Chapter 713 - The Past I
Chapter 713 - The Past I
When they returned to the Xian Residence, Old Man Xian was already sitting in the wheelchair the hospital prepared. Since it was inconvenient for him to move around, Nanny Cheng arranged for a servant to push the chair.
When Xian Guiying walked into the bedroom where the children were, the moment she walked in the door, she saw the Old Man sitting on a wheelchair in the middle of the bedroom, watching the children. Qin Wenqian and Xian An Na hugged the Old Man's legs and called out together, "Grandfather ~"
The Old Man couldn't even close his mouth as he stretched out his hand to caress their little faces. Because he had never seen Qin Wenqian before, his hand lingered on her face for a little longer. His old and hazy eyes were filled with love.
Xian Guiying didn't expect her daughter to be so happy at home these two days. Qin Wenqian had a big smile on her face as she hugged the Old Man with Xian An Na. It seemed like she was not afraid of living alone anymore.
She walked over, hugged Qin Wenqian, and said with a smile, "You can't call him grandfather, you have to call him great-grandfather."
"Why?" Qin Wenqian blinked her eyes and asked, "They all call him grandfather."
"Haha, whatever she called me is good enough. Anyway, she's my great-granddaughter!" Old Man Xian smiled happily and even spoke a little more clearly. He turned his head and leisurely asked Chiahao. "Chiahao, why can't she call me grandpa?"
"I don't know." Xian Chiahao also looked at the adult in front of him in confusion.
"Silly child ~" The Old Man patted their heads before looking at Qin Wenqian, who had already been carried by Xian Guiying. "This child is called Qin Wenqian, right?"

"Yes."
"What a good name. Who named it? It's Qin Gengxin?"
Xian Guiying knew that the Old Man Xian wanted to know if her relationship with Qin Gengxin was really that good. She hesitated for a moment before she smiled and said, "I named her. He has no objections."
Her words were flawless, and the Old Man nodded his head, "Good to hear."
"Grandfather, you have just been discharged from the hospital. You will feel uncomfortable sitting in the wheelchair for a long time, so you should go back to your room to rest."
"I'm not tired. The doctor told me to sit up if I could and try to walk for a few steps; only then can I recover. If I stay lying down, then I'll really be lying on the bed waiting for death." After saying that, the Old Man looked at Qin Wenqian, who was in Xian Guiying's arms with a smile. "This child, she really looks like you and Qin Gengxin."
"I hope that Old Woman, for the sake of such a cute child, won't reject you two too much." Old Man Xian said in a lowered voice, almost as if he was sighing.
His words, however, caused Xian Guiying to be stunned. It also caused Qin Gengxin, who was just about to enter the room, to stop in his tracks.
Xian Guiying actually didn't want the Old Man to recall any unhappy memories, but when he mentioned this, she could not refrain from looking at him and asking, "Grandfather, do you have something to say to me?"
Old Man Xian was silent for a moment. He looked at the child in her arms, then turned around and looked at the door of the bedroom.
Qin Gengxin knew that the Old Man had noticed him, so he walked inside calmly. "Mom said that dad is coming back soon, so she told us to bring the child downstairs. You carry Qianqian, and I'll push grandpa downstairs."
"I can't go down for now. My own son often sees me, but for his granddaughter, he seems to need many years to finally be able to see her." As he said this, the Old Man looked at Xian Guiying. "Give the child to Qin Gengxin. Guiying, you and I will go to the study room."
Xian Guiying looked at Qin Gengxin. Seeing that he didn't have much of an expression on his face, she hesitated for a moment. Qin Gengxin went towards her to carry the child.
"Daddy ~" A few days ago, Qin Wenqian wasn't used to this kind of life where her parents often stayed by her side. These days, her parents didn't come back from the hospital, and now seeing Qin Gengxin again, she immediately burst into laughter as she hugged his neck tightly. "Daddy, Chiahao told me that his parents will take him and An Na to the beach to make a sandcastle. I want to go too!"
"Alright, daddy will arrange it immediately. We will go to the beach later, okay?" Qin Gengxin smiled and kissed her hair.
Xian Guiying kept looking at him. Qin Gengxin raised his eyebrow and said, "Accompany grandpa to the study room. I'll take the child with me."
He did not stay any longer and directly went out the door.
When her grandfather was about to hit her with his walking stick, Qin Genxin had entered the ancestral hall amiably in time. He had driven into the Xian Family's courtyard, rushed into the ancestral hall, and kicked open the door.
At that time, his attitude towards her grandfather had been indifferent. Xian Guiying thought that he was just angry at her, but later on, she found out that he actually cared so much about her. If she wasn't pregnant, maybe she and Qin Gengxin wouldn't get married.
But this time, at least for her sake, he was working hard to be a good son-in-law. He didn't want to bring up too many matters, but Xian Guiying could feel that Qin Gengxin was still more or less dissatisfied with the Old Man.
What was the reason?
Xian Guiying pushed the Old Man, who had been silent all this time, towards the study. Just as she was about to leave the bedroom, Jiang Ruolan happened to walk up the stairs, carrying a bag and coming in to say that she had gone shopping with Xiong Ruogang at the Beidou Avenue in the morning. She had gone to a children's clothing store to buy some clothes for Qin Wenqian.
Everyone in the Xian Family knew that it was usually very difficult to get into the Old Man's study. If he called her into the study, either she would be taught a lesson, or she would be punished and would stand like a soldier, or he would have something very important to say.
When pushing the Old Man away, he had been silent and seemed to have something weighing on his mind, so Xian Guiying didn't disturb him. When they entered the study, she heard him say, "Push me to the table."
She pushed him over to the table.
Then, the Old Man raised his hand and gently held her hand. His aged fingers caressed her hand, "My child, do you hate grandpa?"
Xian Guiying immediately laughed, "Grandfather, why would I hate you? It's just that when I was young, I felt that there were some things that you had not done fairly."
"If I tell you this, you might actually hate me." Old Man Xian heaved a long sigh. "I don't want to talk about these things. It's been so many years and I kept telling myself that I want to forget this thing. Maybe I'm getting old and some things really don't occur to me for a moment. But as soon as I was reminded, those long memories came back and haunted me."
