Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 986: New Laws (1)

Even with Ames's presence and use of the Sigil's Blessing, it was impossible for the Regis Elite to bridge the gap of several mage levels.

They could not gain an advantage, but they were not getting oppressed either— for short, they were in a stalemate.

Ames knew she could not allow the situation to stay that way. She might have a deep reserve of magic energy within her magic core, but they were not bottomless. True she could replenish them using the magic energies in the surroundings so that was not really a problem, but the thing was, her stamina was not the same.

Besides, The Emperor's Elite Mages and Raelia could also replenish their magic energy without any problem.

While their stamina could not hold a candle against Ames's, the fact that she, Ames, was supporting the Regis Elite, while also engaging almost all of the enemies by herself was burning her out.

A dragon's stamina far exceeded that of other beings. But they still tire. And once their stamina was spent, they would automatically go into hibernation.

Ames did not want to go into hibernation when she was surrounded by enemies. She could risk it if she were alone, but there were others with her. And while she did not really care what would happen to some of them, she could not say the same with her literal descendants— the Regis Elite.

Besides, that woman was also there.

There was no telling what Kyran would do if that woman met a bad fate.

Ames suddenly got annoyed at the thought that crossed her mind. Not because she hated the idea of Kyran and that woman together— she acknowledged that woman already but would never admit it to their faces— but because of the fact that they still had no news about Kyran's whereabouts.

Nevertheless, knowing that The Emperor's Elite Mages came to find her must meant he, The Emperor, had not captured Kyran yet.

In any case, Ames knew she had to do something to get them out of this situation and fast.

With this in mind, Ames sent out a telepathic message to the owner of the ship, who remained inside.

For the record, Alastor and the others did not come out to assist Ames and the Regis Elite to avoid getting them overly involved with their business.

After all, Kyran was a Regis, and their family should deal with anything that happened to him by themselves.

Ames was aware that Alastor and The Coven wanted to get involved just because Kyran's possession of the Shaiha would disrupt the balance between the two realms. Nonetheless, she wanted them to limit their involvement.

As for the Guardians... well, Ames did not really care about them. But that did not mean she did not appreciate their help regardless if they had other ulterior motives for doing so.

After sending a telepathic message, Ames got ready. Her silver eyes glowed as she pulled back her head. Simultaneously, her action was replicated by the translucent manifestation of her dragon form that enveloped her like an oversized armor. After which, she and her translucent dragon form opened their mouths and let out a realm-shattering roar.

"Wha...!"

"Ngh...!"

The Emperor's Elite Mages were caught off guard by Ames's sudden roar. They roused their magic hastily and enhanced their magic barriers to resist her attack.

However, they still failed to guard against her roar's raw strength, with a handful of them receiving a full-blown attack that ground their insides to mush.

Several of them spat out a mouthful of blood, with a few falling unconscious on the spot.

The only one who successfully guarded herself against Ames's roar was Raelia. She remained seated on her throne while bombarding Ames with her diamond blades.

Unfortunately, Raelia's blades were knocked off by Ames's dragon form manifestation, with a few shattering upon collision.

The Regis Elite were not idle. After Ames's roar knocked off most of the Elite Mages, they swooped in and attacked the remaining ones who got stunned by the roar.

Some of the remaining Elite Mages waved their hands and secured their fallen members inside their storage pouches. At the same time, the rest intercepted the Regis Elite.

Foooom!

A huge array formation appeared above and beneath the ship.

Loar, whom Ames sent a telepathic message, telling him to prepare the ship's long-range transmission array, made his move upon seeing the enemies getting pushed back.

The Regis Elite were aware of Ames's plan and stopped mid-way from attacking the remaining Elite Mages.

Raelia's eyes narrowed as she saw the transmission array on the ship.

The Elite Mages also scowled upon realizing what Ames was planning.

"Don't think you could escape!"

"Dimen—!"

"Dimension."

Before the acting leader of the Elite Mages could activate his Dimension, Raelia already summoned hers.

However.

RAAAWRGH!

Ames let out another realm-shattering roar, shattering Raelia's Dimension before it could even expand.

Raelia's eyes widened at Ames's timing. This was actually another way to destroy a Dimension. Attack it before it could even form.

However, the only ones who could do this were pure dragons. This was because Draconic magic was known as the most destructive magic of all.

When Kyran encountered Deus's automaton, he did not know about Dimensions, which resulted in him getting trapped and beaten up in no time.

Unbeknownst to Raelia and the others, Ames's roar destroying the Dimension was a coincidence.

Initially, Ames only wanted to release another roar to disrupt any move the Elite Mages and Raelia would attempt.

Fortunately, her timing was impeccable, and she succeeded in destroying Raelia's Dimension before it could expand.

Soon after Raelia's Dimension was shattered, the ship's transmission array, which was light golden in color, shimmered and turned to dark purple.

This was obviously caused by True Void, who could no longer wait for Loar to complete the array's activation. He did not want their enemies to summon another Dimension because there was no telling if Ames could destroy it again. He did not know about the advantage of Draconic magic over Dimension. It was just that he had a bad feeling about staying there.

[The rebels are on the move. Come back to the Higher Realm, and let us meet as soon as possible.]

Ames's eyes flickered slightly as a voice spoke in her head. She looked at the woman, seated on the throne with a scowl that did not reflect in her eyes, before she was transported along with the ship.

"Ugh...!" True Void groaned and immediately disengaged his armor form on Neo as soon as they reappeared several miles away from the enemies.

He then turned into a miniature armor, to which he was already accustomed, and sat on the table.

"Oi, Loar, complete your array's activation at once and transport us again!"

Alastor's eyes widened under his mask as he stared unblinkingly at True Void.

"What...?"

Unfortunately, Alastor's doubts could not be cleared at that point because they still had to get away. True Void might have transported them, but the distance those mages from the Higher Realm could traverse was something they could not underestimate. They had to gain as much distance as possible to escape those people's pursuit.

"I understand," Loar answered, looking at True Void with unmasked fascination.

True Void had always fascinated him, and learning that he was a magic weapon, not an automaton, made him even more appealing. Unfortunately, Kyran had refused Loar's proposal in disecting True Void to understand his internal workings.

Laor activated the ship's long-range transmission array several times before they made a full stop.

By then, Ames and the Regis Elite already went inside and entered the meeting room.

"I will have to return to the Higher Realm as soon as possible," Ames declared the moment she entered the room.

Everyone looked at her in surprise.

"What about Kyran?"

The one who asked this was True Void.

Cyneah also wanted to ask the same, but she was hesitant to speak up in front of Ames because of their not-so-good first meeting.

"Continue the search," Ames replied. Without waiting for True Void to ask a follow-up question, she turned to the Regis Elite and said, "I am taking you all with me."

"Oi, oi, Ames," True Void started to protest. "We needed Raya's magic to track down Kyran. If you're taking all of them with you... More importantly, why are you suddenly in a hurry to go back?"

True Void only heard that something happened in the Dragon plane because Aron sensed fluctuations coming from the Regis Terram. He did not know the full details, although he more or less guessed that The Emperor had something to do with it.

"I understand that you're worried about the Dragon plane but suddenly deciding to leave..."

"Who said I am worried about the Dragon plane?" Ames snorted while looking at True Void disdainfully. "Are you looking down on us dragons? Do you have a death wish?"

"Don't twist my words," True Void replied in exasperation.
