Loser System and Berserker Me

Chapter 197: Kneel and Prostrate

Chapter 197: Kneel and Prostrate

“Stand your ground and counterattack!”

The sight of a gigantified terracotta warrior destroying the defenses they had deployed on the city wall with a single strike left Tahir’s face distorted in horror.

True God above, what are those abominations? I don’t get it! I don’t get it at all!

Tahir kept barking out orders, but none of his soldiers were moving.

He turned around and saw that even his aides had fallen into a daze. Very few of them were able to remain on their feet. Many even had dubious wet spots on their crotch, emanating an awful stench.

“Bastards!” Tahir beat up his aides. “What have become of you people? And you have the galls to call yourself warriors of the true God? Drag out the ballistae right now!”

Only at Tahir’s beating did the other commanders finally snap out of their daze and urge the soldiers to operate the ballistae.

But not everyone was scared silly. Some were scared crazy.

“Impossible!’

“This must be a lie!”

“Yes, it must be a lie! Maybe it’s an illusion conjured by the Tangs!”

Some soldiers shouted in a frenzy before charging at one of the gigantified terracotta warriors. They embodied the hopes of all the soldiers.

Maybe they are right? What if these terracotta warriors are just an illusion?

Humans were willing to believe anything in a state of extreme fear.

It was a pity that the gigantified terracotta warriors before them were the real deal. They didn’t even bother paying heed to the ants on the ground; they marched forward with heavy footsteps, making their way to the few strategic locations.

Kacha!

It was the sound of crushed bones and flesh, accompanied by the sounds of dripping blood.

The soldiers who charged forth were like cockroaches waging war against humans; a stomp from the gigantified terracotta warrior reduced them to meat paste.

That was the gap between both sides. A direct strike from the gigantified terracotta warriors spelled certain death. Even a scrape resulted in severe injuries. Those crushed under its feet were guaranteed to be mashed.

“RUN!!!”

The soldiers scattered in all directions.

True God above, what should we do?

Ironically, they had only been able to preserve their fighting will because they were scared crazy, but now, even that bit of fighting will had worn out.

“Where are my ballistae?! What’s taking so long?!” a commander anxiously roared.

The soldiers adjusting a ballista had their faces completely pale, their hands trembling nonstop as if they were suffering from a stroke.

Tok.

A gigantified terracotta warrior suddenly turned to them.

Horrified, the soldiers anxiously fired their arrows at the terracotta warrior, but their arrows bounced off upon contact with the latter’s armor.

The gigantified terracotta warrior began sprinting toward them, its towering stature crushing all the houses along the way.

“Fire!”

The soldiers were finally done adjusting the ballista. A spear imbued with a faint glow whizzed across the air, leaving a shadow in its wake.

The gigantified terracotta warrior raised his cudgel and lightly deflected the spear; the spear immediately shattered into countless pieces.

“NO!!!”

The gigantified terracotta warrior rammed into that section of the city wall with its incomparable strength, tearing it down.

Bam!

Dust flew everywhere. The soldiers who were previously standing on the city wall were now buried in rubble.

Merv’s garrison troops fell in despair.

None of their means were effective on the gigantified terracotta warriors. It felt like their only viable option was to flee as far away from here as possible.

It doesn’t matter whether the Tangs were deities or demons; they aren’t entities that we, mortals, can trifle with!

No wonder the Tangs are fond of calling themselves ‘heavenly soldiers’; they really have an army comprising deities!

That goddamned Tahir! Is your wife cheating on you, or did your son and daughter sleep together? I don’t know what gave you a suicidal wish, but you shouldn’t drag us down with you! If you want to die so much, do it yourself! Don’t involve us in a fight between deities!

To soldiers’ despair, there was not a safe place in the city.

The gigantified terracotta warriors rampaged throughout the city. The snickering specters assaulted soldiers as soon as they let their guards down. The ghost horsemen in the sky would descend at random intervals to massacre.

On top of that, there was Shu Yichao’s onslaught of Lightning Arrows and his black metal bits.

“HAHAHA!” Shu Yichao laughed frenziedly as he relentlessly dished out attacks.

The black metal bits mixed with the devastating lightning produced a force so strong that he could destroy a hundred people in a single strike if the soldiers were squeezed close enough. What was left in the wake of his attacks was charred ground.

“Hm?”

Just then, Shu Yichao spotted a general dressed in extravagant armor escaping under the escort of a few soldiers.

Oh hoh. That’s a lot of red dots. I should clear them.

Without any hesitation, he unleashed his lightning and black metal bits at those people.

“NO!!! I SURR—” Tahir screamed in despair, only for his voice to be stopped short.

The vultures and crows following Shu Yichao shook their heads. There aren’t any medium-done or well-done; they are all overcooked.

The cacophony didn’t last long before Merv was plunged into silence—eternal silence.

“Why are they crawling into the city?”

At the city gates, Shu Yichao saw Li Siguo and his aides kneeling on the floor, slowly inching their way into the city.

“Is it another bug?”

“I sure wonder why.” Miazova rolled his eyes at Shu Yichao.

Why wouldn’t Li Siguo kneel? I bet he’s scared out of his wits now.

He might have realized from the start that the Tangs were not to be messed with, and he might have also rightly predicted that the Tangs would have no trouble conquering the cities en route to Khorasan.

However, there was no way he could have known that the Tangs would be this strong!

The terracotta warriors suddenly transformed into giants and tore down Merv, a sturdy fortress, as if it were a toy in their hands, and crushed Tahir’s veteran army as if they were ants.

Is there anything in the world that could stop the Tangs?

Li Siguo couldn’t even envision it, so he could only further lower his head.
