Chapter 88 Augh . . . Who’s Sleeping With Who?
After dinner, we assigned rooms for everyone.
My bedroom was quite spacious, so the three girls were set to sleep there. In consideration of Megu's child, I did suggest that she slept in Florin's room, but the other two girls vehemently disagreed, saying that it would be unfair for Florin to have her room taken away.
I didn't really get it since they didn't think it was unfair for me to lose my room. Not that I minded.
Perhaps they were just uncomfortable having Florin around. After all, she had acted intimidatingly earlier, and they would probably be too scared to sleep if she was in the same room as them.
I did have reservations about the whole idea and insisted on my initial suggestion, just in case they get woken up by a child's cry in the middle of the night.
But they were okay with it since they were already used to Megu and her child.
As for the guys, they would be sleeping downstairs by the fireplace.
As for me, I was going to sleep in the empty room left. Anyway, the room was so tiny that it couldn't possibly fit all of them.
I was pretty sure that the wooden planks by the fireplace were at least more comfortable than the cold hard ground outside.
<Host should claim his rightful place by the women's side.>
Stop! Don't give me any more funny ideas! Once was enough!
The moment I lay on the bed, I felt like I could just fall asleep.
Having company in the house wasn't so bad. Now I know why they called humans social creatures.

This was the happiest day I've had since I got here. Well, second, actually, since the happiest was when I found Soarsie.
At the thought of her, I rolled on my back and looked over the ceiling with my arms covering my eyes.
I missed her, but what she did keep replaying in my mind. Although I didn't blame her, I would be lying if I said that I wasn't hurt. I was disappointed and heartbroken at what she did.
A sigh escaped my lips as I rolled to my side and curled like a ball, thinking of the good days back on earth.
I miss my family and friends. I miss my crappy job and my even crappier apartment. I miss the simple things and even the annoying things in life as well.
It was hard to live on earth, but it was not as hard as living here.
The only thing that kept me going was the thought that I would be reunited with my family again one day, even if it meant that I had to go through hell before then.
I closed my eyes and tried to sleep but couldn't. My mind wouldn't stop thinking about the past or the future and even what I could do to get out of this mess. However, the more I thought about it, the more frustrated I became.
<It's only harder because Host is resisting the call of evilness. Let it go, and everything you want, you'll get with a snap of your hands.>
Stop talking to me, and let me rest in my peaceful dreams.
That didn't happen, as the System continued to be annoying until I fell asleep.

Late at night, when everyone was asleep, Edgar woke up.
He double-checked whether Ford and Brago were in a deep sleep before pushing himself up from the floor and looked at his surroundings.
Seeing that the coast was clear, he tiptoed to the kitchen with careful steps.
He was still hungry, and the kitchen was like a food storage for him to pillage. What's more, he could store anything in his inventory as long as it was not a living thing.
The dried goodies hanging on the ceilings and the jars on the shelves would serve as great snacks whenever he felt hungry.
Back on earth, food wasn't an issue, and they were readily available in all flavors, so he took them for granted. But here, food was so expensive that it didn't make any sense.
They were readily available after killing beasts, but the cooking proficiency must be high enough first before he could eat anything that wasn't burnt.
What's more, the beasts here were vicious creatures, and with one wrong move, he could get killed. Edgar wasn't going to risk his life for something like that when he could get it for free.
It was dark inside, and the only light sources available were the fireplace and the twin moons outside. With what little light he could work with, Edgar made his way to the kitchen.
He was only a meter away from the archway to the kitchen when a shadow suddenly popped over him.
"GyaAargH!" he screamed. His high-pitched voice caused Ford and Brago's snores to hitch. But despite his loud shriek, they were fortunately not dragged out from their dreamland.
"Is there something you need?"
Edgar panted and caught his breath when he realized that it was just Florin's beautiful, yet creepy face that spooked him.
"Oh." Edgar panted and took quick, calming breaths. "It's only you."
Florin beamed, but as usual, Edgar only felt perturbed.
Florin was cute, but it was frightening to have her around. It was like she was a doll that could kill him in his sleep.
"Do you need something?" Florin repeated.
"Ah . . ." Edgar didn't know what to say now that he was caught red-handed. "Agh . . . just . . . going to get some water. I'm thirsty."
"Is that so?" Florin went into the kitchen with impressive ease under the darkness.
It only took her ten seconds before she was back in front of Edgar, holding a glass of water.
Edgar gulped it down, but then he had to ask, "What are you doing here . . . again?"
Florin tilted her head to the side, eyes unblinking. "Me? I also went down to get some water."
Why didn't he notice anything? Not even her footsteps. Edgar was wide awake the entire night, but he didn't hear any sound.
That only added to his fear. Florin was a player, and she was also transported here months before him, so she was, without a doubt, stronger than he was.
In fact, Florin might be the strongest player inside the house.
Edgar nodded, unsure what else to do. He looked around to pass the time, trying to come up with something to say. He was waiting for Florin to go up, so he could continue his plan, but it seemed like no matter how long he waited, it would be futile.
The silence stretched on for a while until Edgar spoke, "W-well then . . . I'm going back to sleep. Thanks for the water."
Edgar quickly gave the half-empty glass to Florin and zoomed back to the fireplace.
