Chapter 77: Introducing Mello
Chapter 77: Introducing Mello
Thea then started thinking about the way to summon it.
'Hmmm, how do I do this? Do I just chant 'summon Death Shepherd', 'come forth Death Shepherd', 'emerge Death Shepherd'?' Thea thought, but before she could continue brainstorming, a searing pain came from her back which then funneled to her shoulder, then arm before it was at her finger.
As Thea's arms were exposed with the clothing she was wearing, everyone could see black lines originating from her covered back going all the way to her finger. When they all gathered at her finger a drop, black as ink formed from her fingertip before it dropped on the ground.
It then started expanding and moved to a more open space as if it had a mind of its own before the drop had formed the same black portal as yesterday.
The creature's white limbs then emerged from the black portal in the same creepy manner as yesterday before it stood, fully emerged in front of Thea.
Elize started trembling as memories of yesterday started to resurface, Lily although not frightened, wasn't particularly comfortable looking at the beast that towered over Thea. Finally Mia, who was sitting next to Thea and currently the closest to the beast felt a certain amount of fear, not enough to make her scream or cry, but enough to make her hairs stand on end.
Thea who was right in front of the creature only had one thought as she angled her head upwards to look at the creatures head.
'Wahahaha, so cool!' Thea thought with a large grin on her face.

As the creature was linked to Thea, Thea lacked the feeling of danger or disgust towards it, instead she felt strangely close to it.
'Hmm, I'm going to need a name Ahh I know! It's skin color is the same as a marshmallow so its name has got to be Mello.' Thea thought enthusiastically.
Even in her second life, her naming sense hasn't improved.
"From now on your name is Mello!" Thea said happily as she rubbed Mello's head, it's sandpaper like texture not bothering her in the slightest.
Thea then turned around with a large smile and said to everyone.
"Everyone meet Mello, Mello meet everyone!" Thea said happily.
Lily stared at her daughter in disbelief and sighed loudly before getting up from her seat and walking over to Mello.
'Why does my daughter have no sense of danger wait she has infinite defense' Lily thought, mentally slapping her forehead as she walked over to her daughter.
'Althea summoned it, so I guess it's safe.' Lily thought as she reached out to rub the creatures head.
Slightly intimidated by the creatures appearance, she hesitated but reached out further. When Lily's hand came in contact with the unpleasant, sandpaper-like texture, her eyes twitched.
Seeing Lily and Thea having touched the creature, Mia curiously came over and attempted the same, only to end up reacting the same way Lily did.
Elize hesitated the longest but ended up following doing the same as the two other girls did.
During this whole time, Mello just calmy stood there accepting the head rubs.
"How did you come up with its name?" Mia asked.
"Well she looks like a marshmallow, doesn't she?" Thea said while rubbing her cheek on Mello's head in a way a dog would.
"Ahh, doesn't she smell great?" Thea said as she continued rubbing herself on Mello.
The three girls looked at Thea in confusion before they leaned in closer and sniffed Mello, and to their disbelief Thea wasn't wrong, Mello smelled like pine nuts.
"Mm, you're not wrong but how do you know it's a she?" Elize asked, warming up to Mello.
"Uhm, I'm not quite sure, a feeling I guess." Thea answered.
"Well! That's enough for now, eat some breakfast and get going to the guild, we can always ask more questions later." Lily said.
The three ladies sat down and Thea unsummoned Mello, Mello leaned its head against Thea's hand and turned black before being absorbed. Like before, a surge of pain swept from her finger to her back, tattoo like lines going with the pulse of pain.
'I might have to check later if there's anything on my back' Thea thought, but mentally already had an answer.
The mood lifted now, the girls finished their breakfast and talked some more before Thea ended on a subject she had wanted some opinions about.
