My Divine Pet System

Chapter 31

C31 – Card Fusion

“Little White Tower, are you referring to my battle spirit?” Qin Hongyu asked, his face etched with confusion.

Wasn’t his Serpent Spirit named Little White? Since when had it become Little White Tower?

“Didn’t you just say we’d rely on my Little White Tower from now on? Or did I mishear?” Fu Tian echoed the confusion.

“Little White Tower it is, then! It has a nice ring to it,” Qin Hongyu conceded.

He had named his battle spirit Whitey due to its snow-white appearance, but with Fu Tian’s misunderstanding, he figured he might as well embrace the new name.

The name Little White was quite common, after all, and he was likely to run into another battle spirit with the same name eventually, which could lead to an awkward situation.

He couldn’t imagine both of them calling out to their battle spirits as Little White—the spirits themselves would probably be just as bewildered!

“Little one, your name is Little White Tower from now on, got it?” Qin Hongyu said with a smile, gently stroking the Serpent Spirit on his arm, which flicked its tongue in acknowledgment.

“Since Fu insists, this Spiritual Card is yours, Hongyu!” Bo Miaojiao said, handing over the card without hesitation.

Qin Hongyu accepted the Spiritual Card graciously, knowing that during the assessment, boosting everyone’s combat strength to secure more cards was paramount.

[Host has acquired two Gray Iron Rank Spiritual Cards. They can be fused into a Bronze Rank Spiritual Card. Proceed with fusion?]

Suddenly, a familiar synthesized voice echoed in Qin Hongyu’s mind.

“What’s this? Two Gray Iron Rank cards can become a Bronze Rank? Is this another ability of the system?” Qin Hongyu marveled internally.

Despite the thrill, he resisted the urge to fuse the cards immediately. During the assessment, presenting a Bronze Rank Spiritual Card might raise suspicions of cheating, especially since the Iron Woods were not known to harbor middle-class Demon Beasts capable of dropping such a card.

“No!” he decided without hesitation.

“Hongyu, we should set off and hunt for the next Demon Beast,” Bo Miaojiao suggested, glancing at the time.

They had been trekking through the Iron Woods for an hour and a half, and while they had managed to secure a Spiritual Card, they couldn’t deny the role of luck in their find. No one could guarantee such fortune on a subsequent attempt.

“Alright, let’s get moving and track down a Demon Beast. We’ve got to ace this assessment!” Qin Hongyu declared with unwavering confidence.

“Hold on a sec!” Fu Tian interjected.

“What’s up, Fu?” Qin Hongyu inquired, puzzled.

“I’m starting to feel a bit peckish,” Fu Tian admitted with a sheepish grin.

“You know, now that you mention it, I’m feeling hungry too. But I don’t think we brought any food with us,” Qin Hongyu remarked, rubbing his temple.

“How can you say we have no food? We just took down that Screeching Hedgehog, remember? It even conveniently shed its spines for us. We can eat that!” Fu Tian pointed out.

With that, Fu Tian strode over to the fallen Screeching Hedgehog, pulled out his military knife, and casually sliced off a chunk of meat.

“Your fire spirit is seriously impressive. It cooked the meat perfectly, sparing us the hassle of starting a fire!” Qin Hongyu exclaimed, taking a hearty bite and lavishing praise.
