Chapter 40
C40 – Meteor Stab!
The Scorpion Spirit was catapulted away by the immense recoil, its sharp stinger now bent out of shape, rendering it unable to deliver its venom for some time.
Meanwhile, the Tortoise Spirit’s shell bore only a faint scratch, barely visible unless examined closely.
Seizing the moment, Qin Hongyu summoned the Serpent Spirit and sat down to meditate, gathering his strength.
Pei Wencheng was utterly flabbergasted, exploding in anger, “You fool! Why go after that timid tortoise? Take out the Serpent Spirit first!”
The Scorpion Spirit emitted a sound of distress.

“What’s that? The tortoise insulted you, and you just had to retaliate?” Pei Wencheng listened intently, his face a picture of disbelief, before probing further, “What exactly did it say? Couldn’t you have waited until after we dealt with that little worm before striking?”
Communication between a Battle Spirit and a Battle Spirit Fighter was possible, though to outsiders, their interaction was indistinguishable from the growls of a wild beast.
The Scorpion Spirit gestured wildly with its large claws, as if trying to convey a message.
“What? It called me, your master, a skinny monkey and a short pumpkin?!” Pei Wencheng’s face twisted with rage, his eyes nearly shooting flames, as he bellowed, “I want that timid tortoise dead!”
Being called skinny monkey and short pumpkin was his greatest pet peeve, a sore point about his physical stature. At sixteen, standing only 1.45 meters tall, he was noticeably shorter than his peers.
“Bro, take it easy! Focus on the Serpent Spirit! If it regains its Spiritual Energy, we’re done for!” Ji Buyu pleaded, on the verge of tears.
“Don’t hold me back! I’m going to crush that timid tortoise for insulting me! Scorpion Spirit, smash the Tortoise Spirit’s shell!” Pei Wencheng had lost all reason, shouting furiously.
The Scorpion Spirit charged once more at “Rip,” but against the Tortoise Spirit’s armored form, its now-crooked stinger was utterly ineffective.
“Are you finished yet, or are you just trying to tickle me?” Fu Tian yawned, his boredom evident.
“Come on, if you’re so capable, break through my defense. I dare you. I’ll just stay put and infuriate you!” Fu Tian said with a smirk, arms folded.
“I’ve had it! Scorpion Spirit, unleash the Meteor Spike!” Pei Wencheng roared in rage.
The Scorpion Spirit’s massive pincers and sinuous tail began to pick up speed, attacking faster and faster until all that remained was a blur of motion.
“Now this is getting interesting. Rip, deploy the Earth Elemental Shield!” Fu Tian commanded, a slight smile playing on his lips.
The relentless assault, once mitigated by the Earth Elemental Shield, couldn’t even scratch “Rip.”
“Zhen Chu, take this chance to go after Qin Hongyu. If that kid gets his Spiritual Energy back, we’re done for!” Ji Buyu murmured covertly to the man in blue beside him.
“Attack the Battle Spirit Fighter directly? My Frog Spirit’s high-pressure water blast is no laughing matter. What if it kills him? Remember, this is just an assessment; we don’t need to escalate things this far!” Liu Tuo responded, his brow furrowed with worry.
“What’s there to fear? If anything goes wrong, I’ll handle it. And if you don’t follow my lead, I’ll have my uncle demote you to Class C. You know full well the difference between the classes!” Ji Buyu sneered with a threatening tone.
