94 Chapter 0094
After having a healthy meeting with my family and giving them gifts, I gave mom money to buy the house she was currently renting. As far as money was concerned, it should be priced a bit below $300,000.
Due to the current value of Salt Lake County and everything else, even this small 1 BHK apartment costs that much money. I had transferred $400,000 to her account, and unlike last time, this time she didn't refuse the money.
It was like last time she was worried that I had a stroke of luck and that I shouldn't be wasting the money that I had gotten, but this time around, she was really happy and agreed to take in the money. After all, she was already getting wrinkles and was continuously stressed about many things, having her own apartment would lift a lot of burden off of her.
After taking care of everything in the family, I went to a driving school to register for a driver's licence. I pretty much knew how to drive, given my obsession with cars, but it was still a legal procedure that I had to take care of in order to ride Scarlett's Desert Scorpion.
I had made an FD of $1 million dollars and kept the remaining money, which totalled around $2.8 million dollars. Previously, I could have never imagined making so much money from a game. After all, only top rankers make so much money, the rest are barely able to collect chump change like I used to.
I ended up getting my driving licence two hours later. The process was relatively smooth, all I had to do was fill out some e-documents and give an exam on a VR driving device, which I easily cleared and gained a TR licence. TR licences were better than other licences in which one could drive any medium to the large-sized vehicle as long as they passed the exam.
The only exceptions in these were aeroplanes and merchant/cruise ships.
'I don't need a licence for them anyways.'
I shrugged and entered the high-end mall. It was a mall by another conglomerate group called Viviana Group.
I went to the fashion and style section. Seeing my cheap t-shirts and pants, the employee of the store tried her best to hide her frown. As if she was worried that I might have entered the wrong shop by mistake.
'What? You aren't going to outright call out to me and throw me out of your shop because I look poor? Know your cliches!'
I felt a bit disappointed that I didn't get the golden opportunity to flex my money in my poor outfits as the employee actually guided me from one fashion area to another, telling me what was in trend and what would suit my look.
"These are some of our budget fashion, although even the lowest is still around $500. If you don't like anything here or if it's above your budget, let me know and I'll ask someone to guide you to the best budget store in the mall. Even I personally buy clothes from there."
The girl employee, who looked to be the same age as me with red hair, calmly explained and showed me products while telling me about some budget products and stores without trying to sound cocky.
'Holy mother of god. These web novels have really ruined my brain! To think I was expecting such an angel to turn out to be a young master! My brain has truly been corrupted.'

"Don't worry about my budget and show me some clothes that I can casually wear on a daily basis. Oh, also a few for dates."
I said as I rubbed the back of my head embarrassedly.
"Oh? I have just the thing for you sir. Please try on these red hoodies. Also this black turtleneck shirt. And this, ah and for dates, these would look really good since you have a very good-looking face."
After hearing that budget wasn't a problem, she cheerfully turned here and there, picking up clothes left and right and showing me one by one.
In the end, I ended up buying at least 15 pairs of clothes and a few pairs of underwear.
When I was checking out, the girl happily hummed and swiped my debit card on the card swiping machine, happy that she had made a big sale today.
"Ah…no…sir this…"
Her happy face turned blue suddenly as she felt like her soul would leave her body.
"What happened?"
She looked at me warily, as she said.
"The card got declined, it says insufficient balance. I even tried with just $100 dollars, it's still showing that."
She looked at me, almost on the verge of tears. Turned out this poor-looking bloke was indeed a poor bloke… Where is justice in the world? Didn't someone great say that being good would always bring good to you?
"Ahahah! I am sorry, I ended up giving my old card to you. That was my debit card when I was a student years ago. I had totally forgotten I still had it on me. It should also be expiring by now. Anyways, here, try this."
I said as I took out my new card. I had brought out the old card on purpose to tease the lady but didn't imagine she'd become this lifeless.
The girl swiped the other card without any hope, and after a while, her face lit up.
"Ah! It worked! Yes!"
The girl formed a fist with her hands and hurrayed as if she had won a lottery. I took out my small screener device and scanned the QR attached to the counter, and paid a thousand bucks.
That was the QR solely meant for tipping employees that were in charge of the counter. I wanted to give more than a thousand, but I didn't want to seem like a creep who's suspiciously giving away free money, and neither was I spendthrift enough to not care about thousands of bucks.
"Thank you, sir. Thank you so much for the tip. It really means a lot, my mother is quite sick these days. This would definitely help."
What?
Had I avoided the young master trope to end up with a sick mother trope? I haven't signed for this shit!
I immediately said my farewell to the employee girl and picked up all the bags as I ran away without looking back.

After Flynn left the store, the girl stared confusedly for a while. After making sure Flynn was really gone, her confused expression turned into a sly one as she clicked on the earpiece in her ears.
—-How was it? Did it go smoothly?
A middle-aged yet powerful voice came from the earpiece, and the girl made a huge grin.
"It went well, dad. I scanned his skreener device, it's definitely Zephyr."
—-We finally found him!
The man on the phone said excitedly. He had been looking for the failed metahuman for almost a decade now but to no avail. To think that he was finally able to find him.
He had to go through so much just to find out who had adopted Zephyr, but in the end, it was all worth it.
"What are you planning now, dad?"
The girl who was smiling widely a few moments ago suddenly asked in a serious voice.
—-What do you think? Is he aware of the reality yet?
"I am sure he's still unaware. He had been living a peaceful life for too long. He hadn't noticed yet."
—-Then let's wait. We already have a grip on him now, so we can silently observe from the sidelines. He has already started walking in the right direction, even if it was a mere coincidence. This competition is going to be so much fun.
The girl who heard her dad's words couldn't help but smile bitterly. The world was still unaware of the shit that was about to happen to it.

"Are you just going to eat? We planned this date to get used to each other and lessen this awkwardness."
Scarlett said with a deadpan face. Currently, she and I were inside the White Ruby hotel, a 5-star hotel in Delta city, on a date.
It was something I had agreed to, but it wasn't my fault that the food was so tasty!
—-Munch Munch!
"Yeah. Yu aa right! Tu bhe honest, I daunt pheel that awqwaq. Ii jss we ave non eech other fo a lil taaim"
(Human translation: Yeah, You are right! To be honest, I don't feel that awkward. It's just we have known each other for a little time.)
I said as I ate the heavenly cheese macaroni continuously. Who would have thought that money could actually increase the taste of such a simple food?
"Oh my god. At least don't talk when your mouth is so stuffed."
Scarlett rolled her eyes and looked at me, thinking why was she even stuck with such a guy.
—-Burp!
I burped and cleaned my mouth with a tissue before speaking.
"I am sorry, I got a little carried away since I haven't been having proper food these days, but damn that was good. My girlfriend surely knows how to take care of her boyfriend."
"Of course, I do. But how long do I have to take care of you before we start taking care of each other? Because I've two-three months at best before that jerk comes and annoys my parents for an engagement at least."
"Eh? Three months? I promise you, when he knows that you're my girlfriend in three months, he won't have the guts to even open his mouth, forget about asking for an engagement. Happy?"
I said confidently. I had my own reasons for being so confident, but most of it was just to assure Scarlett that the money that she was spending on me won't be in vain.
"Hah? Really!… I wonder where your confidence stems from. But I'll put my faith in you for now. Remember if I end up becoming the wife of some shit second generation just because my dad wants to enter the steel business….. I'll be sure to guide my shit husband into making your life miserable."
Scarlett threatened, which almost seemed like a cat trying to growl like a lion. After all, she wasn't even able to say it properly, forget about doing it.
