Chapter 6: Fleeting Sword Sect

Chapter 6: Fleeting Sword Sect

"Young man, I also happened to overhear that you are looking to enter a Sect. Do you already have a Sect in mind?" Senior Wu asked Su Yang.

Su Yang turned to look at his father and asked, "Do you?"

Su Qiao cleared his throat and spoke, "I don't mean to brag, but I believe my son is gifted with the sword, so I planned on sending him to the Fleeting Sword Sect. It's also the closest to home."

A bright smile appeared on Senior Wu's face upon hearing this information, and he quickly said, "This must be fate. I happen to have a humble position within the Sect as an Elder. If you wish, I can bring you to the Sect today and make you a disciple. What do you say, young man?"

The people in the store immediately started an uproar after hearing Senior Wu's words. The Fleeting Sword Sect was one of the most reputable Sects in their area, known for giving birth to many prominent Swordmasters.

"An Elder from the Fleeting Sword Sect is personally recruiting him? How lucky!"

"I'm not surprised, considering that he has a large-size Dantian."

"Just because one has a large-size Dantian doesn't make them a talented cultivator. It just means they have a larger Profound Qi storage. The only thing that truly matters is his innate talent."

"Who is that young man with the mask? Why is he wearing a mask in the first place?"

"Isn't that Su Yang? I thought he wanted to become a scholar, though."

Everyone there anticipated Su Yang would immediately accept Senior Wu's offer. However, to their absolute shock, Su Yang shook his head and refused, "I'm sorry, Senior, but this is too sudden. I'd like some time to prepare before I join the Sect."

"Su Yang! This is a once-in-a-lifetime offer! You should just go with this Senior!" Su Qiao immediately tried to change his mind.

Su Yang looked at him and asked, "What about mother? I cannot leave without talking to her first."

The people there hoped that Senior Wu would retract his offer after Su Yang's refusal, but to their surprise, Senior Wu merely smiled and spoke in a calm voice, "If you've already decided to join the Fleeting Sword Sect, I have no reason to rush you to join. Moreover, the entrance exam is just around the corner in two months."

Even though Senior Wu mentioned the entrance exam, there was no need for Su Yang to participate, as his Perfect Sword Body was already more than enough to qualify him as a disciple.

Senior Wu proceeded to retrieve a gold medallion and offered it to Su Yang, "Show this to anyone when you arrive at the Sect and you won't have to go through the hassle of doing the entrance exam. However, if you wish to test yourself in the entrance exam, you may do so as you please."

Su Yang accepted the medallion and nodded, "Thank you, Senior. I will definitely be at the entrance exam in two months."

Su Yang already decided to participate in the entrance exam even though he could skip it, as he wanted to make sure that he actually qualified, and he wanted to become a disciple with his own strength.

"Then I will no longer hold you any longer. I anticipate the day we meet again, Su Yang." Senior Wu said to him before leaving the store shortly after.

After they left, the young lady beside Senior Wu asked in a curious tone, "Master, what do you see in that weirdo? I doubt a mere large-sized Dantian would make you give him special treatment."

Senior Wu smiled and said, "That boy has a Perfect Sword Body. Need I say more?"

The young lady's eyes widened with shock after learning of this, and she asked, "Then why would you leave him behind? If he truly has the Perfect Sword Body, we should ensure that he joins our Sect before someone else notices him."

"Only those who have reached my level of sword mastery would be able to notice his Perfect Sword Body. He's managed to live in this place for so many years without being noticed, what difference would a few more weeks make? And since he's already decided to join our Fleeting Sword Sect, there's no reason to make things difficult for him."

"Is that so..." The young lady lowered her head, seemingly in deep thought.

Seeing this, Senior Wu smiled and teased, "Are you worried that you will finally have a worthy rival?"

The young lady quickly refuted, "Even if he has the Perfect Sword Body, he's only a mortal who hasn't even begun cultivating yet. What is there to be worried about? He won't ever catch up with me with such a late start."

Senior Wu silently caressed his long beard and smiled inwardly, 'I wouldn't be so sure about that...'

Meanwhile, Su Yang and Su Qiao quickly left the Martial Manor when the other guests in the store stormed them.

"Su Yang, is that really you?! Are you going to become a cultivator?!"

"Don't forget about me when you make it big at the Fleeting Sword Sect!"

After they escaped from the Martial Manor with considerable difficulty, Su Yang and Su Qiao returned home, recounting the entire day's harrowing ordeal to Su Lin.

Su Lin's face was filled with shock from beginning to end. Even though she knew that Su Yang would eventually become a cultivator, she couldn't have predicted that day would come so soon.

"So you'll be leaving for the Fleeting Sword Sect in two months?" Su Lin asked for confirmation.

"No, he'll be leaving next month since it will take about a month to get to the Fleeting Sword Sect even if he went on a horse." Su Qiao clarified.

"Don't worry, Mother. I will visit the family as often as possible." Su Yang said in a reassuring tone.

"I'm not concerned about whether you'll visit us or not. I'm worried about your well-being. Being a disciple of any Sect is perilous. I've heard it's common for disciples to engage in conflicts among themselves," Su Lin sighed.

"Mother, I promise to stay out of trouble and not stick my nose into others' business." Su Yang swore.

"It's not you that I am worried about. You've been picked on by others even as a child because of your appearance... An envious adult is much fiercer and frightening compared to a child."

Su Yang has been a victim of bullying because of his handsome face ever since he was young, so it was only natural for Su Lin to worry about his well-being inside the Sect, where he'll be alone and surrounded by powerful cultivators who can kill him with ease.
