Lord Summoner's Freedom Philosophy: Grimoire of Love

Chapter 160 Journey To The North (14) The Winter Wolves

The big and quick icicles summoned by the ice golem gave not just a considerable damage, but it was a great damage that is big enough that there are only 3 out of 14 winter wolves survived from that attack.

Even though they have a huge body that is much more threatening than other wolf-type magic beasts, that huge body of theirs made it easier for the ice golem to aim at them.

After looking at the sight of their brethren getting killed in such a horrible way, the three winter wolves got blinded by rage and went straight toward the ice golem to avenge their brethren.

Just like other wolves that are considered as highly social animals, they cared a lot about their brethren and the member of their pack. They nurture the sick and the injured, and made a complex communication and social structure to maintain the pack.

At usual hunts and circumstances, those familial love in the pack could give them a stronger power as a pack, but at a time like this where they are facing strong opponents.

Their familial love for the pack has become a weakness of them.

*Boom!*

The ice golem swings his giant right arm at the wolf that approached him from his right, but the agile wolf easily dodged his attack, and leaped to its head. It opened its mouth and bare its fangs, but the ice golem stomped its feet to the ground, sending the wolf and the other approaching winter wolves to some distance.

*Grrrrr!*

The winter wolves once growled as they stared at the ice golem threateningly. Looking at the sight, Lyan narrowed his eyes as something caught his eye.

It's not because it's a fight between a strong ice golem with the renowned winter wolves, but it's because that he saw the eyes of the ice golem that should be stagnant if he's like the other usual golems.

The eyes shone, and it seems that those brilliant light blue eyes are telling the winter wolves before him, 'I'll accept your challenge!' or something along those lines.

As if catching his message, the winter wolves once again dashed toward him.

Just like before, he swings his giant right arm and hits only the air, and the wolf once again leaped to its head. But this time-

*Thrust!*

As if he learned from his mistake before, the golem does not let his guard down, and seems to predict the movement pattern of the winter wolf and immediately thrust its body mercilessly with its giant left arm that has transformed into a huge spear.

Even though one wolf died, there are still the other two. The ice golem only managed to block that one winter wolf, but the other two managed to land their fangs on his shoulder and his waist. But there's something strange.

The winter wolves let out a whimper, showing the frustration of their current situation. But it's not surprising. Their fangs that they bury deep into the ice golem as they attempted to damage him ended up getting stuck, disabling them from moving. No matter how much they tried to escape, it seems that their fangs got frozen and got stuck inside the ice.

The coldness from the ice golem alone is enough to make the winter wolves that are supposed to be resistant to coldness feel like their skull and brain are freezing. But what made them shiver the most is something more than that.

It's when they saw the eyes of the ice golems that seemed to be shining more brilliantly than ever, emitting a dangerous light. As if answering their guts, the finishing move of the ice golem began.

*Thrust!* *Thrust!* *Thrust!* *Thrust!*

As if turning into a cactus or a hedgehog, countless huge ice needles appeared from all over its body, piercing the two winter wolves attacking it, skewering them.

"Wow!! Wow!!!!" Tesha that was clinging to Lyan started to separate herself and standard at the wagon to get a clearer vision of the exciting battle unfolding before her eyes.

Lyan still remembers her face when she asked him whether he was a summoner or not because of the acid ants that followed his command. When he said yes, her expression looks like she saw Santa Claus which made Lyan break into a smile.

(That was unexpected. That ice golem... He's very intelligent. It seems that it's not your normal golem- Well, I guess it's not unexpected if he's not a normal golem since he got summoned by the grimoire as well) (Hestia)

(T-There seems to be complex magic circles formed in both the ice golem's heart and head...) (Sylphia)

Looking back at the ice golem and remembering how his eyes shone as if he possess intelligence the same as humans made Lyan think about something.

(Does that guy works the same as an artificial intelligence or something? I wonder if the stigma of the world getting ruled by golems will appear as well in this world) (Lyan)

As Lyan's thinking some pointless stuff, the battle at the sides of the wagon is also occurring.

The leader of the winter wolf pack saw how the battle unfolded with its own eyes. At this point, there is no longer option of fleeing. They've chosen the wrong enemy, but even if they try to run-

The leader of the winter wolf pack glanced at Lyan on the wagon. As their eyes met, the leader of the winter wolf pack know that there is no longer a chance for them to flee.

As the fight was about to start after Lyan's eyes and the leader of the winter wolf pack met, an image that he often saw in his former world entered his mind.

The image where carts got pulled by the Siberian huskies. With these winter wolves that are as tall as humans, won't they be much more capable to pull the wagon more expertly than that useless black aggressive horse for his journey to the north?

Immediately, Lyan transmits his thought and gives his command to the Hobu, the earth golem, and the shadow servants.

(Do not kill them! Defeat them until they are powerless, but leave them alive!) (Lyan)

When Lyan gave those orders, Hobu tilts his head as if questioning where does that sudden command came from, but he then immediately pours his soul to follow his master's orders perfectly.

This time, Lyan does not summon the Deadlight to battle the winter wolves and protect him on the journey after considering the risk of leaving the trails of undead mana on his trace.

It will be more than just troublesome if people spread the word and he has to get targeted by the church because of it. With those explanations, the Deadlight loyally accepts his reasoning humbly, but he still requests to be summoned in case that there is an opponent that the other summoned creatures can't defeat. It will be absurd if he let his master battle such an opponent when he should be the one who fights before him.

The difference between the strength of Lyan's summoned creatures and the winter wolves is evident, but it's difficult to just defeat them without killing them immediately. So the battle ended up going on for about an hour until the rest of the winter wolves finally collapsed.

Lyan ordered Hobu to bring the leader of the winter wolf pack before him, and after looking at it closely, Lyan realized how big the leader of the winter wolf is.

Its high is about a half size bigger than the other winter wolves, its muscles are solid, and its fangs are bigger and sharper than the other winter wolves. of course, the mana contained inside it is bigger as well.

"Now... How do I subdue this guy..." Lyan uttered under his breath. Then after pondering for a while, Lyan froze the winter wolf leader's body, leaving only its head bare to the surface before healing it until all of the wounds on its body closed and woke it up.

The winter wolf leader seems to be perplexed when it wakes up, but Lyan immediately uses his mind magic and makes an image of the leader of the wolf and its pack kneeling before Lyan.

"Serve me, and I'll let you live," Lyan unleashed his bloodlust to pressure the winter wolf together with its mana aura.

The winter wolf leader is intelligent, so by giving the image made from the illusion, he must understand what Lyan wanted. And-

<The [Winter Wolf Alpha] has been subdued by the host. Registering it as the summoned creature of the grimoire>

He succeeded.
