Chapter 21: Killing Derick Second Time... The First Wrecking Goal Achieved

Helplessly he kept moving, searching for Derick, while his mind tried to recall any info that might help him here. that quest was related to saving a certain shrine artifact, whose many thought wrongly it was Derick's sword. Later on Derick explained everything, and the entire gamers' community learnt about what his quest was about.

It was about helping an NPC to pass through this starting point, heading towards the next village, then Derick would secure him until going to the town, where that man would announce the success of the quest.

It was simply a leveling up quest, with no mercy towards losing levels for the owner. So, Derick was granted that great sword, to aid him in this quest, helping him kill all the players and monsters he might face.

'So, he would go to meet that NPC. I had instigated his fear by what I said, and when he would resurrect again, he would go directly towards that NPC, to take shelter in him,' Bloom thought, while stopping in his tracks. If he recalled it right, the place where Derick and that NPC should meet wasn't far from here.

It was opposite to the place of their dungeon. That explained why Derick came to the dungeon so fast, after Brendy got killed. He was, initially, heading to that place.

Bloom squeezed his mind, trying to determine two things. First, the place of that meeting, and secondly the amount of Stm that jerk would have.

Derick had distributed most of his points into Str, and the most logical thinking was to distribute the rest to Vit. If so, then Derick didn't have a lot of Stm, only ten points of Stm, which was enough to take him one quarter of the way, before getting tired.

And so, Bloom decided his new course, heading with the flock of players, heading towards a certain direction. If he recalled it right, there was a great mountain in the shape of the sign of that NPC's shrine, a red skeleton.

He knew such a thing wouldn't be that hard to spot, and putting the direction Derick and the others were standing at, he started to run, heading towards there.

His Stm was depleted halfway though, and he used another potion to replenish it. he knew this quest of his had cost him two Stm potions so far, but if he got his results, he would be greatly satisfied.

Finding Derick amidst all these players would be like looking for a needle in a haystack, so Bloom decided to cut it short, head straight to that mountain, and ambush him there.

Just after he used his second potion, he spotted some far red spot from his current location.

"Bingo."

He evilly smirked, while galloping the path towards that direction. Midway, he started to identify its shape, it was a large mountain, with a rounded thing on its top.

Bloom knew it was a skull, a huge, some kind of monster's skull. He wasn't that interested in checking that skull, as his target was to destroy the coming hero of that shrine.

Up till Bloom died inside his game, no one really knew what was the goal of this quest. Derick shared everything, away from the aim of the quest, which he simply summed it up as being a great factor in the advancement of the game.

He finally reached the mountain, finding the place deserted from anyone. He didn't know if that NPC was already here or not, but that wasn't important, as what he cared about was killing Derick.

And so, he started to recon the place, looking for a suitable place to hide and ambush. He didn't look for long, as the place was already filled with huge rocks, with many unseen places there.

He climbed up, rested his body into a big hole in the top of the rock he was using to hide. He could spot anything coming from far towards here from the direction of the starting point, without being spotted.

He rested and waited, while glancing all the time to the empty road. After ten minutes, he finally spotted some shadow coming here running. He didn't need to confirm his guesses, as he knew that must be Derick, running for his life, fearing what Bloom would do to him.

Bloom waited, like a snake, hiding from his prey, waiting for the right moment to jump at him, and deal a swift strike to him. as Derick approached, Bloom could see the respiration covering all over his face. He was scared, scared to death by Bloom.

Bloom wasn't satisfied by that. in fact he didn't have a personal grudge with Derick, he had it against the game.

As Derick approached, Bloom started to be prepared, as he moved, as silent and careful as he could, towards the ground. The moment his feet touched the ground, he could hear the loud breathing of Derick, coming so near him.

"Esteemed shrine elder, esteemed shrine elder."

Suddenly Derick started to shout, calling for the NPC. Bloom knew the two didn't meet yet, and thus he didn't wait for long, as he moved like lightning, stinging Derick with his two swords like a venomous viber.

"Stab."

"Stab."

"Die you beta!"

Two swords cut their ways easily through Derick's body, creating two huge crits of nearly two hundred points of damage. A single damage of the two was enough to empty up Derick's Hp, and send him back to the starting point.

"Y-Y-You?!!!" Derick just said these shocking words, before he fell on the ground, dying for good. Bloom felt sudden relief, as if a great shade casted on his heart was blown away.

"System alert: Player has killed the hero candidate of the shrine of death. The killed player has lost his qualifications for the quest. Does the player want to accept the quest? If the player denied it, then esteemed death shrine elder would seek for another candidate."

"Damn you system!" Bloom cursed out the system of the game. just when he thought he had scored against the game, the system had shown how gravely mistaken he was.

That quest wasn't unique to Derick, it was a forcible quest then! Just thinking of this made Bloom's scalp numb! No matter how many times he interfered to kill the player with the quest, eventually he had to leave here, and that elder would look for another player.

"Should I kill that elder then?" he softly muttered to himself.

"Kill who, kid?"

Suddenly, a voice came just from his back, as its owner came, unnoticed by Bloom, until he stood just behind him.

Just thinking of that elder's ability to sneak behind his back without him knowing that made his hopes shatter. He couldn't deal with that elder, not yet, not now.

So, what should he do then?

He suddenly felt a killing intent erupting from behind him. He didn't even turn to glance at that NPC, and now he was about to get himself killed.

There was only one way to solve all this crisis, accept the quest, and try his best to undo it!

"I accept the esteemed death shrine elder's quest!"

"System alert: Player has accepted the esteemed death shrine elder's quest. For quest info, please meet with the esteemed elder."

He took a deep breath, as the moment he accepted the quest, that killing intent vanished, abruptly like it appeared. He finally had the chance to turn and see that elder, and when he saw him, he had a scare!

He wasn't human, he was a skeleton, all of him was bones! Dark red thick bones of a human, three meters human, with a sword in his hand. Bloom's scalp got numb again, asking himself, inwardly, with extreme shock:

'How the hell am I supposed to kill a dead man? Damn you system!' he cursed the game system again, from the bottom of his heart.
