Chapter 40: New World III
Chapter 40: New World III
I was sitting on my bed in my room on the 9th Floor of Nazarick.

Felicity was standing beside the doors. It had been a day since the transfer. I used the 'Mirror of the Remote Viewing' to scout our surroundings.
The mirror was about 1 meter in height, with an oval-shaped bronze frame covering its sides and edges.
Momonga: 'Carne Village should be getting attacked by the Theocracy.'
Thinking this, I navigated the mirror to look for the Carne Village. Because I didn't know where it was located, it took me a minute to find it.
Surprisingly, it wasn't being attacked. The villagers kept going about their day.
Momonga: I guess I need to wait a few more days for the attack.
I changed my perspective to be near the tomb.
The tomb was surrounded by grasslands with a forest in the distance. The Earth was moving around the tomb, forming dummy hills.
Momonga: It looks like Mare is working on forming the hills.
During the period when Bukubukuchagama played Yggdrasil, I made an attempt to influence her decision, suggesting that she transform the twins into adult female characters.
But despite my relentless attempts, she ultimately made them the same as the original series. So, when she stopped playing the game, I edited their genders and age.
Unlike in the original series, both were 125 years of age. In terms of elves, they were now adults. I also changed their Flavor Text. One example of the new one would be that Mare doesn't like to cross-dress.
Momonga: Maybe I should go outside and meet with Mare.
Thinking about it, I got up from the bed and approached the door.
Momonga: Felicity, I am going outside the tomb. You should wait here and handle anyone that asks for me.
Hearing this caused her mind to go into turmoil.
Felicity: Have I made a mistake?
Before I could exit the room, Felicity bowed deeply and spoke tremblingly.
Felicity: Please wait, master. It might be dangerous out there; please let me accompany you.
Momonga: Hmmmm. I don't need you to follow me. I can protect myself if needed.
Hering his reply caused her heart to burst into a million pieces.
Felicity: Please, master, if I have made a mistake, please punish me, but please don't take my job from me. A Shadow's job is to protect their master, even at the cost of their life.
She was on the verge of crying. But at this point, Momonga placed his right hand on her head and started patting her.

Momonga: Forgive me, Felicity. I wanted to tease you, but I didn't think it would lead to this.
Felicity: Please, master, don't blame yourself. I was in the wrong for not understanding your motives. I am a failure as a servant. Please punish me.
Momonga: Straighten up. You are not the one to blame. That is an order.
Hearing this, she stopped bowing.
Momonga: Now then, let's go outside.
Felicity: Understood, master.
She opened the door, and Momonga exited the room first, followed by her. They both kept leisurely walking through the corridors of the 9th Floor.
Momonga: It's fun teasing her.
Momonga amusedly thought.
Momonga: But I shouldn't tease her too much. There are other cute maids to tease anyway.
Thinking this, I cast *Gate*, which connected to the first Floor. We entered it and appeared at the entrance of the First Floor. I used my Demon variant, so I used *Fly* to fly above the tomb.
Felicity also had a few auxiliary spells; she also used *Fly* and started following me.
After reaching a sufficient height, I looked toward the vast grasslands and the distant forest. The moon was casting an ethereal glow. It was a beautiful sight but was nothing compared to the realm of Hadara.
I spent the last day experimenting with many things. One of the experiments was about cultivation. I wanted to know whether I could cultivate or not. And the result was disappointing.
Because I used the Leveling System to reach level 100, it placed a level limit of 100 on me. The only way to break past it was to mutate one of my CoEs, which required time.
According to my estimation, it would take me a year before I was able to mutate my Bloodline CoE. I could sacrifice my System and immediately start cultivating.
But the System was an essential part of my plans for the New World. If I sacrificed it now, it would hinder my progress in the future.
Momonga: It is frustrating that I can not start cultivating.
I kept gazing toward the forest in the distance for a few seconds, thinking about the future.
Momonga: Does this world only have one continent?
This question has been bugging me for a little while now. In the original series, only one continent was mentioned. Still, there might have been another continent out there.
Momonga: Only time will tell. My first priority is to determine whether it is an AU.
That was why I was waiting for the Slane Theocracy to show up. My plan was to capture their leader and extract information from him. He would have valuable information as the captain of one of the Scriptures of the Slane Theocracy.
I needed that information for my future plans.
I then turned toward Mare, who was using her staff to control Earth, forming a small hill outside Nazarick, effectively hiding it.
She was using 'Earth Surge' and one of her Job Class skills to amplify its effects. Dirt kept surging toward the walls on the outskirts of the tomb.
