Chapter 317 After Dying, I Woke Up In Ancient Times With My Pharmacy 16
He Yuan walked into the Ancestral hall with a lantern in his hand. He'd taken some time to hide the bodies of the knocked out Lu guards and had grabbed a lantern on the way in when he remembered 888 was without his glasses.
This should be much better right? He even decided to delibrately increase the sound of his footsteps so his System wasn't caught offguard.
When he finally caught sight of 888, his brows furrowed at the fact that the man was in just his inner robes and kneeling but then his eyes caught sight of something else and he froze.
Was that blood dripping from his System's sleeves? Alarmed, He Yuan placed the lantern on the ground, lowered the shawl covering his face and dashed forward. "888 ar-"
SLASH!
The second the attacker got within a feet of him, Lu Jingye lifted himself off the ground with a smooth twist and slashed the sharp porcelain at the space in front of him.
He Yuan's eyes widened but he managed to take a step back in time and watched as the object in 888's hand moved right in front of him. He frowned. "888 ho-"
SLASH!
SLASH!
SLASH!
Since the first attack didn't hit, Lu Jingye dashed forward and slashed three consecutive times. He couldn't see clearly so his movement was dependent on the sound of the attacker's feet on the ground.
He Yuan smoothly dodged 888's attacks. If he didn't already know that the System couldn't see clearly, he'd never believe it with how clean 888's actions were.
SLASH!
He dodged another slash and locked onto the System's face. 888's brows were furrowed in concerntration and the corners of his pursed lips were turned down in displeasure.

He looked quite dashing and He Yuan smiled in exasperation before moving forward and easily catching both of 888's hands in his. "Hold on and hear me out alright?!"
Where would a panicked Lu Jingye have time to listen? From the way he was held, he determined the general direction of his attacker's head and, with a sneer, he clashed his head with his.
BAM!
"OW!" He Yuan quickly let go of his System and held his forehead. He absolutely did not expect that. Where did the System learn to fight like a ruffian?!
Lu Jingye used that opportunity to flick the cloth belt out. The long strip of cloth firmly wrapped around the attacker's upper body, locking him in place. With an accomplished smile, he swiftly walked over, knocked the attacker to his knees, adjusted the bindings and tightened the knot.
He Yuan's hands were now tied behind him and his knees were firmly planted on the ground. He looked up at his System with a sigh. "Are you satisfied now?"
Lu Jingye folded his arms across his chest but then froze when his brain finally registered the voice. He slowly cocked his head to the side. "...General He?"
He Yuan sighed again. He'd already figured that 888 might have truly lost his memories and this was why he let the System tie him up. "Hm. It's me."
That did not reassure Lu Jingye. What would the famed General of the Northern army be doing in the rundown Ancestral hall in the Lu household? The man had sneaked into the mansion so late in the night so it was very clear he did not have good intentions.
He narrowed narrowed his eyes. "Why are you here?"
He Yuan opened and closed his mouth a few times. He'd come here hoping that 888 was pretending not to recognize him but things did not go as planned.
He decided to see if he could trigger the System's memories so he said, "With what happened at the System space and with the current state of things, as your host, I thought you'd want to see me."
Lu Jingye frowned in confusion. "What nonsense are you saying?" The General hadn't run mad.. right? "You sneaked into the mansion of your fellow minister, knocked out the guards and your reason is that you think I'll want to see you?
-Are you stupid? I don't even know you!" His face turned cold and he pointed the broken porcelain at He Yuan's direction. "Why are you here, General He?"
He Yuan chuckled helplessly. Well that didn't work. His eyes trailed to 888's wounded hand. "How about you tend to your injury first?"
Lu Jingye didn't move and said coldly, "That's none of your business. Why are you here?!"
He Yuan pursed his lips. With the way 888 was waving that crude weapon, it was better to give a reason first so he quickly said the first thing that popped into his mind. "I saw you earlier today and thought you looked really good so I came to take another look."
Lu Jingye stiffened. Any mention of his looks automatically placed him in a self conscious state. He folded his arms across his chest defensively and glared at the General as his brain tried to make sense of things.
He understood that if the General had visited him, the child of a concubine, during the day time, it would have raised the suspicions of everyone else but then again, he knew his looks were peculiar but they were both men.
