Chapter 39
C39 – Spirit Wheel Stage Level Four Heaven
Deep within Azure Sun Mountain, a massive Demonic Beast moved swiftly through the forest, its large strides suggesting it was fleeing from some unseen pursuer.
Suddenly, a red light sliced through the heavens. The beast screamed in agony as its colossal form crashed to the ground, toppling several large trees before coming to a halt.
“I’ve taken down another one,” declared Zhuang Xing with satisfaction.
Three days had passed since he had slain Bao Guangsha. Zhuang Xing had spent that time within the mountain, relentlessly hunting Demonic Beasts to enhance his strength. He paid no heed to the Celestial Eagle Gang’s bounty on his head. With his power, capturing him would prove a formidable challenge to anyone, barring Bao Houdi himself.
A surge of potent energy flowed into Zhuang Xing’s body. His Fire Phoenix Spell worked to break down this energy, transforming it into his own Spiritual Force.
”Time for a breakthrough,” Zhuang Xing exclaimed, his laughter echoing through the forest. A rumbling sensation emanated from his dantian, followed by a sound reminiscent of shattering.
The Heaven Earth Spiritual Energy around him began to whirl and rush into his body, causing his aura to climb at an astonishing rate. In no time, he ascended to the Spirit Wheel Stage Level Four Heaven.
”Spirit Wheel Stage Level Four Heaven,” Zhuang Xing murmured, clenching his fists and reveling in the surge of power within. His progress was astoundingly swift; in merely three days, he had achieved another breakthrough. Such a rate of advancement would surely astonish many.
But Zhuang Xing’s triumphant expression soon turned grave as he sensed multiple presences encircling him.
”So, you’ve decided to reveal yourself,” he stated, his gaze locking onto a middle-aged man exuding an immensely strong force. This power was leagues beyond the Spirit Wheel Stage. Zhuang Xing was almost certain that this man was none other than Bao Houdi, the leader of the Celestial Eagle Gang.
As Zhuang Xing scrutinized Bao Houdi, the gang leader was equally taken aback, his eyes wide with disbelief. He had not anticipated that the young man before him, the one who had slain their Divine Beast and his own son, would be so youthful.

Zhuang Xing’s youth was not the only thing that astounded him; his level of cultivation was even more surprising. He had only reached the Spirit Wheel Stage Level Four Heaven and had just achieved this breakthrough. This meant that when he had slain the Golden Wolf Eagle and Bao Guangsha, his cultivation was merely at the Spirit Wheel Stage Level Three Heaven. Despite his relatively low level of cultivation, Zhuang Xing possessed formidable strength, a fact that would shock anyone.
“You’re the one who killed my son, aren’t you?” a voice challenged.
Zhuang Xing simply nodded in confirmation. “That’s right, I am.”
Bao Houdi’s fists tightened, and a domineering aura erupted from him, causing a palpable sense of oppression to weigh heavily on those around. Zhuang Xing was taken aback as well. Bao Houdi, a Spirit Sea Stage Expert, was significantly more powerful than Bao Guangsha. Even though Zhuang Xing had just advanced to the Spirit Wheel Stage Level Four Heaven, he was still outmatched.
”You deserve death,” Bao Houdi declared, his aura swirling with lethal intent. The audacity of this young man to kill his son was unforgivable.
”We’ll see if you can catch me first,” Zhuang Xing retorted, and then he bolted. Bao Houdi’s power was overwhelming; Zhuang Xing knew he stood no chance in a direct confrontation. His only option was to flee.
”Do you really think I’d let you get away?” Bao Houdi bellowed in rage. They had been trying to capture Zhuang Xing for three days without success. Now that they had finally cornered him, allowing him to slip away would be a disgrace.
”These two are for you,” Zhuang Xing said with a smirk. He swiftly grabbed the two Celestial Eagle Gang disciples nearest to him and hurled them at Bao Houdi, a tactic he had prepared for his escape.
But Zhuang Xing had sorely underestimated Bao Houdi’s resolve to end his life. As the two disciples lunged at him, Bao Houdi didn’t even blink. He clenched his fists and delivered a ferocious blow. His overwhelming power struck the disciples, and with agonizing screams, they were obliterated into a gruesome mess of blood and flesh.
The horrific scene sent shivers down the spines of those who witnessed it. The crowd instinctively stepped back, their eyes wide with terror as they stared at Bao Houdi. Fear was etched into their faces.
“He’s truly merciless.”
Zhuang Xing found himself reassessing Bao Houdi. If Bao Houdi could be so heartless with his own disciples, Zhuang Xing knew he would fare no better. The thought of falling into Bao Houdi’s hands was too grim to contemplate.
“Phantom Step.”
Zhuang Xing advanced, his form multiplying into a myriad of shadows. Four shadows burst forth, darting in every direction.
The Phantom Step was a secret technique of movement he had mastered, allowing him to create numerous illusions of himself and disperse simultaneously, confounding his pursuers.
”You won’t escape,” Bao Houdi roared, his palm unleashing a devastating blow. A formidable energy radiated outward, obliterating the illusions as they stood no chance against his might.
But the destruction of the shadows brought Bao Houdi no pleasure, for Zhuang Xing was not among them.
“I’ll flay you and dismantle your bones to avenge my son,” Bao Houdi bellowed, his rage boiling over. “What are you waiting for? Chase him down!”
”Yes, Sect Master!”
Zhuang Xing dashed through the woods, directionless in his flight.
Hot on his heels, Bao Houdi and the Celestial Eagle Gang’s disciples and elders pursued relentlessly. Their hatred for Zhuang Xing was bone-deep; they would not rest until they had exacted their revenge for their fallen comrades.
“Bao Houdi is right behind me, and he’s too fast. I can’t shake him. What am I going to do?”
Zhuang Xing, despite his exceptional talent, was at a disadvantage with his weaker cultivation level. He had only reached Spirit Wheel Stage Level Four Heaven, while Bao Houdi was a formidable Spirit Sea Stage Expert. The chasm in their powers was vast. No matter how mystical or potent his Magic Spell, it couldn’t bridge the vast divide in their cultivation. In a test of strength, Zhuang Xing knew he would meet a brutal end.
Therefore, his sole hope at the moment was to make a swift escape, and the farther he could get, the better.
