Chapter 12: End of Scenario 1
Chapter 12: End of Scenario 1
The hour passed and I returned to the spot where the Hero and I were to meet. It was a fun little excursion that piled me about 20 more kills on top of the thirty-two. With the hounds and the big bad mutt as well, I had roughly 59 kills on my hand.
It wasn't bad. The hero came over too, not too far behind him but still fairly far away I could see about 12 people standing behind him far into the debris.
[Time Remaining: 7 minutes 12 seconds…]
"You're late," I said.
The hero immediately prostrated in front of me.
"I beg your forgiveness."
"Forgiven. Weirdo."
This stupid guy was quick to bow. Where was the fun in that?
The body of the hound was still below us, the small flames of the explosion on the verge of dying out.
The ashen skies with tints of red had strangely started to clear out and things seemed much brighter now that the mist that was blocking everything was gone completely from the scene.

What remained was to wait for the scenario to end.
"Those the people you saved?" I asked the hero.
"Yeah. I don't think they'll be useful for you though, we should just let them go."
"Sure."
Relafan sighed at my words.
My eyes remained on the timer.
Should I rake in more kills? Relafan had brought me live targets.
But…
It was natural that the second scenario would start at the end of the first. In that case, I needed meat shields and experiment puppets. There was nothing better than those guys for that purpose.
I was still largely lost at what exactly this apocalypse thing was, but it didn't take a genius to know that I wouldn't have to be so confused for a long time.
There were many dots to connect.
From the fact that eyeballs and constellations were trying to observe us to the apocalypse keeper itself and the cryptic yet funny tasks, it had rolled out. If I added the Strongest Cringe Loser system then there were many clues for me.
All of this was entertainment. Orchestrated entertainment, maybe working toward some goal.
But that didn't change the fact that someone out there was making a smug face while looking at me.
And god change my name if I don't slug that fucker.
The time was ticking.
"It's here…" the hero muttered.
The time…
