My Divine Pet System

Chapter 27

C27 – Iron Woods

In an instant, everyone aboard the helicopter, students and teachers alike, were petrified by the unexpected twist of fate.

Yet it was Hai Yunxing who snapped out of it first, his voice laced with urgency, “Han, please, think this through—don’t do anything rash!”

With that, Fu Tian yanked Ji Buyu back, tossing him aside with an icy glare.

“Don’t let me hear another peep from you,” Fu Tian warned, his voice icy.

Ji Buyu was visibly shaken, slumping to the ground. Once he regained his composure, he dusted himself off and silently made his way back to his seat.

Ji Buyu then cast a bitter glance at Qin Hongyu and the others, but he kept his mouth shut, no longer daring to taunt them.

Half an hour later, the group finally reached the outskirts of the Iron Woods.

As soon as the helicopter touched down, Ji Buyu leaped out first. With a backward glance filled with defiance, he sneered, “You’ll regret crossing me!”

Fu Tian made a move as if to chase after him, causing Ji Buyu to bolt, vanishing from sight in a heartbeat.

“He’s nothing but a jumping jack,” Qin Hongyu said, holding Fu Tian back. “Don’t stoop to his level.”

“I was only trying to scare him a bit. Do you guys have bad blood?” asked Fu Tian, his smile tinged with naivety.

“It’s hardly worth mentioning—just a minor squabble. I did make him streak through our middle school once, so maybe he holds a grudge,” Qin Hongyu admitted with an awkward scratch of his head, speaking softly.

Fu Tian stopped in his tracks, dumbfounded.

‘A minor squabble?’ he thought.

“Students, we’re approaching the Iron Woods. Please, everyone, follow me down,” Teacher Hai announced.

With that, all the students disembarked from the helicopter, following their teacher’s lead.

“It’s no wonder they call it the Iron Woods—this is absolutely magnificent!” exclaimed the first student to jump out, awestruck.

Before them lay a vast forest, but unlike any ordinary woodland, it was encased by an immense metal net that wrapped around its entirety.

The expanse of the Iron Woods was impressive, and from within, the occasional bizarre roar could be heard.

Welcome to the Iron Woods, a vast forest cordoned off by the Battle Spirit Alliance to keep Demon Beasts from endangering society. They’ve installed a special metallic electric fence around it for protection. You may now enter, but be quick about it,” Teacher Hai instructed, after tallying the student count with a stern voice.

Immediately, the students started to form teams. Qin Hongyu, Fu Tian, and Bo Miaojiao naturally banded together.

The other candidates eagerly sought out formidable teammates. Since Qin Hongyu’s trio were all from Class D, no one else volunteered to join them.

“Once you’re ready, let’s set off!” Teacher Hai urged.

With that, the group scattered, each person heading excitedly toward the entrance of the Iron Woods.

As Qin Hongyu’s group was about to depart, Teacher Hai called out to them, “Inside, you must be cautious of the Demon Beasts, but also of the other examinees. Good luck to you all!”

“Thank you for the warning, Teacher. We’ll be sure to stay vigilant,” Qin Hongyu responded with a grateful smile.

He grasped the subtext of Teacher Hai’s advice: to watch out for other examinees who might maliciously snatch their Spiritual Cards. Indeed, Director Li hadn’t forbidden such actions.

Teacher Hai’s specific warning to him was probably because he had noticed the tension between Qin Hongyu and Ji Buyu, hinting that he should especially beware of Ji Buyyu.
