one by one. Many of the pendants sported simple defensive abilities, raising a one-time use shield that would defend against an attack that exceeded a certain threshold.

The pendants made of gold could only defend against attacks up to the Golden Core Realm and cost roughly five Mana Stones each. The silver pendants had slightly stronger Arrays that could even stop attacks at the peak of the Nascent Soul Realm, but they were ten times more expensive.

The strongest pendant William saw was a familiar pendant that he had seen before. It was placed in a display case by itself, nested within another display case at the front counter.

It was a Tribulation Transcendence Protective Amulet that could be recharged and was constructed exactly like the one he was currently wearing. William almost fainted when he saw the price tag of ten thousand Mana Stones.

Is my Amulet really that rare? Amazing...

William complimented his Master, who had probably created both the Amulet he was wearing and the one concealed within the display case. It seemed that someone else had visited the Gravitas Ruins in the past and retrieved this Amulet at some point.

"Oh, that one is a rare Amulet. It will protect you from even a Tribulation Transcendence expert once, but I honestly wouldn't recommend it." the shopkeeper said.

"Why not?"

"Well...if you're facing against a Tribulation Transcendence expert, you're probably dead anyway. No amount of protection will defend you forever."

William nodded but disagreed in his mind. The shopkeeper would probably lose his mind if he knew that William had already come in contact with many Tribulation Transcendence experts.

While defending against a single attack didn't matter much if the enemy was faster, it didn't matter much in William's case.

With both the Space and Illusion Elements, if William couldn't run, he could still hide. The opposite was the same. If someone could see through his Illusion Magic, William could flash away with his Space Element.

The Protection Amulets might not be enough to beat a Tribulation Transcendence Cultivator, but it would hopefully prevent him from being caught off guard.

If William didn't have Riyald to craft these things for him, William might have been tempted to come back in the future and buy the Amulet. He looked around the store for a while longer, inspecting the Arrays of the special items for ideas on how to improve his own equipment.

William spent a hundred Mana Stones buying Mana Regeneration Pills from the store, since he didn't have the materials to refine more himself and he was completely out of Pills. The store only charged four Mana Stones per Tier 2 Pill, so he was able to purchase twenty-five in one go.

He didn't see anything else of interest in the store, so William thanked the shopkeeper for his time and spent some time visiting the other stores for necessary supplies.

Rather than spending his precious Mana Stones, William was able to buy a years' worth of food supplies with six hundred Gold Coins from a nearby market. He spent his money on a wide variety of food items, along with specialized sauces and a few bottles of spices that would help him make even more delicious food in the future.

He stored all of the food in a new Space Ring that he bought for only ten Mana Stones, which would ensure that the food was always in top condition and would never spoil.

He sold the Epic Staff that wasn't considerably powerful for two thousand Gold Coins, which he promptly spent on ten Titanium Rings that he planned to turn into Space Rings later. While William already had quite a few Space Rings, he didn't have any specialized ones that could store Alchemy ingredients.

The price for specialized Space Rings made of titanium was nearly a hundred Mana Stones per ring, which was much too expensive considering William could create them himself. With a little bit of practice and some Complete Arrays, William could probably make even better Space Rings than the stores could sell!

William realized that being his own blacksmith while also able to improve items with his own Arrays was an incredibly powerful advantage. If he added Alchemy to the mix, William had all the skills to make a lot of money very fast!

While exploring the various shops, William found out that the next Auction would be held the following day, and the Auctions were conducted weekly. His timing was pretty bad this time around, since he was hoping to have a bit more time to figure out the Capital before the Auction.

At the end of the day, William paid the System ten Potential Points to let his Companion Beasts know he was safe, then rented a room for the night in a hotel.

Damn, even a hotel room costs two Mana Stones per night! This place is too expensive!

The hotel staff charged him two Mana Stones up front, then prepared him a room that sported many Perfect Arrays that would defend against even a Soul Formation Cultivator for a few minutes.

William wondered how many Perfect Array Masters were in the Capital, considering even a hotel used Perfect Arrays.
