Chapter 28 Summoning Mana
"How the fuck am I supposed to summon this?"
An awkward silence filled the room.
The only sound heard was a liquid string falling from the gleaming chrome above onto the milky white porcelain below.
Splashing, and bubbling, slithering, gurgling down the floor, one could hear a journey to somewhere in this uncomfortable and silent situation.
"The system has rewarded you with an avatar, summon it." The old woman spoke in a low voice.
Her wrinkled hands trembled as she spoke.
"How am I supposed to do that? The system won't listen to me." Lucas answered back immediately.
For him, it wasn't just about the system, it was about everything that surrounded him. He didn't know if he actually had the power to summon this phoenix and what could also happen to him if something went wrong.
Izek was like a mystery to him that no one wanted to talk about, 'how was I supposed to know it would work?" he thought briefly before answering.
"I can't control the system," Lucas added to his previous sentence, making the silence even quieter.
"The White Phoenix is Izek's familiar, to be honest, you wouldn't even need the system to control it." Haya finally interrupted their conversation.
Lucas turned and looked at Haya's face, he knew this guy had something to do with it but wasn't quite sure. At the moment he could only speculate.
"Then why did Kali need the system and I didn't?"
An unexpected question was asked by Lucas.
No one seemed to want to answer it.
"It's best if Haya and Xina go, leave me alone with him for now." An old woman decided to speak up and destroy this white atmosphere.

Without saying anything back, the two looked at each other, turned around, and were about to leave this place, "He-hey, where are you two going?" Lucas interrupted them as they were leaving.
"Just listen to Marix, kid, we're not needed here." Haya's tone was simple.
'Marix...?'
"If you're wondering who Marix is, it's me," Grandma replied to Lucas' inner thoughts.
"So, let's not waste any more time, shall we?" She raised her hand, glittering sparks coming from her palm, and in seconds there was a plain black chair to sit on.
She pushed back her dark robe that covered her whole body and sat down.
There was no emotion or expression on her face.
"Step in front of me"
"W-why?" Lucas stammered for a second.
"So I can help you control your mana."
"Mana?" He furrowed his eyebrows and bit his lips, "what's mana? He asked himself.
"Your blood is mixing with Izek's right now, it's best you learn to control it before you meet Izek again." She stared at him.
"Could you at least tell me who Izek is, no one seems to want to tell me about him." He clenched his fist.
"Later, now let's check your mana." She sounded cold.
"Sure..." Lucas heaved a long sigh, disappointed.
He walked towards her, his steps were quick but loud.
*squeeze* *squeeze* *squeeze*
With each step, he was heard.
He stood in front of her.
"Relax your body." She spoke slowly.
Lucas listened and let go of his arms so that his body felt loose.
"That's not enough, relax more." She spoke again in a low tone.
He gritted his teeth and turned his head away from her.
"Imagine trying to sleep."
"Sleep? Okay ..."
The feeling was mutual because sleeping was his favourite activity after not being able to experience it too often.
He gently closed his eyes and his mouth followed.
"Now concentrate, imagine yourself in a darkness without anything else around you."
He'd experienced this feeling once before when Izek had taken over his body.
Lucas opened his mouth slightly and breathed in heavily, as if to speak, and exhaled through his nose.
*whooosh* *whooosh*
He repeated this process again and again, for about two minutes.
Lucas' body slumped, losing its stiff posture. He rocked slowly back and forth so that his lips separated from each other.
A slight moan escaped from him.
At last, he was concentrated.
"Now follow my voice." She spoke softly.
After her words, Lucas felt like he was in a trance-like state that increased his concentration.
"Open your eyes." Her soft voice soothed him.
Lucas listened to her and slowly began to move his eyelids upwards. His head and chin followed this movement as if they were controlled by an immeasurable power.
When he finally opened his eyes wide, he saw himself in a dark room, with no ceiling, door, or window. His inner thoughts wanted to burst into panic as this small fear overcame him, but his physical body would not allow him to do so.
"Now imagine you see a small thread in front of you." The voice spoke out of nowhere, sounding like an echo.
Lucas tried to put all his concentration into this nothingness in front of him. He could not see anything. The air around him and his gaze were black like you see before you fall asleep.
He squinted his eyes, thinking it would help him imagine this thread better, but then he relaxed his facial muscles again and opened his eyes.
An uncontrollable blood pressure flooded through his veins and made his body tremble a little, 'what is this feeling?' He looked down at his palms.
*cranky*
A small sound appeared in front of him.
With his shaky hands, he looked straight ahead and saw a thin, blue-looking fiber floating in the air.
"That is your mana." The words of the same woman were spoken again.
This little thing moved in the air, pushed and pulled back and forth, lowered and flew higher again.
In Lucas' eyes it looked moving, he tried to approach it. He touched this moving something gently and it immediately expanded its body.
It looked flexible as if it could change its size and shape.
It made a sweet sound,
*sqkrwk* *sqkrwk*
For some strange reason, Lucas thought it was friendly when another noise approached him from behind, sounding quite different.
An annoying hum that sounded like a ground loop could be heard in Lucas' ears.
He turned and saw a huge, thick cord in front of him, muscular for some strange reason, with silver veins seeming to ooze from it. The colour of this cord was shiny, black, darker than the place he was currently in.
"This is Izek's mana." The voice spoke again.
