Why would I care
Why would I care
"Did he just?" The rude man asked in shock before walking up to the shack and banging on the door shouting.
"YOU UNGRATEFUL PIECE OF TRASH, DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO YOU JUST SLAMMED YOUR DOOR IN THE FACE OFF?"
No response came from the shack and the man was about to rage again when Sarah said.
"Stop."
Before she could continue John reemerged from his shack this time topless showing off his chest and ignoring the pair as he walked around to the side of the shack where the mirror and wash basin were.
Sarah could not respond to John's sudden appearance of being topless and her eyes could not help but wander over his chiseled chest.
As John reached the water basin, he saw the rat in it before sighing and mumbling.
"Even now they can play Genesis, they're still doing this crap."
After saying that he picked up the basin and went to dump it on a heap before going to draw more water from the well.
As if woken from hearing his words Sarah asked.
"Do you know who left you that?"
"Oh, you saw that? or were you snooping around before I got back?" John replied slightly accusingly making Sarah embarrassed again but he did not seem to care and continued.
"If I had to guess it's Dean and his cronies from my class, before Genesis I used to get one every couple of days along with a message."
"Message?" Sarah asked
John didn't reply and just pointed at the ground near the mirror where his birthday message was still fairly visible even after a month because of the lack of rain recently.

"Happy birthday ratshack" Sarah read with disgust.
"Ha, I get it, that's clever." Said the rude man.
At this John just turned his back on the pair and spoke.
"I suggest you both leave, I'm afraid I won't see you off."
Sarah was surprised that someone was actually dismissing her that was not the empress, it had to be known that not even her parents could dismiss her now.
"You ungrateful swine..." the rude man started but before he could say more
"STOP" Sarah ordered in a loud voice.
"But miss." The man tried to complain.
"I said stop, you have no idea what is going on here and every time you open your mouth you are making things worse, now go back to the car and wait there." Sarah said in a cold voice.
The man did not dare to disobey and after staring daggers at John he left.
"My apologies about him, it seems I made a mistake hiring him."
"It seems you have poor judgment when it comes to men." John commented before picking up his now refilled water basin and heading back to the mirror.
"Excuse me?" Sarah asked, surprised.
"Well, there's that guy" John said while pointing at the man over his shoulder
"Then there is your ex-boyfriend who cheated on you with another woman in your own bed."
"What else could that be, but you being a bad judge of men." John answered.
"So, you knew who I was?" Sarah asked curiously.
"Only after that rude guy said about Blue Ice Queen."
"Then why did you pretend not to know?"
"Two reasons." John answered before continuing.
"First to test yours and his reactions if I made a jab at you about your ex cheating on you."
"Second, to see if you would still be polite after I made that jab, and when you thought I did not know anything about you."
"But why?" Sarah asked.
"Because I don't believe you are who you say you are."
"Why not?
"What would Sarah Lapis, the human race's most famous and popular female player, be doing in the slums of a random city." John explained before continuing
"Not to mention you're the niece of the current empress of the human race."
"You sure know a lot, not everyone knows I am the empress's niece."
John asked a question as a way to respond.
"When you're at school and you're being bullied, where do you go that the bullies hate?"
"I don't know, where do you go?"
"The library, spend enough time in there and you can learn a lot of things and the family lineage of the Royal Family is just one of the things I read."

Back in Genesis the four women were impressed that John knew who Sarah really was, as Sarah had said not many people knew who she was because it was not something that was openly advertised.
"This boy is getting more and more impressive; I must say your city officials are a bunch of idiots for making an enemy out of such a boy." Silver Queen stated.
"I agree, I just hope his enmity does not run too deep." Fire Empress admitted with a sigh.

"So, what else can I do for you and Tia, although it's rare for me to get visitors, I am afraid I need to sleep soon as I am busy again tomorrow."
Sarah was about to respond when Tia's voice came from Sarah's access band and a small holographic image of her appeared.
"John Michaels, I have some further questions for you that I wish answered."
"And if I don't want to answer them?" John asked in return.
"Failing to assist me in my investigation will increase the punishment the human race is set to receive." Tia advised.
"And?" John said simply.
***
There was silence in the isolation room as no one knew how to respond to that, even Tia was at a loss for a moment.
"Are you saying you don't care about the punishment the human race receives in Genesis?" Tia asked.
"Why would I care about the human race when they have done nothing for me?" John replied before continuing.
"Why would I care when no human has ever shown me any care?"
"Why would I care when the money I am apparently supposed to receive from the HUMAN government never comes?"
"Why would I care when the same government that is supposed to support me instead tries to poison me?"
"Why would I care when I am forced to be the only person in this damn city that lives in the slums in a wooden shack that barely protects me from the elements?
"Why would I care when my school mates bully me any chance they get and leave dead rats in my washing basin?"
"Why would I care when the teachers that are supposed to support and guide me ignore my very existence and act as if I am not there?
"Why would I care when I expect this person in front of me is only here because she is going to receive something from you?"
