Naval Gacha System: It's Time To Monopolize The Seven Seas!

Chapter 164: | 164 | A Massacre

Hearing the first lieutenant's orders, the operatives stepped forward and stood beside her. They held their guns tightly in their arms, glaring at the rebel beastfolks surrounding them with daunting expressions. Even though surrounded, there was no fear in their eyes.

The only thing in their mind was the situation before them and the orders that Mercedes had given them. Everyone inside the room other than them and the Latran must die. With this in mind, the operatives pointed the barrels of their armaments at the rebel beastfolk, ignorant of its firepower.

Espada furrowed his eyebrows, understanding that things were about to become bloody. But their hastiness was understandable. They needed to be quick in assassinating the rebel leadership, otherwise they would be stuck in a city brimming with rebels.

'I hope that Latran has the information we need.' He quietly thought to himself while also pointing the barrel of his M2 Browning Machine Gun towards the surrounding rebel beastfolks.

On the other hand, Yote, the Latran boss, felt something amiss from the actions of the surrounded enemies before him. Their untamed confidence and bloodlust was affecting the morale of his men. Not wanting them to cower, he immediately yelled out an order.

"Kill them all! Don't give them a chance!" When the rebel beastfolks heard his order, they felt a surged of adrenaline consuming every part of their body. This caused them to move and act upon orders despite their tensed bodies.

"Kill them!"

"Behead all of them!"

"KILL!!!"

Many rebel beastfolks cries out while charging at the SRU 01, or the executers, with their spears aimed at their adversaries. Their roars resounded throughout the hall, like a deafening avalanche of noise. Nonetheless, their battle cries were far from enough in changing the fate that awaited them.

Their footsteps was akin to a stampeding herd of bulls while the unsheathing of some of their swords echoed all throughout. However, despite the vast performance of the rebel beastfolks. Mercedes's expression didn't change, not even for a single moment.

The first lieutenant merely gazed at them with aloofness and soon nodded at their charge. The operatives, seeing the nod of their warrant officer, followed through and pulled the trigger with their firearms pointed at the charging rebel beastfolks.

Flashing lights escaped the confines of their barrels, blinking in and out of existence in mere instantaneous moments. What followed it was a thunderous roar of hundreds of bullets raining down to every direction where the rebel beastfolks stood.

*Brrrrrtttt!*

*BBRRRRRRrrrrtttt!*

*BBBRRRrrrrttttt!*

*BBrrrrttt!*

It was an ear-splitting chaos that would have blown the eardrums of an ordinary man. The rain of lead pierced through the stone-layered walls of the hall, making holes and breaking it apart into damnation. Some pillars in the hall were even met with firepower of the operatives, shattering its many bits.

However, the most unfortunate of all were the rebel beastfolks who had faced the heavy rain of piercing leads head-on. Their bodies burst into several pieces, splattering blood throughout the walls and floor of the hall. They couldn't even cry out for help as they had died instantaneously.

Mercedes coldly observed her operatives exterminate every beastfolk in their vicinity. Even though the threat was no long there, her orders resounded in their mind. Not a single one except for the Latran must remain alive.

"Quite a sight." She muttered to herself, somewhat disappointed of the rebels that had stabbed them in the back. They would have created their own country without a problem. Though, naturally, it must have the values of the United Navy.

Otherwise, the United Navy would be creating its own troublesome problems in its backyard.

It didn't take long before things calmed down. The operatives stopped firing at the direction before them, bringing tranquility in the hall. There was no one other than the SRU, and the Latran. Most have met their end, laying in the floor as corpses.

While the executers of the United Navy observed the results of their massacre, the hiding Latran felt horror from what had happened beforehand. The sound of thunder blasting in thousands within his ears while his men's bodies exploded into bits.

It was quite a horrifying sight.

"H-How did they kill so many in such a short amount of time? What are they? Reapers?" Yote mumbled to himself while behind a pillar. He was confident of their ambush against them. With their adversaries surrounded, even if some of them would die, they would still be able to win.

Sadly, such a strategy couldn't work its complete potential against the firepower of the United Navy. It was simply too much. The firepower of modern weaponry wasn't something that could be outnumbered.