Why would General He impulsively sneak into the Lu mansion because he thought another man looked good? That was quite weird in itself. Something didn't add up and he felt wary.
He Yuan watched as different micro expressions flashed through 888's face and an idea suddenly came to his mind. Seeing 888 had triggered his own memories so as long as his System saw his face clearly, his memories should be triggered too right?!
As for how 888 could see him...
The time period of this Task realm had some similarities to the early Han dynasty so although there were magnifiers made from mined crystals that could be used to see small letters, spectacles hadn't been invented yet.
He Yuan pursed his lips but his eyes brightened a second later. Back when he'd gotten a new pair of spectacles from the System Marketplace for 888, he'd gotten three different pairs!
He quickly activated his storage panel in his mind. The gold rimmed glasses was there, the black rimmed glasses was there and... the silver rimmed glasses that he'd already given to 888 had somehow made it's way back to his storage panel.
He Yuan chuckled. So even when he'd already given it to 888, his panel still considered it as his own property so when he got seperated from 888, the glasses returned to him. How scummy.
Anyways, he turned to his System and called the name he'd heard Shi Meifen use when he was on the roof of Lu Wenduo's room. "Jingye, let's make a deal."
Lu Jingye frowned. Wasn't this General a little too shameless? He sneered. "We're not familiar with each other, don't refer to me like that."
'...'
He Yuan closed his eyes and sighed. He naturally did not see 888 as part of the ancient realm but he had to remind himself that the system didn't have his memories now. He cleared his throat and grit out, "Lu. Jingye. I have something that could make you see clearly."
Lu Jingye froze. Only two people were aware of his bad eyesight. How did the General know he couldn't see clearly? He tapped his foot nervously. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
He Yuan scoffed. "Really? You're looking in my direction but your eyes are on the space beside me and you still dare to act like you can see?"
'...'
Lu Jingye quickly lowered his eyes in embarrassment. This was the reason he always lowered his eyes around people!
He Yuan smiled at his System's reaction. "Do you want it or not?"
Lu Jingye finally remembered the General's offer and pursed his lips. Something that could make him see clearly. Why would the General offer something that precious for no reason? He firmly shook his head. "Not interested." It was better not to get himself tempted.
He Yuan's smile froze but he tried again. "Even if you don't want it, how about you take a look and see if I'm lying or not?" He made the silver rimmed glasses slip into his hands from his storage panel. "It's in my hands."
Lu Jingye cocked his head to the side in contemplation. It wasn't as if he was accepting it. He was only going to take a look. The General was tied up so there was nothing to fear.
He Yuan watched as 888 cautiously stepped forward and walked around to stand behind him.
Lu Jingye looked down. He hadn't noticed the General holding anything when he tied him up but maybe because the thing was so small. He extended his hands downwards and moved from right to left until it landed on the knot he'd tied around General He's wrists.
He moved his hand lower until it reached the man's palms and then took out the oddly shaped object he felt.
Lu Jingye straightened and rubbed the hard object in confusion. Some parts see thin and other parts, wide. It also felt smooth. How was this supposed to make him see? He glared at the back of He Yuan's head. General He was messing with him wasn't he?
He Yuan noticed the silence and cleared his throat in amusement. "You have to put it on your face carefully. Place the thin handles on your ears and balance the opening between the two large areas on your nose. Just feel around and you'd get it."
Lu Jingye thought it was ridiculous but did as instructed anyways. In order not to pierce himself, he closed his eyes and fiddled with the strange object until it was balanced on his nose.
And then he opened his eyes.
He had to blink a few times to adjust to the sight but when he did, he was amazed. The hall was dark but the lantern illuminated some parts of the hall and those parts could be seen perfectly well.
Broken pieces of wood, cracked pillars, the altar with half of it destroyed, lots of rocks, dust and fragile looking tables covered in more dust. The floor marble was also terribly cracked but he could see some patterns that had been carved into it during its glory days.
Everything looked so distinct and not a blurred mess. A small smile crept across his lips without his realization.
Lu Jingye's eyes finally landed on the back of General He's figure. The man was covered in black with a shawl around his neck and his figure looked more built than he'd imagined. A thick volume of lustrous black hair fell down in waves and stopped at his shoulders.
Lu Jingye was curious. He'd never truly seen what people looked like all his life so he walked around until he was facing He Yuan and slowly cocked his head to the side in curiosity.