I landed near her, followed by Felicity. The sound of our landing made Mare aware of our presence. She turned toward us and spoke surprisingly.
Mare: Lord Momonga!
Then she started running toward us. She had a happy expression on her face.
Mare: Why are you here? Oh, no, did I make a mistake already?
She had a worried expression on her face. Even though I changed their Flavor Text, age, and gender, I didn't change their personality. So, she still acted like her original counterpart.
Momonga: Not at all, Mare. The work you're doing is of the utmost importance. It will protect Nazarick from intruders.
Mare: Ri-right. I understand.
Momonga: I just wanted to tell you how satisfied I am with your work.
Mare: Tha-thanks, Lord Momonga. I can't ask for anything more.
I then started ruffling her hair. She had long blonde hair reaching her back.
Momonga: I wanted to award you something due to your great work. Ask me what you desire.
Mare was surprised at this.
Mare: Nothing, my Lord. Serving you is the best gift I can ask for.
Momonga: I insist; tell me what you desire.
Mare had a thoughtful expression, and after a few seconds, she replied shyly.
Mare: We-well, if you want to know th-then. I would like to be with you.
I was amused by her reply. When changing her Flavor Text, I added phrases like she loved Momonga, etc.
Momonga: Is that so. Well, I can't complain about being with someone as beautiful as you. But you have to wait for a few days.
Mare: I-I don't mind. I am willing to wait for an eternity for you. And I will make sure that you are satisfied by me.
Momonga: Hahahaha! I am glad.
We kept conversing for a few more minutes.
After conversing with Mare, I returned to my room using the Ring of AOG. Once there, I sat on a desk at one side of the room and started studying the Magic System of Yggdrasil.
Even though I had information about many Magic Systems, it was necessary to study it. The initial phase of my plan, irrespective of the New World's status as an alternate universe, was to attain the status of World Master. This was a crucial step in my new Path to Power, enabling me to transcend beyond Rank 1.
I only managed to decipher about 2% of the available spells of my Demon Variant. With an increase in the tier of the spell, its complexity also rose.
Momonga: Let's get started.
~Scene Change~
I was sitting on a sofa in one of the halls on the 9th Floor. It had been a few days since the transfer, and I was currently using the 'Mirror of Remote Viewing' to inspect the Carne Village, which was being attacked by the knights of 'Baharuth.'
Momonga: Finally.
I kept inspecting the villagers and saw two girls running away from the village. The older girl had blonde hair and fair skin, while the little girl had reddish-brown hair.
Momonga: 'Found you.'
The girls were being pursued by 2 knights. I had already made a decision about what to do with them both. If my plan succeeds, they will become my important pawns.
~Scene Change~
They were close to the outskirts of the village. Enri heard the sound of clanking metal from behind her as she ran. It was a rhythmic sound.
She looked behind, and two knights were following her and her sister. She took a deep breath and forced herself to soldier on.
She had no energy to waste on anything else. Her breathing was rapid, her heart beating hard enough that she felt it would burst, and her legs were shaking mightily.
Soon enough, she would be completely exhausted and collapse and not get up.
As she ran, she glanced behind again.
The distance between herself and her pursuers had not changed. Even in armor, the knights'man's speed had not decreased. This was the difference between a trained warrior and a village girl.
Sweat ran down Enri's back as her body went cold. If this kept up she would not be able to escape with her sister.
Her sister was on the verge of crying; the only thing causing her to hold back her tears was that she believed her sister.
She believed her big sister would save her.
Enri's younger sister was as tired as Enri herself. Therefore, she suddenly stumbled, yelped, and fell. Because of exhaustion, Enri couldn't stand up again, causing the knights to catch up to them.
Because they were trained warriors, reaching the sisters took only a few seconds. One of the knights slashed with his sword, causing a massive wound on Enri's back.
Her heart beat faster, and the pain spread through her body, along with the scorching heat of her wound.
The pain she had never felt filled her with fear and made her want to throw up. Perhaps vomiting would clear the feeling of nausea that filled her.
However, Enri was looking for a way to live, so she had no time to throw up. Although she wanted to abandon her struggle, there was a reason why Enri had not given up until now. That was the warmth pressed against her chest her younger sister.
Enri: 'I need to find a way to let Nemu live.'
She kept breathing heavily while protecting Nemu. She kept thinking of ways to save her, but fate was cruel.
One of the knights impaled his sword through her back and through her heart. The blade kept traveling and pierced the head of Nemu.
Blood kept dripping from their wounds.
The knight pulled back his sword, which caused their bodies to fall to the ground lifelessly.
