Married to the Protagonist

Chapter 26: I’ll kiss you. (3)

Under Yan Cheng’s gaze, Chen Jinyao felt extremely bashful. She vaguely ate some dates and casually answered, acting as if she had listened to her mother’s advice and agreed.

She was scared that if she didn’t display her attitude, her mother would lecture her to death.

Talks about going on vacation during the Chinese New Year and coming over to celebrate in advance were just all schemes!

Had she known this would happen, she’d rather die than to come.

This was a difficult dinner.

In the end, Chen Jinyao almost dragged Yan Cheng and escaped.

She refused to listen. She refused to listen to them.

But even if she escaped from the dining table, she couldn’t escape the residence. Before leaving, Mother Chen pulled Chen Jinyao over to the side and asked, “Yan Cheng treats you well, right?”

As parents, no matter what, their hearts were biased towards their children.

“He treats me well. Don’t worry.” Chen Jinyao nodded.

She paused before saying, “I know how to live properly, and I will do so. Mother, you made me feel very awkward today.”

“What’s there to feel awkward about?” Mother Chen didn’t see her point. “I’m doing all this for you. I’m just scared that you…” She suddenly paused.

“Scared that I’d what? Scared that I’d do something shocking because of Huo Qidong? Mother, you never trusted me. I never did anything of that in high school.”

“Look at you. You still act like you don’t trust me.”

“No matter what, don’t do this in the future. I will live a good life with Yan Cheng. Now that you’ve done this, I have no idea what to do.” Chen Jinyao exclaimed all of this in one breath. She slightly knitted her brows and exclaimed. “Nevermind. Let’s not talk about it. It’s already 9pm. We need to go now.”

Mother Chen exclaimed, “Fine, I’ll just believe your words for now. Right, I packed some mutton soup for you. Take it along with you. You can drink it after heating it up.”

“…”

“My mother is really something. In the past, she urged me to get married, and now she is urging me to have children. She’s so scary.” Coming out of the Chen Residence, Chen Jinyao still had lingering fear.

Yan Cheng walked by her side and held her hands, a faint smile flickering in his eyes.

She came up with a conclusion. “They’re just trying to do everything to help stabilize our marriage.”

The moonlight was hazy and dragged the two’s shadows out.

They stayed quiet for a while before Chen Jinyao looked up at him. She waved her hands and seemingly smiled, asking, “Hey, are you hot?”

“Yes.” Yan Cheng was honest.

“Don’t worry. You can just go home and take a shower.”

The man lifted the corner of his lips up. “I don’t think so.”

“…”

When they almost arrived at the parking lot, they encountered Huo Qidong.

It was already late, but he was still walking his golden retriever.

This encounter was a bit awkward. Yan Cheng reacted quickly and immediately acted drunk, leaning against Chen Jinyao and rubbing his hair against her neck.

Huo Qidong narrowed his eyes in the dark. “Yaoyao, long time no see.”

From his tone, he acted familiar as if they were just old friends reuniting.

“…” Chen Jinyao nodded, not so friendly. She returned the words and then ended this reunion, using the excuse that Yan Cheng was drunk.

Huo Qidong narrowed his eyes in interest, eyeing the direction that the car left in.

Half an hour or so later, they arrived at home.

The moment the car was stopped, the “drunk” on the passenger seat rummaged over. While his eyes were half-closed, he reached over to lift her hair ends, carelessly asking, “Yaoyao?”

She subconsciously hummed in agreement before she froze.

Only

Yan Cheng parted his lips faintly, saying, “It sounds so bad.”

“…” You probably don’t know what death is.

They remained silent momentarily.

Chen Jinyao then rushed him out of the car.

Because in a narrow, quiet, and dark space where it was just the two of them, “chemical reaction” could easily happen.

The two’s gazes met one another, and there seemed to be a cackling of thunder.

Almost at the same time that she processed what happened and wanted to push him, it was unclear what had gotten into Yan Cheng but he grabbed her wrist and brought her into his arms. He pressed one hand behind the back of her head and leaned over to kiss her.

His breath overwhelmed her, faintly reeking of alcohol. However, he was also aggressive as if wanting to swallow her whole.