"I need t-to run! I'll die if I try to fight them!" Naturally, despite his loyalty to the rebellion, Yote didn't want to end up a mincemeat like his subordinates. No one would want to die such a horrific way. Even those burying them would be terrified by the state the corpses were in.

However, before he could move a single muscle of his body, the calm words of Mercedes resounded throughout the silent hall shrouded with cold corpses. "Reveal yourself, Latran. If you don't want to die like them, I suggest you surrender."

"If not, you'll meet a more horrific fate than your subordinates." It was a warning to the Latran who was about to escape. In front of a bullet, there was no escaping. It was improbable for normal creatures to escape it.

Hearing the words of the first lieutenant, the Latran boss felt chills inside his spine. His mind wanted him to run away as fast as possible, but his instincts were telling him something else. He must follow her suggestion if he didn't want to die a worse death.

Surrounding in all sides by troublesome walls of circumstance, Yote knew that his choices were limited to but one if he desired for survival. Through this thought process, he slowly stepped out of the pillar he was hiding on.

He looked forward and finally saw the appearances of their adversaries. It was at this moment that he opened his mouth widely. He was shocked as what was before him was far beyond his expectations.

It was merely impossible.

"Why do you look so astounded, Latran? Does our appearances look hideous to you?" Mercedes raised an eyebrow and smirked at the empty handed Latran. From the looks of it, the beastfolk was smart. As expected of the cowardly instigator of the ambush.

Her operatives moved forward with their guns aimed at the head of the Latran. They slowly surrounded him, cautious of every movements of his body. It wouldn't be a surprise if a terrorist had some hidden bomb in their body.

Their instructors had told them about their experience in handling such deviants. They were maddened bastards who were suicidal as a depressed middle-aged man who got divorced and lost his job at the same day.

Yote gulped since it felt as though a guillotine was hanging above his head. One wrong move would spell his death, so not wanting to die, he questioned what they wanted from him. "W-What do you want from me?"

The edges of Mercedes's lips rose as she responded with a smile. "What we want is simple. You'll bring us to where your leader is. Once we confirmed his identity, we'll let you off scot-free."

"You treasure your life don't you? I suggest you to follow our demands if you want to live." She continued, her words was akin to a devil's temptation.

"I-I can't just betray the leader! He'll kill me once he finds out!" Yote yelled out since his death would be sealed if he dared to betray the rebel leader. Dozens of rebels would be sent after him to take his head.

Hearing the words of the Latran, Mercedes coldly squinted her eyes and reminded the foolish one. "Don't let me remind you of your circumstance, Latran. Your life is in our hands, remember that. Besides, use your brain a little."

"Ask yourself, why are we searching for your leader? Our objective is fairly simple. I'm sure someone as smart as you could understand that." She expounded some information to the Latran. But someone knowing the objective of their mission wasn't detrimental to the mission itself.

The moment he heard her. Yote had finally realized why these guys intruded the city despite it overflowing with over a thousand of rebels. They were hunting the rebel leader, planning to kill him to behead the serpent known as the rebellion.

Upon this realization, the Latran felt doom looming over his head. The United Navy wasn't to be underestimated. They had previously thought that such people would be too lenient when facing them. But they had tested the patience of a lion.

Now, they would be mauled by it to the death.

"Answer her, Latran. If you want to live that is." Espada stepped forward, glaring at the Latran boss. The smell of blood permeated in the air, but he wasn't that much bothered by it as war had always been bloody.

Yote was losing confidence over the rebellion by the moment. The more he thought about it, the more he felt they would have no chance against the adversary before them. Not only that, there was also the remains of the colonial military scattered about.

Since the beginning, they were merely in-between the battle of two monsters. They had thought of themselves too arrogantly of their status in the battlefield.

After thinking about it, the Latran boss gazed at the first lieutenant of the SRU 01. He gulped while his limbs tensed. There was only one move for him to survive. "I-I will lead you to him." When he uttered such words, he felt a weight lifted over his shoulders.

It was easier than he had previously thought.

"Good, I hope you won't disappoint." Mercedes merely grinned at him, her thoughts unknown to the Latran.
